Great shopping experience at Bashas... until checkout. Then we apparently met the store's unofficial "anti-customer service ambassador." The cashier at register 4 around 6:30-7 PM didn't greet us, didn't respond when my boyfriend said hello, and tossed groceries to the side like she was auditioning for competitive bagging sabotage. When our Bashas card didn't work after a few attempts, instead of helping, she smirked and said, "Welp, it's gonna be the full amount." After trying one more time with a number we had already given her, it worked. Her response? "Finally." Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she just didn't like us, or maybe happiness was simply not on the menu that evening. Either way, customer service matters -- especially in a small-town store where one interaction can define the whole experience. Management was notified, but hopefully this gets addressed. A little kindness goes a long way. read more

Every time that I come in here to shop the men's room is disgusting. It seems like no one cares here because the employees must use it and it has been going on for a long time. Toilets clogged. Toilet paper all over the floor and in the urinal. Please get it together. read more

The grocery store to visit in Payson! This particular location feels larger than our local locations in the valley though I could be wrong. Our favorite go-tos are the Boar's Head lunch meat and produce. They have a huge parking lot. Your Bashas card or phone number still works here too! I have lived in Payson AZ for 2.5 years and I have had more rude employees, especially at the self check out, than I have in all of my old age dealing with businesses. I called the GM this last incident and he was apologetic. These were older ladies and every time I should have just left my groceries and just walked out. I probably won't ever come back to Bashas ever again especially here. I dealt with Food City for 20 years in another town and never had any problems at all. This starts from the top down and money vs training. Something is seriously wrong with this store. They need to adjust the self checkout scanners and sensors. Sad to have to write this review but it won't even get noticed especially by whoever corporate now owns Bashas now. Selection is fine but you are paying a premium here for items. Bathrooms are pretty dirty but they do function. I have never had a bad customer experience but this isn't the typical grocery store I would shop at. read more

Staff is always helpful. I appreciate the self-checkout and that public restrooms are available. Produce is good quality. It is reasonable to expect higher prices in a small town. It's only slightly more than a larger city. Regarding the review where lady mentions that the manager was irate that she had taken a balloon from a display for her child. Well, no matter how cheap a balloon may be...if you take it without permission, it meets the legal and moral definition of theft. Perhaps a courteous approach to the manager with and offer to pay for the balloon might yield a different result. I had to wait just a few minutes as there was only one person working in the deli department...his name is Chase. Chase is such a kind young man. He said he needed respect after I told him I needed a different weight of deli meat. He said because I was so kind confronting him with the error, he said he would definitely make the change, no problem! I totally agree with him. NO ONE should have to put up with disrespect or unkindness just because someone is in a bad mood or whatever the reason. EVERYONE DESERVES unconditional kindness! what a never ending problem store...11/ 3 /21 advertise top sirlion steak for $4.47 lb and top sirloin roasts 4.77. They had neither! 3hrs into ad day Wed. Just gruppy meat lady throwing pork on to meat shelves, telling customers to get away until she unloaded her cart....what a rip off/ waste of time. Come on new owners, no ads for stuff NOT stocked. I got a chance to visit this store in the middle of the corona virus scare and internet outage! :) just shy of an apocalypse! I have to say the service the team offered was fantastic. I really thought they did a great job handling the madness and keeping the store stocked and functioning. They were the only ones taking credit cards and were very accommodating for customers. To the people who bashed basha's for employees not wearing masks. I'm surprised you went out at all. You probably wear your mask driving alone in your car too? yea the virus is in all the air. BASHAS MOTTO--IF YOU DON't LIKE IT DON'T SHOP HERE My husband and I ventured into our local Basha's grocery three days ago, with our masks and cloves on. At the register (our grocery bill was $262.00). As I noticed none of their employees had any masks or gloves on and there wasn't any hand sanitizers in view, I asked our cashier why he wasn't wearing anything protective. He said they were told not to because they didn't want customers to think they were sick. So, I asked the manager and another employee standing side by side. They said corporate didn't require it. I commented that it was to protect both them and us. The manager said her doctor shopped there and didn't wear a mask so she didn't think she should and said she didn't like them anyway. I said, well shame on you guy's to which the male employee quickly and loudly said, " if you don't like it then don't shop here ". He actually said it twice as he derogatorily said " well shame on us". No social distancing and NO protective wear on any of the employees. Made me realize the germs passed on not only at the registers but in the fresh produce as well. If they are that relaxed on hygiene what else are they relaxed on. I moved to Payson two years ago and kept going back and forth between Safeway & Basha's. It all came down to price and customer service. I love this store. The people are friendly, the sales are significant and the layout is similar to the Basha's in Mesa (very convenient... it saves me time walking all around the store in an attempt to find one item). Also a shout-out to Vicki in the liquor department. I'm planning a wedding and she has patiently helped me come up with my wine list for 100 guests and has worked hard to get the lowest sales price from the distributor. thank you! read more

This is a large supermarket which is locally owned so it caters to the particular needs of Payson residents rather than California residents. Strongly recommended. Fresh donuts baked everyday in the bakery and after 7 p.m. they go on sale half price. It was recently updated and it's very nice inside! The staff is all very friendly and the new manager, Peggy, is so helpful and does a great job running that store! There's a Starbucks inside and all the baristas are so nice and they make the best drinks! And they sell pastries and breakfast sandwiches all day read more

Normally I'd give a 4 Star but today Bill the cashier had some kind of a "I'm a middle aged man working as a cashier and I don't need customers questioning my cashiering abilities" moment. It must be that he can't handle holiday stress but this guy charged a customer over a thousand dollars for potatoes, had to void the whole transaction and start over then when the customer in front of me asked about the soda being on sale he replied it comes off at the end like it ALWAYS does. Just plain rude!!! As he was ringing up her celery, which was 3 for $1 he couldn't get it to ring correctly because he was trying to weigh it, really?!? I casually mentioned the sale and he jumps back loudly saying "DOES ANYONE ELSE WANT TO TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB?" I told him I was just trying to help and he tells me if I don't like it I can go to another line and I said "I probably should have", he replied "bye". I asked if there was a manager around and he pointed to the service desk where my husband had already brought Bill's bad attitude to his attention!! Rick the assistant manager came over and asked Bill if he needed a break and Bill replied "yes" so Jeff finished up my transaction which was all of 9 items, with a great attitude and smile. I drive an hour and a half to Payson and I think this Bashas has the best meat so we shop here specifically for that reason.
