Basha's has been at the PSU park blocks for a long time, offering a quick (I'm talking lightning) falafel to all the students buzzing by for $5.00. Today I noticed they may be skimping on their serving size, but it's still a decent portion. I always get the falafel "burrito style" which we nickname "Big Mac Falafel." It comes with lettuce, pickles, basmati rice and tahini sauce and is $6. They also have a hummus platter and chicken shawarma -- the usual. Their baklava sucks.

Best lentil soup ever + sambal + pepper.

Most items on their menu can be made vegan. Just ask. I eat here every Saturday when I go to the farmers market. Their falafel is tasty!

I came in with friends who are vegan and gluten-free, and before we even had to ask, the staff marked up our menus with everything they could eat. Not just a couple sad options either. A ton of them. This kind of consideration is something I've noticed across Portland, and it's a big part of why I love visiting. Food-wise, we had some real standouts. The roasted carrots were deeply flavorful, the curried black lentil salad had that perfect balance of hearty and bright, and the tahini ice cream was one of those desserts you keep thinking about after the trip ends. Also, do not skip the beer with a slushy float. It sounds chaotic, but somehow it works. Fun, refreshing, a little unexpected. Come hungry, especially if you're dining with mixed dietary needs. Everyone will leave happy

The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming, and the staff were genuinely helpful and welcoming. Every plate we tried delivered. The pita alone deserves a shoutout, fresh, warm, and dangerously easy to keep eating. Standout dishes: Hummus & Spicy Lamb Merguez Gravlax Lamb Carnitas Street parking wasn't too bad, which is always a win in SE. Honestly, I'd come back for the atmosphere as much as the food. Couldn't recommend it more. Go. No need to thank me later.

Have never seen such care to what's on the walls of any restaurant. This location downtown has amazing historic Iraqi art on the walls. The one on Alberta in NW has awesome historical photos. Iraqi shish kabobs are amazing. Perfect for 2 meals. I eat one kabob with a whole blistered onion and tomato and the greens included as a wrap with their pita bread for lunch. Then the other kabob with another onion and tomato for dinner. Tzatziki and hummus are amazing too. Lamb shank is literally fall off the bone. 10/10

For reference, middle eastern is one of my favorite cuisines, and this blew me away. Specifically, I think this was the best seasoning I've ever had on kabob meat, it was a flavor bomb. Good value too, normally I have to ask for extra meat from other restaurants, but I was full and satisfied from this plate! I also got the tabouli salad and it was very fresh. Also love how many GF options there are here! Service: 5/5 Wonderful service, the server took great care of us and answered all our questions. Ambiance: 5/5 I loved the art pieces and decoration everywhere, it really felt authentic, like I stepped into a different country for lunch. The dim lighting created a nice intimate atmosphere.

We opted for the chef's tasting menu, and it did not disappoint, each dish built on the last and made the whole meal feel special. We especially loved the char that some of the dishes had, the italian soda served with a glass, and the ice cream were such nice touches. What really stood out, though, was the service and attention to detail. Everything felt seamless and intentional. Our server, Madison L, was fantastic! Enthusiastic, engaged, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great time. She elevated the entire experience and made the night feel memorable. Honestly, we almost ordered too much because everything sounded so good. This place definitely has a cool vibe... maybe even a little too cool for me. The food came out at a really nice pace, the setting was clean and comfortable, and the whole experience just worked. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're looking for a fun night out with great drinks and memorable food.

My husband & I, my sister and my son all went for lunch on a Saturday. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but we were all pleasantly surprised. Everybody but me got the spiced lamb souvlai, which was ground meat on a skewer. I tried the oregano chicken. Mine was tender, flavorful grilled chicken. I loved it! I have always thought of souvlaki as a Greek version of a gyro-meat in a pita wrap with sauce & veggies. Not here. You get the meat and a pickled vegetable and that's it. That's why you need some sides and bread. The bread is better than a lot of pita I've had. We also got an order of hummas (some of the best I've had anywhere. Maybe it's because they put a dab of zhoug-a mixture of herbs & spices packed with flavor. It was as smooth as silk), as well as beet salad. It had quinoa that seemed to have been fried because it had a slight crunch which I loved. It was the perfect foil for the golden beets and radish in the salad. We ordered just the right amount of food for the 4 of us (one piece of pita each, one salad, one hummus and an order each of souvlaki). I noticed some vegetarian options on the menu as well. We all agreed we want to come back and bring the spouses who couldn't make it. Looks like I forgot to take pics of the meat. You'll just have to be surprised!

Decided to stop in on a rainy afternoon to have a snack. I was hoping to get a little Mezza platter…read morea little sampling of perhaps hummus, their housemate pita and some falafel balls but they don't offer such things. And since I didn't want to order half the menu I just went for the falafel balls and the halloumi fries. Again I think it's bizarre that they don't offer a little sampler platter for you to try a few things. But I digress. The falafel balls were hard as rocks. They were fried too much and they weren't anything special. The fries were also nothing special the least they could've done was actually melt the cheese on the fries to make them gooey but they didn't even do that. The service was wonderful. And I did enjoy having the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant so you can watch some cooking your food. However the food here was not worth coming back for. I'm starting to realize a lot of people in Portland don't have sophisticated pallets they're probably the same people who think McDonald's serves gourmet cheeseburgers. I also don't understand why a Greek restaurant is serving Middle Eastern food like falafel? It would be nice if they had strictly Greek dishes and stuck to them and made them really well. I don't know any other Greek restaurant in Portland especially on the east side.
