Went to this food cart at the Saturday Market. Owners were very friendly and we got our food quickly - Great service! Love that there's vegan options. The portions are huge and would be easily double the price in DC or on the east coast. Very good falafel and the shawarma had a ton of flavor. Quick and easy location.

Although I unfortunately didn't get many photos of the food this was one of the best food trucks I've ever visited ! Seeing Beirut at Saturday Market previously I was really interested in trying their food . With a traditional Lebanese menu their cousine was exquisite and so tasty . Not only was the food delicious but the service was incredibly kind with father and daughter running the cart today . I pretty much devoured everything on this plate and will absolutely return to try a shawarma wrap . The combo plate included the best crunchy falafel I've ever eaten ( no that is not an exaggeration ) , tahini , side salad , and complimentary pita bread . While eating the owner brought me a really appetizing side of roasted eggplant baba ganoush which really made my experience that much more satisfying . $15 is rather fair compared to other options near by . Thanks for the memorable visit

    Falafel Sandwich

After surveying the food carts at the Saturday market, we picked this one as having the most potential. The sandwich tasted good; we were just a little disappointed with the preparation. The falafel itself was great, but the sandwich was heavy on salad and very light on sauce. And for something that needs to be eaten by hand; it didn't have much structural integrity, it was collapsing with every bite. Glad we tried it, but not sure if we would have it again.

This food booth is located at the Portland Saturday Market. They offer about nine different items on their menu, including Chicken or Sirloin Beef Shawarma Sandwiches, Falafel, Hummus, Tabbuleh, Baba Ghanoush, and Mujadra. I opted for the Garlic Chicken Shawarma Sandwich - garlic chicken in pita bread with lettuce, tomato, and onion topped with tahini-yogurt sauce. Garlic chicken was tasty, but the tahini-yogurt sauce definitely makes the sandwich! Service was pretty fast. Cash only.

This is one of the many options at the Portland's Saturday Market. I got the Beef Shawarma Sandwich and it was pretty filling. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, lots of beef and yogurt sauce. The yogurt sauce was BOMB and I wish they would've put more... the rest of the ingredients were pretty average but not bad. It is a bit messy to eat and be careful not to drop any like I did. My paints were stained the entire day after my first bite.

While wandering around the Saturday Market, I thought that this place looked interesting and decided to give them a try. I asked the guy manning the booth which was better - the chicken or the beef. He replied that replied that he would give me both. He put a reasonably generous portion of the beef and chicken into the pocket sandwich. Unfortunately, neither meat was any good. The sandwich included onions, bell pepper and lettuce. The sauce was pretty good but wasn't enough to make up for the bland flavors of the meat. I think that I probably would have done better at one of the many other food booths at the Saturday Market.

Dip mezza - hummus not smooth, no flavor, Lebneh was ok, baba ghanoush almost tasted of artificial smoke flavoring. Shatta - absolutely not shatta. I came in with friends who are vegan and gluten-free, and before we even had to ask, the staff marked up our menus with everything they could eat. Not just a couple sad options either. A ton of them. This kind of consideration is something I've noticed across Portland, and it's a big part of why I love visiting. Food-wise, we had some real standouts. The roasted carrots were deeply flavorful, the curried black lentil salad had that perfect balance of hearty and bright, and the tahini ice cream was one of those desserts you keep thinking about after the trip ends. Also, do not skip the beer with a slushy float. It sounds chaotic, but somehow it works. Fun, refreshing, a little unexpected. Come hungry, especially if you're dining with mixed dietary needs. During Easter, that's what I was craving, and I didn't get that. UPDATE #2: Because it's Easter, I craved for lamb shanks. Instead of traveling to Vancouver or SW PDX, for two of our favorite restaurants, that have also lamb, I DECIDED to have to-go from Ya Hala, another of our favorite restaurant, because they're only 7 mins. from home. After searching for their menu, I ordered: Spring Lamb Pomegranate-glazed leg of lamb served with spinach-pomegranate sauce, basmati rice, and fresh peas -- $28. (See photo, why I am deducting a star). THIS is not worth $28, and it is something you'd find at a Food Cart for $14. It was also tough! I was so disappointed, and I'm not sure I'll be going back!
