I honestly was so confused when I reached my destination as the address turned out to be a commercial building. There was one small sandwich sign by the front door advertising Izzies but otherwise the façade did not indicate this was a restaurant. I later found out that it was in fact one of those "virtual restaurants" or "ghost kitchens" that I've been hearing about. For those who don't know what that is, a virtual kitchen is a delivery/pick-up only operation. These establishments are usually shared by multiple restaurants and can be accessed in person or through any of the usual food delivery apps (UberEats, Grubhub or Doordash). Izzies is one of 6 restaurants in this building. This was really new concept for me, never having tried it before but I was game. Upon entering the building, I noticed a couple of kiosks set up by the wall. There you can place your order for any of the 6 restaurants that share this facility. There is a large monitor where you can keep tabs on when your food is ready for pick-up. Once it is ready, you can head to the pickup window to grab your order. The whole process was super-efficient. Now onto the food. I ordered a Cheesesteak Hero, Philly Steak and Chicken empanadas, Philly Chicken tacos, and a side of tater tots. The Cheesesteak Hero was pretty good and very filling. It had a good amount of sliced steak, and the Cheese Whiz sauce was nice and melty. The tater tots were also good. It came which your choice of dipping sauce and I got garlic mayo which went perfect with the tater tots. Unfortunately, the rest of my order weren't so great. Both the tacos and empanadas were a huge disappointment. The chicken in the tacos were ground up and tasteless. And the empanadas were overcooked. The crusts were very dark, and the insides were dry. Also, I must note that the packaging was surprisingly not very well thought out. The tater tots were placed in one of those food parchments bag. By the time I got home, the bottom of my brown paper bag was wet from the grease of the tater tots leaking through. Why didn't they place it in an actual container?
