Recommended site to visit by Raj at the Best Western Olde Maritime hotel in Warrnambool, Australia. A short distance away, roughly 15 miles, we arrived and tried the wine tasting. Two whites ( a pinot grigio and a chardonnay ) and four reds ( including a delicious shiraz and equally delicious tempranillo ). The old vine shiraz ( 2017 ) won us over, and we ended up ordering a bottle along with two appetizers to enjoy outside on their patio ( The sliced chorizo sausage and the chips w/aioli ). Got the chance to meet the vintner/owner Shane Clancey and had a enjoyable conversation with him. Basalt wines is a delightful place, the food is good, the people are friendly, and their wine gets a thumbs up. read more
