On time, Mandy can cut hair esp blk folks hair. Reasonable prices and she uses hot towels when she shaves you. This place is a winner.

I would not recommend at all the guy she hired are very young. They do not know how to give haircuts very unprofessional swearing. Having been in the face to face customer service industry for more than 20 plus years, it's great knowing there are local businesses out there that treat you like family and not like corporate robots reading from a how to book. Bartlett Barbers Barbershop is the pinnacle of the face to face experience/treatment. I highly recommend heading on over for your next hair appointment. I originally chose this establishment, then known as Candiman, based on the great reviews. I was happy with them until my regular barber moved to another state. Since then, I went back 4 times. The first time I got a barber named Tony. Decent haircut, washed my hair and warm towel, nice touch. It was an OK haircut. Unfortunately, he sprayed my head with some sort of scented alcohol spray that made me nauseated. The 2nd time I got a very young gentleman. I don't think he said a word to me throuought. Whatever electric razor he used on me was extremely painful. I jumped in my seat from pain. I couldn't see the finished job until I got home and washed my hair. I could have done a better job using a kitchen knife! 3rd time was from a woman of a certain age. I loved the haircut. I went on vacation immediately afterwards and hairdressers there were complimenting the job she's done. She never said her name nor have I ever seen her there before or after. My 4th time was the last. I got the same young "barber". By the time I got home, 4 minutes away from the shop, my neck was in flames. I took a a gentle wipe to my neck and it was covered in blood from the extra sharp electric trimmer he used. My lower neck was covered in zits and boils for 10 days afterwards. I love businesses that make you genuinely feel like a customer. Had my first haircut here with Bree/Brie and from the time that I called to make an appointment and through the end, it was top notch service. She was very attentive and possessed a cheery demeanor. Haircut-wise, it was just what I wanted. Additionally, the chairs are newer and super comfortable. On the flipside (and these aren't deal breakers for me), a couple of suggestions: (1) Include a hair rinse at the end to get rid of all the spare haircut fuzz from the clippers. (2) Get rid of the credit card convenience fee - I know there are different opinions on this one but I think we're headed towards a cashless society, so incorporating that into your prices would be OK, at least in my opinion. In anycase, would definitely recommend to anyone trying this place out. read more

I've been coming here for 3 years now and normally everything is amazing but today was really not. I went in for a haircut cut and beard trim and honestly I wish Raquel had done my hair cut(she was working next to me and that guy was lookin FRESH). I don't remember the name of the skinny guy with the red snapback that cut my hair but he was overly aggressive with the clippers and scrapped my head. And id have normaly been able to look past that; but when it came time to do my beard he used a straight razor WITHOUT AND SHAVING CREAM he literally scraped off a layer of skin. Like I saw skin on the razor it's hours later and my face still hurts! Plus my beard was un-even and I had lots of missed patches of stubble that I had to fix myself when I got home. I think my barber was just a friend of an actual barber at that location. I asked for a skin tight medium fade and an inch off the top. My haircut took about an hour because all the barbers in the shop are talking about a wild party they had the night before. After three or four slight clips on the top my barber spent 45 minutes giving me a terrible fade on the sides. When I thought the haircut was just about to begin, he took off my cover and said thanks for coming in. For a haircut that should cost six dollars , they charged me 28. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Thank god for Bartlett's Barbers! I needed an immediate appointment to help salvage a horrible haircut I got at another place not too far. The entire team gave me reassurance that they would be able to help. The fade is fire, you could tell that someone before had just hacked bald spots into the back of my head. I just moved to Elgin and decided to give this place a try. This place is really nice and clean, the owner if she was the owner was really cool which is a shame because I just received one of the worst haircuts I've ever had in my life not to mention it was also the most expensive at $26.00 for a fade. The guy giving me the cut was cool but was super rough with the razor . My neck is still on fire. I asked for a medium fade with a #3 on top. My hair is all uneven, he gave me a high fade that doesn't blend very well. My line in front is just horrible and I'm debating on just shaving my head bald. I think this place is more of a traditional salon type not if you need a fade or cuts of that type. read more

Trash service. The haircut sucked and the barber did the opposite of what I asked him. (Simple mid fade with textured top). Instead I was given a military haircut with no fade yet I was still charged the extra $3 for a fade even though it looks all one length. Talk about a real rip off. I'm extremely disappointed because I read all the older reviews and felt confident about this place but I was immediately annoyed once I clearly saw my "barber" not even doing what I asked him and had no choice but to let him finish his shit job. Went in to get a fade a couple days ago. It was slow, just the owner and one other barber on staff. I was greeted by the owner, who was busy with another client so she said the other barber could take me. Dude was sleeping in his chair so hard the owner had to say his name three times before he woke up. I sat down, he asked what I was tryin to do. I've got an undercut, with the top about chin length. I told him I wanted a low fade, leave the top/long hairs alone, and keep the side burns. He's like, "ok". First pass with the clippers takes one of my sideburns clean off. I let it slide. Next thing I see him cutting longer hairs from the top of my head with his clippers. I call him out on it. He denies it. I point to the floor at the long hairs. The owner walks by when this is all going down and tries to diffuse the situation, saying it was probably a misunderstanding. I'm like, "yeah it was. He was probably still asleep when I was telling him how I waned my hair cut." I got up outta his chair right quick and told the owner I'd like her to finish my cut. The whole time she was cutting my hair, Sleeping Beauty was staring at me contentiously from his chair, like he was pissed off that I didn't let him mess up my shit anymore than he already did. The owner did a good job on the fade and blended Sleeping Beauty's' mess ups as best she could, although I've got a patch in the back that is growing out (which is thankfully covered by other longer hairs the butcher didn't have time to get to).
