I got extremely bad vibes from my stylist when I met her and I had a strong intuition I should have left my seat based on the horrible wash basin experience that was ludicrous.  The stylist didn't know how to properly lower my seat so a good portion of the back of my scalp was dry and never hit water during my shampoo. I explained to her that I was uncomfortable and I'm super short in height and she acted indifferent like it was my fault I couldn't reach the water properly.  Finally I got out of my chair and asked the manager for assistance and she adjusted the back seat easily so the chair was comfortable.  I've no clue why the stylist didn't know how to adjust the seat but she has dark hair, wears it blown dry straight and acted cold and indifferent to me the whole time. She suggested round layers but she must have used texturing shears because my layers are jagged and my cuticles are completely exposed. Obviously she didn't realize I understand the texture of my hair much better than she does because she complained my hair was longer at the back and shorter at the front. I told her my goal was chest length hair as she proceeded to give me a bob so my hair now barely touches my collar bone and my once thicker hair looks thinned out. Her cut was poorly executed lèading me to believe she may have purposefully created layers that will take months to grow out because they definitely don't flatter my bone structure and they will grow out now unevenly with split ends because of the layers she chose. She took me further from my goal and I was trying so hard to be patient and grow out an over layered haircut I received from last year that I disliked. The funny thing is my hair is easy to cut. The fewer layers the better and just a solid shape is all I needed. The only reason I'm leaving two stars today is because I called the Corporate headquarters immediately after receiving this awful cut and Jakob in Colorado patiently listened to me as I truly needed to vent.  I had cut my hair Sunday night trying to add weight to the bottom layer of my hair so Monday morning I called this location at 8 AM asking if a stylist could even out the back.  I wasn't expecting an amateur to hack at my hair at the crown and expose my cuticle. My hair looks fried and unhealthy leaving me to believe she didn't understand my hair type which is curly and wavy. Jakob was kind enough to issue me a refund and suggest I try another location but unfortunately my hair takes forever to grow because I'm anemic.  My hair is grey, course and dry by nature and she added the wrong types of layers to my hair making it even more wiry looking.  She probably hates curly hair because she admitted to me she never wears hers curly. She blows dry her one length hair and ties it back in a ponytail because she dislikes her texture. I would not suggest this location because I was rushed in and out and made to feel like I was unimportant. Jakob was extremely professional over the phone with me and I suggest that further training take place here because this wasn't the experience or haircut I was hoping for. I truly hate my cut. I'm depressed looking at the scraggly thinned out tapered layers at the crown of my hair that make no sense.  If you don't like interacting with people you should not be in the beauty industry. I then sent a text and Mr. Lopez responded. We set up a mobile appointment with one of his barbers for 5 pm today. He did not ask for my address and when I asked him if he needed it (since he was traveling to my hotel), I didn't get a response which raised a red flag. 5 pm comes and goes and I didn't hear from him. I reached out to ask if someone was coming, but I never got a response. I was disappointed because the shop's reviews were so positive. If you couldn't accommodate an appointment or had to cancel, just communicate that. No need to waste people's valuable time with horrible business practices.

For a fade that uses no guards and razors, I normally go to the city. It just so happens that Imperial Cutz is a true barber shop where all of the barbers are from the city. I got a tight zero fade side part for $25 with 10% off after a Yelp check it. My barber, Junior, shaved my hair to the skin and faded the rest to the top which takes skill. He's opening up a second location in Palatine if you are further up north. Imperial Cutz is bringing urban flare to Schaumpton and they are for realz, yo.

Both owners were present at the time and I had Ron take care of me. He gave me just what I wanted and my hair has been growing in beautifully weeks after the cut. In a clean, no-frills shop, I was treated to the pleasant banter that makes a barber shop experience worth-while. I wasn't in much of a talkative mood at the time, yet I couldn't help but enter into conversation with Ron, Cindy and even the other customers. I learned that both owners grew up with parents who were barbers, so I could imagine that they have at least a few dozen combined years of experience with their craft. I don't remember the price of the cut, but it was very reasonable (under $15). This is a family-friendly environment and all in all, I'd highly recommend this place to anyone!
