This is actually for the South Elgin location, specifically for Leo. My youngest has gotten 3 cuts from him now and he loves going! My 11yo is autistic and also has a movement disorder, so he often has a hard time sitting for haircuts. Leo has a very calm energy and my kiddo could not be happier when he's in his chair! Plus he does great work. My boyfriend who has never really had a barbershop cut done also goes to him now (cut, fade, and beard cut and lining). The vibe in the shop is great and they are very professional. Highly recommend this location and Leo in particular. Always pleased with their hair!! read more

Especially thankful for Manuel Villagomez, as he led the entire team with walk-ins, calls, me, etc. I genuinely felt like I had fun getting my hair cut and beard trimmed for the first time in over a decade. Took my boys to go get a haircut. One of them came out happy with his cut. The other one was really disappointed and upset. He had asked for a high taper with 1 on the sides and came out with what looked like a burst fade with 0 or 0.5 on the sides. Completely different look from what he asked for. read more

The first time I went to Fade Stars, JJ cut my hair for my father's memorial service, and it was perfect. He listened to what I had to say and didn't rush. He also didn't do that thing that barbers and tattoo artists do where they do "what they think you want" instead of what you asked for. The second and third times I went, I needed a haircut on short notice, so I couldn't book him; as his availability wouldn't allow. Martin was late, and was rough with the back of my head, even though I explained I have a subdural hematoma in the back of my head, and it hurt when he cut my hair. I had a similar experience with Ernesto, who cut my hair the third time I went. He was constantly wiping his nose with his hands (no gloves) and then touching me! He also messed up REALLY BADLY on my beard, so now it's all patchy and I'm basically going to need a full shave to make sure it all grows back the same. Long story short, I do not recommend Fade Stars as a whole, but some of the barbers there, like JJ, do a really good job and listen to their customers. Hopefully next time I won't have events pop up in less than two weeks that require me to look my best, or else I'll go somewhere else. $50 to have my beard messed up by a "professional"? The craziest part (other than the cut on my neck from his clippers) was when he asked if I was going to leave a tip, which is corny and unprofessional. The shop does it flawlessly! they are able to get you in to the chair quickly deal with you professionally and finally in sure that before you walk out of the door your hair is flawless.
