Each one has been "wonderful" in that his office staff and medical staff are very kind. Dr. Torosis, the anesthesiologists and nursing staff have been extremely gentle and patient with me when I had questions, before, during and after. The whole procedure has been fast and painless and recovery was super quick. It's no fun doing the prep but the next day, when the colonoscopy is done, it's fast and they provide photos and a printout of instructions before you leave.

My experience in general with doctors in US has been that they will say that it's ultimately your decision and they will not be responsible for the side effects. Those types of comments make it hard to make decisions. I was concerned about the side-effects of one of his recommendations. However, he explained things to me very confidently and told me not to worry about it. He backed it up with reasons (age, health, etc) and put my mind at ease. I took the chance and it worked out great (so far)! He was no-nonsense and stayed to the point. He answered all my questions and did not rush. I requested him to call me back after a procedure since I had follow-up questions. He called me the next business day and answered all my questions. Note: It's a challenge to find good doctors and specialists since reviews are scarce. So I have decided to post reviews of my experiences.

While some people seem to have positive experiences with him, it seems that he reserves his professionalism for certain people and not others. Beware. He is unwilling to spend 5 minutes doing something that could change somebody's life for the better. I am undergoing treatment with him and other specialists for why I keep on losing my voice for weeks at a time. I simply needed accommodations for my hoarse voice and LOSING my voice for significant periods of time. This has significantly impacted my ability to participate in class. My voice is GONE. It can come back one day and be completely gone the next day. It is very normal to seek academic accommodations for a loss of voice. For example, if you are taking a language class, sometimes you need to push out your deadlines for presenting if you literally don't have a voice. My school does this through the disabled students department. And currently, consistently losing my voice has become a disability because I literally can't talk and complete some of my assignments. Many teachers ONLY accept accommodations through the disabled students program: informal requests are often denied. He is the first doctor I have ever met who has refused to provide any kind of letter simply asking for accommodations surrounding a lost voice--e.g. something as simple as "this student needs to have flexible deadlines as they often lose their voice. Currently I am not clear on what the diagnosis is, but I request flexibility for their voice loss. Their loss of voice affects them to effectively participate verbally in class, so deadlines may need to be pushed until they regain their voice." Instead, he sent a very rude and low-effort email saying that he is unwilling to write me an accommodations letter simply because he doesn't know what my issue is and disagrees with the other specialist. This is unacceptable. For example, let's say somebody has some other terrible, similarly disabling disease. It might take a couple of months for the specialists to agree on a diagnosis, but they could still be suffering and their ability to participate in society, work, school, etc. is completely affected. They should get accommodations. I'm getting diagnoses or medical opinions thrown at me left and right. Even if different doctors have different opinions, ultimately, one thing remains the same: I have lost my voice for almost 20 days in one month and continue to be hoarse or lose it altogether some days. Other people had recommended this doctor to me. I had high hopes. I have never encountered such an irresponsible, uncaring, and callous doctor before. I don't doubt that he is probably academically brilliant. I just think that he doesn't realize that taking 5-10 minutes out of his day to fill out a form could change someone's life for the better. Even more malicious: perhaps he does, and chooses not to because as a specialist, he is above this kind of work.

Excellent Colonoscopy! Would receive a colonoscopy from again. (and probably will)…read more I need a colonoscopy every 1-2 years due to my medical history. I like to do it without anesthesia so I can get on with my day. I've had 3 from another provider before having one from Dr. Simpson. Best colonoscopy ever! The previous provider would keep pushing the instrument forward no matter what, but Dr. Simpson would back it out and untwist it before going forward again, and this made a huge difference in my discomfort level. He described it like pushing on a rope, trying to get the rope across the room. If the rope snakes up too much, you have to back off to straighten it before pushing forward again. The lab tech (I'm sorry, I forget his name) was also excellent. He was able to put his hand on my abdomen at exactly the right spot, while also providing counter pressure on my back, so that when the instrument turned the corner in my colon it did so well and efficiently the first time. That's the most uncomfortable part of the procedure, but because of their expertise, it went well. Getting a colonoscopy without anesthesia isn't for the faint of heart. I would describe it as "extremely uncomfortable" but it never rose to the level of "pain" with Dr. Simpson. If you are considering it, I highly recommend him as a doctor. He also followed up with me about my genetics and recommendations that were personalized to me, which I greatly appreciate.

I've seen enough GI docs to know that if they can't find anything major and simply call it IBS, believe them. Now what is IBS? That's where you gotta go down the rabbit hole and it well after years and years of seeing doctors and changing my diet I can tell you it's psychological.
