I recently was notified that my Primary Care Physician was leaving my insurance network. I was scheduled to have back surgery and had to have a PCP so I picked Dr. Barrett because he was near my home, period. In all honesty, I really didn't think picking my PCP was important, I just needed to have someone assigned. I literally chose him for the fact he was close to my house. Wow, I got lucky! We went through my entire medical history and my current health and not once did he rush through the appointment - we spent around 50 minutes together, if not more. It is an understatement to say that Dr. Barrett completely understands how to care for a patient in every aspect of their health. He is compassionate, thorough, and so so smart. I am so grateful that I chose Dr. Barrett so carelessly because he is so much more than a Primary Care Physician. I pay $50 monthly to get special one on one service, at least that was the pitch when we first visited this office. But the minute i make a special request to have a blood screening on my 17 year old son, they denied to do the basic blood test. They said they dont do blood screening on teens? Is there a problem with a parent wanting a blood screening for their 17 year old son? With this Dr, there seems to be. We also requested a special allergy test to screen for specific allergies my son may have. When my son and his mom visited the office (taking day out of school and fasting night prior) the primary care physician said he didnt need an allergy test and it would be too cumbersome. So he prescribed a buckshot approach of allergy meds, which is the last thing we wanted, a bunch of drugs. I called to speak to the Dr, Bart Barret while my son was there and he said he would only speak with the parent in the office. He also told me "he doesnt take orders from anyone and he wont be bullied" Needless to say, we cancelled our service with this doctors office and will be seeking a doctor that listens to patient and parent requests and is willing to do special screenings if so requested. The fact that this Dr is deflecting his responsibility in this matter and blaming it on divorced parents, shows his complete lack of concern, lack of empathy and his disingenuous attitude toward his paying customers. Yea, I pay nearly $2500 a month for health insurance and I feel that my concerns should be listened to and addressed when visiting my family care physician. As to your remark the previous time I came in I was told you were stepping back, (congratulations) but your more than capable PA was going to take over with you overseeing the operation. At that point you were accepting new patients. This personal attempt seemed good enough for me and when I made up my mind, I came back to find this out. I was obviously working on old information. It never occurred to me to go back and see if your website said you were leaving, or did it just say you were retiring. I have no problem with having a PA as a primary. My response to Barrett is this: a doctor who refuses to listen to a patient and verbally abuses them, ceases to be a "good doctor". A doctor who dismisses and sneers at a surgeon's pre-op request for a patient and thereby refuses the patients medical need, was never a good doctor but an ego driven example of mediocrity. We have been going to Dr. Barrett's office for the past two years. Although we had never met him personally (until recently) all of the doctors there have been phenomenal. Last week, our daughter was very sick. We called the after-hours number late on a Friday evening. Dr. Barrett happened to be on-call, and after a brief telephone consultation offered to meet us at the office (it was 8pm by this time) to make sure everything was alright. The night before, we took our daughter to an urgent care facility (never again). Dr. Barrett quickly discovered that our daughter's sickness was misdiagnosed and she was taking antibiotics unnecessarily. He reset our level of expectation and advised on what to expect moving forward. We couldn't be happier or more impressed with the level of service we receive at this office. read more

I don't have a Yelp account so I'm using my husbands. I've been in excruciating pain for the past two days. Turns out I have tennis elbow and WOW it hurts so much so that I could NOT focus on anything... level 10 PAIN. Needless to say I logged online and looked for a 5 star review doctor, I found a couple but nobody that could see me today. The office staff was nice and I waited 3 minutes. Dr. Barrett easily spent 30 minutes with me. He was compassionate and informative. He diagnosed the issue & helped to Relieve my pain during my visit... If you want a second opinion, don't worry, he won't let you get it.... and if you do go to a second opinion, expect to be escorted out of his office and verbally exposed to his entire lobby of patients ( violating all HIPPA Laws, of course). This highly arogant professional thinks he's above the laws and will tell you to your face that, you can try to complain but nothing will ever stick! I just watched an ad that said the average wait to see a doctor is 29 days? Unbelievable! I was able to get in and see the good doctor, actually his PA Brandie, in 1 hour and 45 minutes! My experience over the years with this practice has been positive. My needs are minimal and probably average one office visit per year. Unfortunately I'm switching PCP because the practice charges a mandatory $300/year for an "online services fee" which candidly is something all physicians provide (online portal, etc) at no cost. This is on top of the cost for any visits you make/services provided. In a world where health care costs are skyrocketing this seems like a money grab and as I've called to find a new PCP this is absolutely not standard industry practice and in actuality the offices I've spoken to have never heard of such a thing. One thing I'm sure of is even if these services are slightly better than others there is absolutely NO WAY the practice incurs that much additional cost per patient. RESPONSE: Yelp is about reviewing businesses. To imply it is solely about you personally would not be a fair statement (and in most cases I didn't even see you). You made a decision to charge a fee to ALL existing clients (not to add an "enchanted service" option") so naturally some will not agree as they don't necessary need those additional services. Lastly, when I respectfully shared with your team that I didn't need those services so would go elsewhere there was no concern, which is fine..everybody has a choice. I'm writing a review to express how unprofessional this practice has been with me in the time I was here with them. I have a newborn daughter and on her first appointment I was running late. They never told me 15 min late and your appointment would be canceled. I let them know of course. I live 30 minutes away from this office and as a first time mom we all know how hard it is to leave with a new born. Yet alone be in the car that long. They were not going to take me in and gave me such a hard time. That was one. babies appointment was literally done in 5 min because they were ready to close. Dr Barrett has a very old school mentality and isn't informative in what he says or does. When I've called their hotline when I had questions they speak to me like they don't want to be on the phone. I went in for a wrist pain appointment. They felt my wrist and couldn't tell me anything? This here did it for me. I had an appointment scheduled for my daughters wellness check 4 months later. I was told if I'm not vaccinated I'm unable to come in to the office!? WTF! Vaccines are a personal choice and if I'm not sick and I'm masked up then why not let me bring in my daughter? How the hell are you suppose to do a wellness check over the phone? I'm not against a vaccine and I'm not for it. But to be refused service in-house is downright stupid. Anyways I'm just really upset how things were handled very unprofessional. If you made it this far I would definitely reconsider coming here. read more

In these situations, Dr Barrett has never failed to provide me with plenty of information and several options so I can choose the office that's best for me. Dr. Barry and his location is great. He's been in practice for 30 years. That alone should say something but if you're not someone with kids the doctor may or may not be for you. I went there for a complete physical after my doctor just wasn't servicing me properly so we yelped doctors and my wife found Dr. Barrett like I mentioned this location is great for kids, but if you're an adult, it might not be for you. Another thing that really caught me off. Guard was the intake. I told him I wanted a complete physical but no blood work was done. He just basically listen to my chest first on my belly and told me to stop drinking coffee and vaping. The other horrible part was Julie his assistant, who sat in the corner like a creepy person while Dr. Barrett read aloud his notes on me. She only spoke at the very end it freaked me out besides that great place for kids to except the intake, which is weird with the girl sitting in the corner, all in all I would give it would give Dr. Barrett five stars but the location has his staff three stars again. I've only been seeing Dr. Barrett for a few months now, but I can honestly say that if you aren't happy with your primary care doctor, then you need to switch and see Dr. Barrett. First off, he's a doctor that spends time with you and listens to what's ailing you and asks questions. He's not a doctor trying to get through his quota to make a profit. His staff is friendly and always willing to answer your questions no matter how simple they may be. I have only one regret and it's that I waited so long to go and see him. I'm glad I did.
