WillyB Crossfit was everything I was looking for in a crossfit class. The instructors all brought their own personal styles and knowledge to all of the classes which helped to shake things up and stop anyone from getting bored. Being completely new to the world of crossfit I also had some issues with being intimidated to all the new stuff I was going to have to learn, but everyone (instructors as well as other people in my classes) was very approachable and was quick to assist with any questions or concerns I had. Lastly, and most importantly, I am a person with a disability. One of my main concerns was not being integrated into the classes with other able bodied people. This ended up never being an issue because everyone at WillyB took the time to work with me personally to adapt our daily WOD's and warm-ups to something that was realistic but still challenging for my body. If you are on the fence about diving into the world of crossfit I can honestly think of no better place to start with than WillyB Crossfit.

Some of my fav: Will (hilarious & every time was a good workout), Abbee (encouraging & help me challenge myself), Jeff(very professional & nice). Things that could be improved: showers (I didn't need it cuz I lived in the neighborhood), changing rooms, stronger AC Thank you all and wish you all the best! -Tammy

Scam alert! I wish I…read moreread these reviews prior to signing up for the 6 week challenge. I was motivated and hopeful, especially due to prior positive crossfit experiences at other gyms and learned a big lesson about reading reviews first. To be clear: The 6 week challenge which is falsely advertised as free costs $632. If you lose 25 pounds they say you get your money back. Doing the math, this type of program endorses disordered exercise and eating. It's not healthy to lose that amount of weight in 6 weeks They exploit those that have unrealistic goals, financially. Personally, I am writing because I was supposed to start the 6 week challenge right before COVID and they continued to bill be throughout the gym closures. I explained that I would be willing to transfer the money I already paid into a regular membership following COVID and they refused. I called my credit card company since it is illegal to charge for a gym that is closed due to COVID. The credit card company advised to file a claim. They responded by calling collections. I am confident that the credit card company will handle this for me, but am sickened by these practices overall. Mostly, I am genuinely worried about the mental health of potential consumers in the future. The actual classes are extremely variable since the staff are not well trained. The staff themselves told me that they are not treated properly and that there are is little, inconsistent communication with management. It shows in the classes, and the workouts are not as effective as other crossfit programs I have done as a result.

CrossFit Virtuosity is hands down the cleanest and most amenity-rich box I've ever experienced. As far as the workout, instructions were detailed and clear but not exhausting and redundant. The gym is also conveniently located adjacent to McCarren park, so we ran our two miles around the track, which was awesome. I enjoyed my experience so much that I may actually consider starting CrossFit again. Thanks again CrossFit Virtuosity for a wonderful Murph workout.

This place is clearly not as inclusive as they purport to be. Got the message that they don't want my money and are not interested in working with anyone over 30, regardless of fitness level. They seem short staffed and not much interested in expanding their existing clientele. If you don't mind waiting and being judged without even discussing your actual fitness level, then check them out. Otherwise, caveat emptor/buyer beware.

After they made sure I had the needed experience I paid 25$ for a drop-in and had a very, very nice workout with them! The location is just perfect, right next to the East River with a great view of the Manhattan Skyline. Nice new equipment and a great industrial feel! Coach Morgan did a very good job at explaining all the movements needed for the Workout of the Day and made sure to offer scaled-down versions where necessary. (And she had a more than impressive time for 15.5 on the Whiteboard!) The atmosphere overall was very friendly and welcoming! The other CrossFitters were really nice and had some good recommendations on where to get the best burger after the WOD. =) It's been the best CrossFit box I visited on my trips so far! I'd train here regularly if I lived in NYC!

The programs are thoughtful and well-planned, and each session leaves me the appropriate amount of sore (as opposed to dead and unable to walk the next day!) It's a tough but sustainable workout with the bonus of a great group of people to do it with. The community of CrossFitters here is a positive one, and helpful to newbies! The gym itself is amazing; the light always seems to be just right, and there's a huge garage door that comes up when it's nice out.

Reached out to Jared in September regarding cancelation and was informed I would be on the hook another month as I was too close the renewal date. So I paid another month and they put my account on hold for December 1. December 6, I requested my membership be canceled as I did not want to pay for January. On January 1st, I began to receive texts, threatening to send my account to collections if I didn't pay another month. (HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM WILLYB!!!) I informed them of my request to cancel in early December. Their response...? Put your membership on hold for another 3 months. As I had already done this before, I informed them I would not do it again and would report them to the BBB. Yesterday I received a letter from a collection agency on behalf of WillyB. They letter was sent January 7. (Thought you had to be 30 days delinquent to be brought to collections??) They have still not responded to my BBB complaint. WillyB loves to make you feel like you're part of a tight knit community, even a family. But when you try to leave, they treat you just as, if not worst than the cable companies and cell phone providers.
