I joined CrossFit 516 exactly one year ago, and I've gained so much more than I expected. The…read morecoaches, the people, and the atmosphere make it so much more than just a gym you go to before or after work. It's a place you look forward to returning to every time you leave. After feeling like I had reached the limit of what I could achieve on my own at a chain gym, I joined Crossfit516 after doing research into CF. After training at CrossFit 516 for the past 12 months, I'm confident it was the right decision. Many members have been here for over a decade, and it's not uncommon to meet people who have left other CrossFit locations to train here. One of the best parts for newcomers is the intro program, which is perfect for easing into the workouts. The coaches are experts and genuinely care about your progress. The workouts are intense but scalable, making them accessible to all fitness levels. I joined at 39, and there are members younger and older, so neither your age nor current fitness level should hold you back from checking out CrossFit516. One-on-one coaching is available, and training with Coach Ellen has been one of the best decisions I've made (and I've made a lot of great decisions). Initially, I planned to do a few sessions to learn more about Olympic lifting, avoid bad habits, and perform better in class, but I'm going into week 24 and it's far exceeded the goals and expectations I initially set. It's rare to get more out of something than you hope for, but that has defined my experience here. There's always something new to learn in CrossFit, and it's also a lot of fun. Whether you're in class next to someone training for the Open or "just" staying in shape, everyone is welcoming. If you're looking for a place to redefine your limits, achieve your fitness goals, and be part of an amazing community, CrossFit 516 won't let you down. The longevity of Crossfit516 speaks for itself. The coaches are incredible, and their love of CF makes training here nothing but a great experience.

I have been attending Crossfit 516 for the last year now. I'll try to make my review as objective…read moreas possible because after a year I have become friends with the people who run this gym. Also, since this is my first Crossfit gym I like it the most. The trainer/owners Tyler and Logan are excellent. They are knowledgeable, attentive and able to meet the demands of their clients. Now, don't get me wrong, they won't let you quit because you want to and they don't let you skip out on any of the fundamental movements. The beauty of Crossfit is that you engage in every activity. Gymnastics, Bodyweight, Olympic lifts, Cardio, Flexibility are all a part of it. The work out of the day is constantly varied, so you rarely do the same workout. The new trainer Sara is excellent, she is very determined and she commands the class well. So please, even though you hear loud weights banging and atlas stones crashes this is not a male centric gym. There are many women who are bored of the usual gyms who come to Crossfit and see results. No matter what shape you are in, this is a great place to start your fitness career. The environment is very motivating and no one lets you quit. This is common amongst many Crossfit gyms and I have been to seven different gyms now. But what stands out about Crossfit 516 is that we have really developed a family here. Everyone is your friend from the moment you come and in and the people. Also Tyler and Logan command a vision of expanding their space and giving everyone the best experience possible. They plan the workouts weeks in advance and they make sure that your entire hour is worth what you paid for it.

Each session is personalized to what my body needs and Joe puts in all his time and effort to make sure I see the results I want. Even while I have been away at school, Joe has gone out of his way to text me "dorm room circuits" to do when I'm looking for something other than lacrosse. It's encouraging to know that even 800 miles away Joe still wants to be involved and help make sure I'm in my best shape. also nice to have a trainer with a good personality and you can feel like you have a friendship with. Have been giving him sh*t for 4 years and has no problem giving it right back to me. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

With all these experiences behind me, there's always one common theme - I can't motivate myself. I need someone to hold me accountable. Therefore, I tried 3Sixty out to help with my overall fitness goals through personal training. Joe is incredible - working with me through pre-existing injuries (a busted ankle), helping me define realistic goals, and actually (and most importantly) helping me achieve them. The one-on-one environment allows Joe to pay attention to detail and make sure that the exercises are tailored to me and I'm able to perform them in a way that prevents me from getting injured. In the class setting at Soul and Barry's, I'm easily overlooked as one of 50 or so women in a class. That would never happen at 3Sixty because the programs are perfectly fit for each person. The gym is boutique and not intimidating, the people are incredibly talented sports and fitness professionals (not just your average mediocre trainer at the local gym), and signing up for sessions and payment is easy through their app. I highly recommend.

This is not my home location, and I have been to at least 5 other Orangetheory locations before…read morethis one. I only came here 3 times (on 3 separate days with a different instructor for each class) while I was staying in the area. My main complaint about this location is that I only saw 2G options (less people per class than 3G), even during a high-demand period (Transformation Challenge, plus early in the calendar year when people are working on fitness goals). The classes during this time should be 3G to allow for more people to attend instead of filling up so quickly. Transformation Challenge promotes people going to class more often, but that is made difficult when class sizes are so limited. Pros: I do love Orangetheory in general. The class styles benefit me and my doctors have seen improvements in my physical injuries. The equipment in this location is in very good condition, especially compared to locations that have much more volume of people attending classes. The instructors were generally great, but there could have been more attentiveness with the participants making sure we each had the correct form considering the classes here are smaller than most others I have been used to. Convenient location if you drive, can park in the shared shopping center parking lot (though the lot does get very busy). Cons: The con I mentioned above about lack of 3G classes during a really high-demand period. The music and microphone were VERY loud in each of the classes. It hurt my ears while on the treadmill but I didn't find an opportunity to say anything because I didn't want to interrupt my workout, and nobody else was saying anything. I didn't see any earplugs when I came in, so I don't know if they aren't given out at this location or they were just not on display. People had their cellphones with them during class and were using them while actively on the treadmill. I've never been to a location where people weren't reminded not to bring their cellphones into the gym for safety. This location doesn't have as many class offerings as some others, which I completely understand if there isn't demand for it in this area, but after the last morning class before they break for the afternoon I felt rushed even just trying to stretch for a few more minutes. The staff rushes to clean and leave and lock up. This doesn't promote stretching or showering after a class. One day the lights were turned off while I was still getting my coat on near the lockers.

That's not the contention here. The issue is the way I was treated. To make matters worse, the manager, the one who should set the tone for her employees attitudes and behavior, is the rudest one. It's no wonder why they all seem rude AF and not even happy you walked through the door. She doesn't set a good example. After emailing, calling, leaving voicemails, and texting me multiple times a day for days on end to sign up for a free class, I finally set one up. I was told to arrive 30 minutes early. Got a call day-of to make sure I was coming and was told that since I already filled out a form online I could come just 10-15 mins beforehand. Looking back, maybe I misheard, and the person said 5:10 or 5:15, and that's where the confusion comes from. Anyhow, I can take responsibility for being late. But the manager seemed pissed, like very insistent that, "It's 15 minutes beforehand." Said very curtly and with disapproval in her voice like I'm a kindergartener. Well, clearly I thought someone had said 10-15 mins. There was definitely a miscommunication or misunderstanding. Also, no explanation of why, of reasons why this 15 min orientation needed to happen. Which can, you know, help. No, "I'm sorry if there was a misunderstanding, so sorry, but it's policy." No sincerity or care whatsoever. Then, with absolutely no enthusiasm, "Do you want to wait for the next class?" (An hour later.) Normally I would have waited around but the vibes were SO BAD I said no because I was so turned off by this blah staff. They're rude, they don't care, they obviously don't want new customers. I was late, that's on me, but their attitude about the whole thing was just bad customer service. I was SO excited to try something new and meet some new people in the classes. Take my advice and join F45 across the street instead. Nice instructors, friendly, greet you warmly each time.
