He was very confident but real explaining everything. This was a second opinion and he is the surgeon I am trusting with this scary wisdom tooth problem.

I hated the idea of removing two teeth just to put posts and crowns in a teenager's mouth. So I let it go (hoping for a better idea?). But it was now past time for braces,so I bit the bullet--no pun intended. We made an appointment and got in within a couple of weeks. Their office has a good COVID protocol that allows very few people in at one time. We were ushered back to the exam room and went through a new patient questionnaire as well as an interview of sorts, and then the doctor came in to explain the procedure and answer any questions. The teeth had already started to fuse to his jaw bone a bit, making extraction more difficult and time consuming. My son was awake for the procedure and did very well, this for a kiddo with a relatively low pain threshold. I was called back into the room afterwards and again the doctor explained all that happened. We were given post-op instructions and checked out. The staff were all extremely courteous and helpful. Recovery went remarkably well. In fact, I was surprised just how quick it was. My son went from soft food back to his regular diet in just a couple days and didn't complain once of pain. I hope we don't need their services again. But if we ever do need oral surgery in the future, I would definitely go back.

Very "memorable" experience…read more I booked my appointment months in advance and confirmed when prompted. Somehow, the appointment was changed to another date after my confirmation -- with no call, no explanation, and no notice. Impressive system. I drove nearly two hours in snowy weather and arrived on time, only to be told my appointment no longer existed that day. When I calmly showed proof and tried to explain, the staff's response was eye-rolling, visible impatience, and zero effort to help resolve an error that was not mine. I was left feeling dismissed, unwelcome, and frankly uncomfortable. I can't say why I was treated that way, but it's hard not to wonder whether appearance or background played a role when basic courtesy and professionalism disappear so quickly. When I asked for their names to document the incident, they refused and told me to leave. If accountability, communication, and respectful treatment matter to you, I'd suggest confirming things multiple times -- and maybe still prepare for surprises.

They were able to get me in within two weeks for a routine cleaning and x-rays. The cleaning was good. I mentioned that I tend to gag with dental stuff, so they took extra care when placing the films for my x-rays and the tech kept checking on me and going super slow to ensure my comfort. I had a filling that had mostly fallen out. I was able to reschedule a follow up for two days later (they had them sooner, but it didn't work for my schedule). I asked if I would have to be numbed because I hate the dental shots. She said she was pretty confident she could pop out the old filling and replace it with no to minimal pain and she was right. My tooth hurt the tiniest bit, but I'm pretty sure it was just sensitivity when the cold water blasted it. I was in and out in about 20 minutes with my new filling and no numb, drooly mouth. They also accept children. My friend's entire family goes and say the dentists are really good with their kids as well. I don't doubt it. Each room is themed. My cleaning was in the Star Wars room and my filling was in the baseball room. There is plenty for kids (or kids at heart) to look at and be distracted by during dental procedures.

Furthermore, the lady on the phone was kind enough to inform me I would have a tough time finding another place accepting my insurance down the road. I am completely stunned. So it would have been from 2020-2022 I believe. I was in the process of getting braces as an adult which (for me) required trying to pull down an impacted adult tooth from my upper jaw. I saw the first oral surgeon at IOMSA in 2020 when he surgically attached the bracket to my impacted tooth. That surgery I believe went fine. However, a year or so later, when the impacted tooth still wasn't coming down with my braces, the Orthodontist sent me back to IOMSA for a 2nd oral surgery to have them move the bracket and remove "some more bone" from around the impacted tooth. I saw a different oral surgeon this second time. And I told her then that I didn't really want to keep trying to pull the tooth down. I would have rather just gotten the impacted tooth out surgically, and got on with my life. But she insisted that I keep trying to pull it down after opening my jaw up and looking at it. So she continued to move the bracket (as planned). However, she also continued to remove SO MUCH BONE from my jaw that it irreversibly damaged and ruined my mouth and teeth forever. After that surgery, the orthodontist kept telling me how unhappy she was with what they did to me. But I didn't fully understand the impact of it yet. And I was in alot of pain. More than was expected for that type of surgery. What I came to find out is that once that bone is gone, it's gone forever. You can't ever get that bone back in your jaw. So when the orthodontist was unable to pull down that impacted tooth even after the 2nd oral surgery, I was basically screwed. I had to have 3 or 4 bone grafts and tissue grafts to try and at least kind-of repair the damage, but it was never enough. I actually lost a perfectly good tooth adjoining the surgery site because of how much bone loss I had. The good tooth had become loose because the surgeon at IOMSA had removed SO MUCH bone from my upper jaw. And I almost actually lost two teeth (and that was according to yet another oral surgeon at IOMSA who thought he couldn't save either of them). So I went to see a different oral surgeon at that point (outside of IOMSA) as well as a periodontist who had to pull the loose tooth and was able to install two implants in my mouth, but it was really hard for him to do so because of how little bone I had. After getting the final implant crowns from my general dentist last week, he commented on how shocked he was that the periodontist was able to do the implants at all given how little bone I have left. So, my mouth/teeth are FOREVER messed up because of what the surgeon at IOMSA did to me. My teeth will never be straight and i have so much visible damage from that surgery still to this day. The implants sit high up in my jaw because there was no where else for them to go.
