It's been years since I've had Barro's Pizza and it certainly didn't disappoint. Pizza was loaded with toppings that I chose and the sauce was excellent. Crust was thick and perfectly toasted. The young man who took my order was polite and helpful on the phone and when I picked up my order. The dining room was clean and spacious with booths and a tv to watch your favorite game. Thanks for the tasty pie Barro's!!

Ordered the MR "B" combo substituting the ham with sausage. BTW their Sausage is the epitome of SAUSAGE which should be the pizza standard. Their Sausage hasn't changed in 50 years! I get mine 'turned twice'. Order it this way if you like it well done. My reason for 4stars is that the sauce needs just a little something. A spike of seasoning or a little tang. Just something. Maybe I should ask for more next time. The Buffalo Wings are delicious, spicy and cooked perfectly

This place brings back so many memories. I worked at one of their locations briefly back in the early '90s. It was a smaller chain with several spots spread throughout Southern California. It was a staple in my neighborhood and I never forgot that thick crust, cheese, and that spicy sweet sauce. About 15 years ago, my friend and I stumbled upon one of the last remaining locations -- and to our surprise, it was the exact same pizza we remembered from our childhood. Now, even though it's about 30 minutes from home, I still make the drive. It's that good. The longtime owner recently retired and handed the reins to a new owner, who couldn't have been more welcoming. He clearly respects the legacy of this place and I really appreciate how he's kept the quality and vibe alive. Indoor seating, which had been closed for some time, is now open again, and it's great to see the place full of life. Same awesome pizza. Same nostalgic experience. Big props to the new owner for keeping a SoCal classic going strong.

Mr Bs pizza was good, crusty and sauce tasty., just expensive for a pizza.

Haven't been here in quite some time. Small eating area indoors. New owner after 43 years. Pizza was good, salad was OK, wings were uneventful and price was outrageous. I acknowledge prices have gone up, but this was too pricey for a casual pizza dinner. Guess I need to keep a lookout for coupons. Food was good, but price not aligned with the food. Rating 3 due to cost, pizza was good though.

Background On Establishment: The last Barro's Pizza location. There's another restaurant that is located in the City Of Walnut that shares the same name, but they're not related. Barro's Pizza Promise ALL OF OUR PIZZAS ARE MADE WITH THICK SICILIAN CRUST ALL OF OUR PIZZAS ARE SERVED WITH 100% MOZZARELLA CHEESE ALL OF OUR SANDWICHES ARE SERVED WITH REAL CHEESE OUR PIZZA DOUGH IS MADE FRESH DAILY NO PALM OILS OR PRESERVATIVES ADDED ALL ITEMS ARE PREPARED FRESH DAILY Background On Visit: Originally, I had my sights on going to Xtra Cheese. After I yelped another place (Barro's Pizza) nearby, I made my decision to go to Barro's Pizza based on how economical the pricing of the pizza's were compared to Xtra cheese. Location/Parking: Major cross streets are Leffingwell and 1st Ave.. Parking can be found up front. Ambiance/Decor: Ambiance is alright. Dining in is not an option and with that said... there's no restroom available. Service: Service was good. George was friendly and offered great suggestions. Pizza took about 15 minutes to come out. Pizza Of Choice: Decided on the mini Mr. B combo specialty pizza ($8.50) which consisted of pepperoni, canadian smoked ham, mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Thought the pizza was very good and they were quite generous with their toppings. Barro's Pizza For Thought: I wouldn't mind go back for more pizza and try out their wings, salad bar, and sandwiches.

The pizza is good , but what everyone really thought was good, were their chicken wings. Very tasty.

Ask the Community - Barro's Pizza

Was this Barros ever in Stanton Orange County in the 80's?

There was a store in Westminster ( Mcfadden & ?) & one in Huntington Beach on Beach Blvd. (Hiway39) I worked there as a driver, cook, and manager/ Was only take out & Delivery, was only open evenings. Owner was Rick Barro. John's son.

Is this the same as the Barro's in Walnut?

No. From what I understand from the owner at this location Is he is the last of the original Barros. Pizza is good.

Ordered the uptown special the perfect blend of vegetables, cheese, marinara sauce, and meat. I was told it would take about 35 minutes but trust me as soon as I've been in that pizza I don't even remember how long it took all I know I went straight to heaven. This pizza is delicious. They have so many others to try but they also offer sandwiches here. Parking is good and I don't regret a single second stop by or even find out if you can call Dean but when you bite into it, you'll feel the same sensation I did... Wow, somebody found a way to serve heaven in a Pizza.

Before Uptown Pizza Co. existed, this was the location of much loved but much misunderstood…read moreLamppost Pizza, which was(/is?) a chain in name and logo only--I believe every single Lamppost location was franchised. I know this one was. I'm not going to bore or bedazzle or befuddle or bedraggle you with (too many) stories of Uptown Whittier's Lamppost Pizza, mostly because most of those stories are my brother's and his friends' and his former coworkers' (sometimes the same people) stories to tell. I'll only mention Big Frank (RIP) and Tim and Jason and Louie ("Yeah!" "yeah!")--yes, that Louie (RIP). But Lamppost is in Uptown Pizza Co.'s DNA, or at least Big Frank's special, super secret sauce is baked into the walls of this place's pizza oven, because all these years and decades later, the pizza from Uptown Pizza Co. tastes very similar to the pizza from Lamppost Pizza in the 1980s and 1990s, which is to say that it's very good. "But John S.," you're probably shouting from your easy chair, "if the owner(s) of Uptown Pizza Co. bought the business from Big Frank, then he probably gave the owner(s) his recipe!" And there, my dear, intrepid, and sadly all too impressionable readers, you would be dead wrong. Frank never shared his recipe with anyone. Not with Tim (his most trusted manager), not with his two sons (whom he hoped would take over the business), and not even with his wife. It was such a secret that Frank refused to make the sauce at the pizza place, lest someone should see him and reverse engineer the recipe by sight. No, he assembled the sauce packets on the kitchen table in his house on Mollyknoll Avenue way on the eastern side of Whitter, loaded the packets into his truck, and brought them to work each day. Perhaps unknowingly, Uptown Pizza Co. pays a kind of perverse homage to Big Frank's secretive sauce packets by giving away its Parmesan cheese in little plastic dime bags. The pizza is very good. Every time my brother is in town and we're talking about ordering pizza, he's the first to volunteer to drive all the way to Uptown to pick it up. If these walls could talk, they'd get an R-rating for bad language alone. And don't even get me started on what transpired in the alley behind the pizza shop. I don't even want to know the truth.

The sauce, the cheese, the wood fire cooking, the crust! Everything was phenomenal. This spot is so easy to miss. Inside the old bank in uptown Whittier.
