Barro's special sub olive for ham, extra thin crust. Small = 2 meals!
Sarah B.

Food is typically consistent but the attitude at times can make one run for the hills. For example, if another patron is screaming obscenities at their children, or has cell phone cranked to levels blasting over tv and all other sound in restaurant and you ask staff to address they will at best be rude to you. Today I asked about a gluten free option for coupon I received. Girl at register was demeaning and said they don't offer special treatment. When I tried to politely explain it's not special treatment when it's a dietary need she got very nasty, cut me off almost yelling about prices. I have been a very loyal customer and consistently add a small tip for what is not really a service restaurant. But being chewed out like that out of ignorance is unacceptable. Definitely evidence of why Arizona is the 50th in the nation for education. Special treatment is actually what is required to put up with the low standards and lack of basic respect that is so often prevalent here.

Fingernail on the pizza

Ordered a pizza and wings tonight. Got home and noticed a fingernail on one of the slices. Good thing we noticed it before eating it. Called the location and said we just want to let you know we found a fingernail on the pizza. The employee responded with our fingernails are fine over here. I said no we found a fingernail on the pizza we picked up from your location. She said ok. I said have a nice night. This will be the last time ordering from this location. Picture has been provided.

Love it! Always great! Barro's always "slaps" as my kids say we ordered 3 pizzas... pepperoni, cheese and a special. All three were hits. Also, the wings tonight were perfect. We ordered 1 order of Buffalo and 2 orders of bbq.

Barro's is consistent with the same great taste and quality for years. The super busy location has some great service with quick cooking times. Served hot and fresh I dined In yesterday for dinner. The service team was prompt with walk in traffic while overloaded with to go orders they never missed a beat. The clean dining area was an enjoyable wait until I was served. My pizza and wings were mighty tasty laid at the table with a smile.

This is what I have got in the past for extra well done.

I can't believe I am writing this. I never leave a bad review unless if I have an absolutely horrible experience. I have ordered from Barro's for years and I have never had an issue up until today. I have been ordering my pizza extra well done since we add ricotta so it isn't just falling all over the place. I usually go pick up the pizza but today my boyfriend went instead. When he arrived home we went to open the box and the pizza was burnt. BLACK BURNT. You can't even bite into it burnt. I called and the girl said she can remake it she was nice as the front girls always are. She told me to hold then the manager came back on the phone. His name was Chad. Chad was very rude from the moment he started talking. "Hi mam you ordered the pizza double well done which is what you got. I took out and cut the pizza myself. That was what you ordered." I was appalled but kept calm because I have worked retail before and customer service. I work at it daily. He was not giving me any options. I told him I order from you guys all of the time and have never had an issue which is why I'm calling. He then told me that new management just took over a month and a half ago. I told him to check my order history as I have ordered extra well done in the past and I was confused as to why this pie was different(burnt). He checked and said the past 2 times you ordered extra well done but the time before that you didn't. Which made no sense but he wasn't making sense from the moment he answered the phone so I ignored that. I asked him if the two last orders were with them or the old management team. He then tells me it is them. I told him okay so I'm confused why is this pie different. He then asks me "well do you want to bring it back and make you a new one?" .... ummmm I asked that from the very beginning. I couldn't believe the conversation. I know they say customer is always right but this time that is 100000% true. Anywho fast forward 35 minutes later I go in to take it back. The cashier was nice and said okay let me take this back to my manager. He was walking out at that moment with a pie. I stared at him and he did not make eye contact with me once. He was avoiding me. I just stood there and so did the girl. She then said I think that is yours. Chad proceeds to look at her and say yes it is. I couldn't believe he was the manager. This location will go the opposite direction if he is in charge. No acknowledgement or apology. Just straight up rude!!! I am upset because of him they lost a customer. I will now have to order from another location. This is the burnt pie I first got. The bottom is what I have got in the past which is extra well done what I ordered once again.

While the service was adequate, the food more than made up for it and quickly became the highlight of the evening. We started with the Sicilian Strada Board, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Beautifully presented on an impressive five-foot board, it offered an abundant assortment of flavors and textures. From the perfectly crispy calamari and creamy polenta to Tomaso's signature meatballs, every item was thoughtfully prepared and incredibly flavorful. The artisanal cured meats and cheeses paired wonderfully with the bruschetta, Roman artichokes, Sicilian olives, and sweet fig jam, creating a memorable appetizer experience that was perfect for sharing. We also ordered the Cured Meat and Cheese Board, which was equally impressive. The selection of artisanal meats and cheeses was excellent, complemented by fresh grapes, grilled ciabatta, Roman artichokes, olives, and fig jam. Every bite felt carefully curated and highlighted the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients. For my entrée, I chose the Cacio e Pepe, a classic dish executed beautifully. The freshly cracked black pepper and pecorino created a rich, velvety sauce that coated the pasta perfectly. Simple in concept yet incredibly satisfying, it was a wonderful example of how a few high-quality ingredients can create something truly outstanding. The cocktails were also exceptional--easily a 10/10. Expertly crafted, balanced, and delicious, they complemented the meal perfectly and elevated the overall dining experience. The Sicilian Butcher offers a vibrant atmosphere, generous portions, and food that genuinely impresses. While the service could have been a bit more attentive, the outstanding cuisine and phenomenal cocktails make this a restaurant I would happily return to again and again.

The decor is a bit dark, but chic & colorful. Our server, Esmerelda, was fantastic: funny, attentive, polite. There was a guy there who seemed to be the Jack of all trades. He brought us our food, I saw him behind the bar, and even bussing tables. He, too, was friendly & smiley. Cocktails: they had a great selection but we went with plain ol' Cokes. That's okay, we'll partake of their boozy drinks when we visit again. Food: parmesan truffle fries were aah-mazing. I even told Esmerelda they should add a pizza with the garlic aioli. The buffalo mozzarella had a bit of a kick to the sauce; we could have used more toasted bread to dip into it. We ordered the heaven and bianca pizzas. The crust was thinner than normal, which I was happy about, and the flavors of both were delicious. Dessert: despite not finishing the appetizers & pizza (no worries, we thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers!), we opted for a gelato flight. It was divine, and hefty samples. You wouldn't think 4 oz was much, but of gelato, it was plenty. We selected chocolate, strawberry, salted caramel, and mango. If you haven't tried Roma 23, I highly recommend it. Even if you don't live close by, it is worth the drive.

When we did manage to get in, we ordered a glass of pinot noir and Pelligrino to drink. The waitress brought out a glass of white wine and insisted this was their pinot noir... even the bartender confirmed. So the staff is NOT wine savvy, I wouldn't trust their recommendations on pairings here either. They didn't have any Pelligrino left, so I ended up getting an arnold palmer. However, when they brought the check out, the Pelligrino was still on the tab and we had to ask them to take it off. We both got pasta, the lasagna and the chicken masala, and a caesar salad. The noodles tasted like it was made in house, which was nice. Chicken was not overly breaded and the sauce was light. The salad had too much cheese but I think some people just like that on their salad. I'm interested to try their pizza at some point in the future, assuming we can make it in time before they close ;)

The food, decor, and ambiance are fantastic. My family and I ate at L'Amore 2 nights in a row, and had we discovered it earlier in our vacation, we would have gone every single night (not kidding). While we've had equally delicious meals at other restaurants (all over the world), we have NEVER experienced such friendly, accommodating and welcoming service as what we received at L'Amore. I said to my husband "this must be what it feels like to be a member of a private club", and he agreed. We have an adult son with autism who will only eat a few dishes at restaurants. I called several restaurants to see if they serve chicken tenders and french fries; ALL of the restaurants we called said no-- until I called L'Amore. When I explained our situation, I was connected to the kitchen, explained our situation, and the chef immediately asked his staff if they had any potatoes to make french fries. (French fries are not on the menu). They said yes, and the chef said they'd be happy to make french fries for our son. When we arrived at L'Amore that evening, the owner/manager came by our table to welcome us. Our server, Sal, could not have been nicer, and addressed our son by his first name all evening. His co-manager assisted our son in accessing his iPad via their WiFi. When we returned the second night, the young male concierge welcomed us by name (even though we hadn't told him our name yet), and both managers visited our table that night. Sal was helpful in navigating the menu, recommended a wine by the glass that is typically only served as a bottle, and was incredibly kind and attentive all evening, without ever being intrusive. My husband and I were so moved by the kindnesses shown to our family. We'll never forget it, and look forward to returning to L'Amore on future vacations. Thank you, L'Amore for rekindling my faith in humanity.

It came with grilled ciabatta, arugula, shaved red onion, and a Calabrian vinaigrette. The burrata was incredibly creamy and paired perfectly with the tomatoes, while the crunchy ciabatta added a wonderful contrast in texture. My husband chose the Sicilian meatballs, which were served over creamy polenta with rustic marinara and grana padano, also a very solid dish. For our entrees, we had the hot honey & smoked prosciutto pizza and the strozzapreti, a pasta dish with herb-roasted chicken, mushroom, spinach, parmesan cream, truffle, and pine nuts). Both were fantastic! The pizza nailed that sweet and savory flavor profile, and the crust was absolutely perfect. The strozzapreti was also delicious -- rich, creamy, and packed with mushroom and truffle flavor. Last time we visited the North Italia Phoenix location, the pasta was a bit too soft and lacked that proper al dente bite, but this time it was cooked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the desserts were a letdown. We tried the hazelnut torta and the tiramisu, but both were overwhelmingly sweet. The tiramisu tasted soggy, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a long time instead of being freshly made, and the chocolate balls on top felt unnecessary and cheapened the dish. The service was also a bit of a mixed bag. Somehow our desserts were brought out before we had even finished our entrees. As a result, the ice cream on top of the hazelnut torta just sat there melting by the time we were ready for it. It made the end of the meal feel rushed, like they were trying to turn the table over quickly.
