I worked for Barrister years ago. Only once did things go as planned. My first work order: I was on time. I had the manuals for the printer which was called out in the work order. The parts arrived. The printer which was onsite did not match the work order, different brand. The parts were for a third brand. There was nothing to do. I called Barrister and they said they would take care of it and tried to weasel out of paying because I could not start, much less complete the work order. We negotiated because I was there and ready, none of this was my fault. Job after job was like this. Four trips to install a printer: No parts, some parts, only toner, the rest of the parts (duplexer and additional paper tray). The last straw? I was asked to do a printer repair out of state, $45, I said, "no!" A few days later they called to negotiate. We came to an agreement. I arrived, at the right place, at a completely different address, only the city and state were correct. I lucked out trying to find the place - a mail delivery guy knew where my Point of Contact worked and knew how/why Barrister got the name wrong - only partly their fault. More complications, of course, Barrister requires you to contact them once you are onsite, from your cell phone... cell service stops 1.5 miles away. I waited 4.5 hours for one of two parts, which were "guaranteed" to be onsite prior to my arrival, to be delivered. By Barrister rules I MUST notify them immediately if all of the parts do not arrive and I CANNOT leave the site until the work order is complete. I left, called, they wanted me to do what I could, I did. They promised they would track the other part down and have it there before close of business. You might have already guessed that this did not happen. Barrister called a week later and wanted me to complete the assignment - at NO additional cost. I flat out refused and told them it was the same as last time or no deal. They refused, at first... after they could not get anyone else to do it, much less cheaper, they called me back. Once again the part was not there when I arrived, and not for several hours more. They also tried to pull a fast one. Barrister emailed a questionnaire to the client, not in an attached form but in the body of the email. The email stated I would be rewarded with a cash card if I got a perfect score. It also stated I would never be used again if I didn't. It also stated that this was a secret review process, the client was not supposed to tell me about it. After the job was complete she not only told me, but gave me a copy of her emailed reply, with a perfect score. Barrister denied that I was reviewed. When I said I had proof they lied about my score. When I submitted my copy of the email to them they promised I would receive the cash card in no more than ten business days. It has been over seven years and I have yet to receive it. They still call, hoping I will take on a work order. Mostly I ignore them. Every once in a while I will talk with them and tell them I could never commit to another work order before I get that cash card. That is what you can expect your experience to be like, if you work for them. Find some other company to do the same thing with. You will gain valuable experience and any other contractor is better. read more

This company is the worst I ever done work for, as a contractor. They will stop paying you. They will charge late fees of 100 dollars when each call pays half that. If the customer reschedules for another day, they will dock you for a no show with 100 dollars penalty for each call. Micro managing everything you do to the point of harassment. They would not provide me with a 1099 nec form to do my taxes. Call center and management located mostly in Albania. They don't communicate procedures of how to do things, leaving you out to dry. Their mobile app rarely works properly with lots of errors. This company has been sued alot. They are a scam. Please stay away from them. You will get screwed. read more

This company is a joke to work for. They expect you to take jobs that are a 3 hour round trip and only receive $35 in compensation (If you are an actual tech, you should be paid what your standard hourly rate is. Remember you are doing all the work for them and then they want the bulk of the money). They also expect you to dress like you are make $200,000 a year when you show up on site. The worst company to work. They scam and don't pay you after the job is done. When you call, they give one email but they never respond. You will regret. Not recommended to reveal SSN to them. They call you to be onsite on time. You reach early but they accuse of reaching late. And they deduct your pay as penalty. And they hold your payment. I had to report to court to get my payment of work. You are warned not to work for this company. It is just a scam and you will be badly cheated. read more

This is the worst company you could ever do work for! After doing several service calls for them, you have to fight tooth and nail to get paid. ​I gave up after several months of not being paid for service call that was completed. These guys are a joke, they have no good tech support, they send wrong parts and when you arrive they won't pay you for your trip or your call even though they sent the wrong parts. FIELD TECHNICIANS BEWARE!! I was sent on a work order contract which would pay $45 per hour for 6 hours. I was required to hire a helper. The helper would also be working for 6 hours at $45 per hour. We arrived at the work location, driving for 3 and a half hours. Travel time not paid. The office building was vacant. After phone calls here and there we learned the work was completed some days earlier. Barristers scheduling error. THEIR MISTAKE. I upheld my end of the contract. So, it cost me $75 for fuel. I had to pay my helper $200 for the day. Now I'm in it for $275. The Barrister Company is paying me $92.25 and paying my helper $25. $150 loss. I was supposed to be paid $270 for each contract, totaling $540 for the day. The Barrister Global Services Co. will not respond to my pay dispute inquiries. I will revise this posting if I get paid for the day. read more

I should have listened to Rich, Jed, and Edgar, they convinced me it was OK to go pickup a part when it had not arrived locally at a McDonald's, WO arrival was for 12:15 PM, which I questioned them about, but they confirmed it, said it would be OK, and yes I would reimbursed for my time, got there no Aruba router, calls to Barrister then refer me to a referral to at&t and Hammersbach, both driving this repair, found out two 2 techs had been dispatched they both left after no part, I did track it down to the local hold for pickup parts warehouse well in De Pere WI, I was in Appleton working, so after calls back to Barrister, and at&t and Hammersbach left the McDonald's, as lobby was closed for patrons, parking lot to go get it, out in car dialing for part location, and utilizing chargers in car for laptop and both of my cell phones, at some point found out we cannot install until the close though, at 9 or possible we can start earlier, so I get back around 530 to 6 and begin the process, check with a local regional tech who swung by from McDonald's and he was a godsend, a major issue was the firmware upgrade situation, they could not upgrade over the wire, 30 to 40 minute process normally, and mandatory, we had to reset the router, 2 paper clip method, held in simultaneously so 2 buttons, we were able to get it reset to default eventually, unplug plug in unplug plug unplug plug unplug plug in, and has I had been emailed the correct latest firmware , I was able to add another Ethernet cable and attach locally and perform the upgrade, as it did not go as smooth as they said it would, all said and down onsite 1130 pm, paperwork uploaded and about a 15 min wait and then checkout process, so midnight from parking lot, locked doors and out of building 1130, a few days later nice pleasant cal to confirm details, that never goes well, and no check billing hours reduced from 11.75 to 4 they deducted for an hour lunch, 1 hour, what "lunch" ate a cheese burger up on a ladder this thing was 9 feet up in the air on a rack, between reboots, and the firmware upgrade process, screwed out of 7.75 hours, why because they called McDonald's, and the said yes I was there, but the time I was "onsite" was 7 to 1130, approx, they called a night manager she did confirm we were working on the upgrade but there was also the prep work, cleaning out the room, bringing in a tall ladder we were going to be 9 feet in the air, labeling cables 1 to 8 and 40 to 48 you have to get those right when removing old router and plugging back in or you are screwed, so what no call to a day manager?? Arrived searched no part, they also need to call the day manager, as no manager is there 12 pm to midnight, and so then not physically in the building noon to midnight, the entire time, they disavowed the 2 hours literally it took to track it down where it was, then the drive to De Pere, how do the the hours upon hours spent on the phone trying to track down the router, the part not count, , I sent them the screen shots of both phones showing literally 4 dozen if not more, calls to Barrister from Barrister, to at&t and Hemmersbach yet nothing matters, basically they tell you one thing knowing all along you are going to be screwed on your time, in the end, they will find a loophole not to pay you or fine you, Calls emails to pay issues at Barrister all come back with excuse after excuse like not physically being there in the dining area making the calls so the McDonald's people could "see" me making an effort tracking down the parts doing Barristers Job, I called Patti at the warehouse between 330 and 4 to confirm yes based on the tracking number the router was there, again my phone call shows the call on the screen shot page, I said are there plans to deliver it to site, she confirmed yes and said if not picked up this week going back like, to shipper like the parts she got in last week, and already sent back, explains now the reason the previous 2 techs arrived with no part onsite. I also have signed copies of paperwork showing I picked the router up and at what time, So instead of getting an atta boy, good job, well done, case closed, I get the shaft, and -7.75 hours not reimbursed for off the repair. I worked a few jobs for Barrister Global, but when they decided to not pay me for my work I stopped answering their calls. A few months went by, and I started receiving calls from them. I decided to answer one of the calls and attempted to explain to the phone tech that not only does barristers still owe me money, I wasn't going to drive for 5 hours for a flat rate of $90. The conversation ended abruptly. Barristers then spam called me for nearly an hour. In the course of about 45 minutes, I received over 30 calls from them. When I answered, sometimes they would hang up, sometimes they would immediately place me on hold. Barristers disrespects you, they rob you of you hard earned money, and their pay rates are an insult. read more

I work for them and have for years but the last couple of years they changed. They are rude to me, want me to do jobs that are theirs to do. Bully me about working and low-ball the prices. Mostly HOME DEPOT projects and I have supported the team there for 10 years. After I get them stable with their devices, I am stopping. I guess during COVID the good ones got better jobs and they recruit office help from somewhere else. Tell me a certain rate, then don't apply to their useless "portal" I can't use it since once I open a project it won't let me close since I am in the Caribbean and the time stamp looks like I am "checking out in the future". I can't use their CALL CENTER since their area code doesn't work from here. The UPS GROUND labels are useless on and island and I have to get labels from them for YEARS and they still can't get it right. I was told by my handler I had to contact CORES. I never had to before and isn't that YOUR job? Then I have to upload photos, documents, format and label them to upload and I don't get paid for that time. Technicians beware! read more

Horrible company! The company calls all day every day at late hours. They never pay!. They make up excuses to not pay.

If you are a technician looking for a contract services company, this is not the company for you. They are guaranteed to not only not pay you on time, they will dock your pay if you want to be paid like a normal person (within 14 days of completing a job), they will charge you for not returning parts that their own system shows as being returned, and they will ask you to do corporate jobs for far less than their normal pricing practices. I worked for them off and on for almost 3 years, and while it started out as an okay experience, I quickly learned that this is a company with a split personality. The consumer side of the company has many quirks that will quickly leave you in hock to the company for hundreds of dollars for "contract violations." This is the side of the company that you will see many, many, many complaints about online. There is a second side of the company that I refer to as the Professional/Corporate Side. This section features almost exclusively American call center personnel, and they deal almost exclusively with big corporate customers and the Federal Government. This group tends to pay extremely well and generally treats their technicians with respect. The only drawback to this group is that they still use the same payment system of the consumer side, where you get paid for free in 30 days, or you pay a fee to get paid within 14 days (2 weeks) of completing a job. The reason I stopped working for the company was because they accepted a big printer install contract from a major retailer, and instead of paying their technicians the usual $45 per printer installed, they wanted to pay only $60 for installing 3 or 4 printers per job site. They didn't explain this when I initially accept the jobs, and I didn't find out how much I was being ripped off until 2 job sites into the contract. I had to finish the other 3 job sites or be penalized $200 per job site I dropped. read more

Barrister has been very unethical. We've done field service work for them several times. Almost always we are lied to, short-paid. We began refusing any of their jobs. Now they call our stores and offer our techs jobs direct, even using their personal cell phones they have on file from our service work for them. read more

Was contacted many times for technician work. AVOID THIS PLACE! They try to cheat you out of the money you earn, I applied and read the details? Dont know how they stay in business at all. Alot of upset techs who dont get paid. They offer you the job without any checks of skills or background, you get probably $5 to $10 per hour after they take out money; Today they left me a 3 min voicemail? all lame elevator music for 3 full minutes. I called and said Im returning a call for tech work? they just hung up on me. Searched my emails and found that I had contacted them saying never ask me to work for you again. You know, for a woman owned business, I've never spoken to a woman. And all the staff have such a heavy, non-English accent, I cannot understand them. They sent me out on a job and I refuse to do another one for them. They are cheap, cheap, cheap. An hour job for $50 and I have to pay for travel including an hour ride and a $20 toll. Right. Never work or hire this company they will screw over all their technicians and contractors and charge fictitious fraudulent fees to the contractors over thousands of dollars so you won't even get paid you will be owing them money so they won't have to pay you. Also they hassle you with your payment which won't be paid for months for jobs rendered and they lie and try to steal from you saying you owe them money for parts at supposedly we're on site yet they weren't and if you don't send them back they charge you $1,000 for a tiny part highly do not recommend this company to work for or to do work for you Barrister is a worst company ever! read more

As a technician, I often don't accept any of their work orders. When I do it's because I'm having a slow moment and wish to spend a ton of time to get paid. They just charged me a "late" fee of $25 for arriving at an appointment scheduled between 0900 - 1100 at 0923. Now I have to EMAIL their "pay issues" department (yes, a whole department devoted to pay issues) and WAIT 5 business days for a response (they must be THAT busy) though it used to be ten days. They don't pay standard rates, scoff whenever I try and counteroffer for travel (sometimes over 100 miles away) and then charge erroneous charges for their technicians. One time, they refused to pay me for a service call citing the customer complained about me. I contacted the customer and they said no such thing. I responded back to them and they suspended me for contacting a customer of theirs. I was only reinstated after talking to the OWNER of the company. If you are a technician, stay clear. Once I get my current pay issue resolved, I am no longer associating with this company and will urge other technicians to do the same. read more
