We have been with Barrier for approx. Two months. The first spray they sent a young man who was very professional and knowledgeable and answered our questions. He was very polite. About a month after, we started noticing ants and spiders again. We called them and the receptionist set up another spray for the following week. She was also very polite. (We used Edge before and their customer support just felt fake nice and annoyed with us, so this was a nice change!) They came out the next week and sprayed again. It has now been 3 or so weeks since then and I am seeing the "pincher bugs" and spiders out again. (This is actually not something that happened with Edge. We didn't see any critters after the initial spray.) We have to sell our house and move unexpectedly and I am really hoping that they honor our payment and continue services for the new owners. We paid a year in advanceI will update my review if they say otherwise because it would really suck to be out $439. read more

After 5 years we finally cancelled today. The work done by them has always been questionable. We've had an ongoing problem with ants which they've never been able to resolve. This last weekend was the final straw. They sent a text stating when they would be out for their routine treatment. Then they lied about coming. He sent a text saying he had just finished with the time he arrived. We were home the entire day with the windows open and in fact, my husband was working in the yard. He was never there. Our yard is small, so it would have been impossible to miss him. Also, our Yorkie barks like crazy whenever anyone knocks on the door or is in the yard. My dog never made a sound. read more

Amazing service. They are friendly, fast and efficient. They did everything I asked for. Max did a great job on my house the last time he was here. read more

In my opinion, Barrier Pest Control is a Bait and switch operation. Theybtrll you ome thing and do another. They quote one charge and bill you for another. They do not give you the information about the charges or terms or explain all of the add on charges until the work is done. Their phone explanation is very brief. It wasn't until we were well underway with the treatments that I find out all of the recurring charges. There are addional charges for fly treatment. Additional charges for yard treatment. On and on. I was first told that it would be $100.00 cancellation fee. The when I actually decided to cancel the service, it became a $150.00 cancellation fee!!! I was never happy with the service that was provided initially. Even less with the customer service provided. My feelings are that it is a scam of a company. I do not recommend this company. Beware when accepting it. read more

Max is a great technician. He answered all of our questions and did a quick and efficient service on our home. Request him if you can!!

They came out to our house even though we have a no soliciting sign. They convinced my mom to sign up for the service. She does not remember signing a contract. They came out and spray the house one time in the summer. We did not notice any great reduction in insects so my mom called and requested they don't come back. They have not been back to the house since then. Now they are sending her bills for service they have not completed and want $215 to cancel service ( what service? ), late fees, etc. Stay away from Barrier Pest Control. Their salesmen don't respect signs, will charge for service they have not provided and hard to cancel. They are threatening to put a lien on her house now for a service they only did once. read more

I had a young man show up at my house. very nice young man. He sold me on the pest control and told me guaranteed to get rid of bugs, bees and mice. He said if there were any problems or saw any bugs they would be out if 5 mins. That is clearly not the case. two days later I called BPC and never got a call back. I then attempted to call the next day and spoke with a woman that said to give it a few days and call back if it didn't get better. I've tried calling twice since with no answer. I've seen more ants and bee's than I ever had before. I gave up on calling them. I'm stuck in a contract and can't cancel. I've since sprayed a few more times. I would advise not using this company that I've never heard of before this. it's clearly a shady company. read more

Such a great locally owned company to work with! Every year we get tons of Elm Seed Bugs along with all your other creepy crawlies and Barrier has done an excellent job of keeping them out of our home! Great customer service and always willing to come back out if any other issues arise! Definitely recommend them for anyone looking for pest control in the Treasure Valley! read more

They did fine but we had issues in between every single spraying. We had webs, spiders. We tried them for 1 year. It wasn't great, although my husband loved that they handled the wasps. The communication could have been better. Our biggest issue was having issues with pests in between services. read more

**THE ONLY PEST IN YOUR HOME IS BARRIER PEST CONTROL** How many chances would you give a hair dresser? You'd give them one chance to fix it and then never go back. Well, I paid them TWICE and still not happy - now they want me to PAY them to stop coming. Buyer beware - if you aren't satisfied, they don't care. I was not impressed by the service at all with the first visit. I still had lots of ants in my kitchen and beetles in our house. We contacted them and they said 'well thats normal because our system needs a second application to kill the egg cycle etc." honestly, i think that's BUNK, but I decided to trust them and they moved up my second service to deal with the issue. They said the tech would set special ant traps in the kitchen. That was a few days ago. They never set the ant traps and Well, they missed a bunch of wasp nests on my back fence! Honestly, I work hard so I can pay $200 to NOT have to deal with them and peace of mind when the kids are playing in the back yard. I had to deal with the wasps nests right away, so I took some pictures first for proof and did it myself. At this point we're in $400 bucks ish and I'm doing my own bug service. I let them know I don't want to work with them anymore and they keep offering a free retreatement - I don't know what that is going to do because the first 2 didn't do anything for us. No significant improvement in bugs at all. Anyway at this point I just don't want anymore service from Barrier Pest control - should be easy right ... nope my contract is for one year or 3 more quartely treatments. I wish that was true, but I'm not going to pay for something that doesn't work and people who aren't producing results for me. But, they want me to pay them $150 to NOT come back! Apparently $150 was the 'discount' I received on my first treatment. So I have to pay them the 'discount' back to get out of the other 3 quarterly treatments. I don't want to do that, hell I didn't even ask for a refund - I just want to stop working with this company! Well, Barrier pest control, I PAID you for the opportunity to test out your services 2x and never again will you get a dime. SHAME ON ME FOR BEING A FOOL and SHAME ON YOU FOR BEING SHADY. Want a resolution customer service team? Just cancel my contract without a fee. My gift to you is payment for no service. read more

Full disclosure: I have not used Barrier. But I was ready to sign up based upon an industry recommendation until I got the customer agreement written by their lawyer. Barrier refuses to take any liability risk for damages to your property and transfers it all to the homeowner. I told them that I could not accept that statement as written and their rep then tried to tell me "what that means". I told her that if they meant what she said why isn't it in writing? I am also concerned about the comments below that talk about going to collections if a contract is cancelled with unused treatments still under the contract. That tells me that they need the collections (for unperformed services) to keep their business solvent. And the price they quoted me was approximately 20% higher than a competitive price. read more

Great value. Prompt, efficient service with a great guarantee. I will definitely use their services again.

I didn't want to call a pest control company but the spiders here are unmanageable. When I first contacted this company I felt they listened to my concerns and my first service experience was good. I was told they spray from house to fence, which included the grass. I only wanted the perimeter of the house sprayed to limit exposure. Things changed dramatically after that visit. I have Bernese Mountain Dogs and if you know about this breed, you know they already have an immune compromised system. I lost a dog recently to lymphoma, which you get from lawn products. Going forward from the first visit I advised them I no longer wanted the backyard sprayed. The photos are a bush next to my storage shed in the backyard. I've never sprayed them and never asked them to be sprayed. The company says they didn't spray them. Why were they in my backyard if I had advised prior I don't want service in the backyard? I did ask if they would spray my shed, when I was told it was an additional charge of $10, I said no. I have a hard time paying for extras when I'm paying for full service and not taking advantage of the full service. I consider this as price gouging. I have come to the end of my commitment with this company, and I'm glad it's done. I would not recommend them. read more

I agreed with many of the reviewers that Barrier is a dishonest business. They give you a sales pitch, lying to you about the service and prices, then when you agree that that sounds good and sign a contract, you learn later on thst it was all lies. PLEASE READ YOUR CONTRACT CLOSELY AND DO NOT SIGN IF IT IS NOT WHAT THEY TOLD YOU.. Especially number of treatments, costs of them and how much to cancel. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE. read more

Eric is amazing! I had to have a touch up as the last one was during bad weather and it suddenly warmed up. And BOY HOWDY did the bugs come out of the woodwork! Could not keep up with the wasps, ants and yellow jackets. So Eric came out and took excellent care of the problem...it's been soooo peaceful and I can sit out in my yard now. With no fear. Thanks Eric!! read more

An amazing service that keeps my home bug free, ranging everything fly to spider. This is a service I recommend to every home owner I know.

I'm sad to write this review. I had them provide services, for the first year, maybe two they were great. After that the services were rushed, the customer service wasn't there and calling to request services were hard to schedule. The last call, I had ants all over the back yard, they were all over and on my dogs. They refused to come out because the ants were not, "in or on the house." I went to collections with them for like $100. Ridiculous. Buyer beware!! I'm get that if you don't pay your bill you go to collections. However, I'm not paying anything for a service not provided. read more

We used Barrier for quite some time (4+ years) and recently changed and found better service with another carrier for less money. We had requested that service be provided at the same time every month/quarter and they could just not get that scheduled correctly. It was about what worked best in their schedule and not accommodating the customer's schedule. We had to remind staff what our services were regularly. This just seems basic to me. They definitely were good about coming out to respray as necessary and address specific needs as requested. Staff that came onsite was professional and courteous, and recently office staff became too over zealous with collecting when my wife became unemployed. Not very empathetic with customer situations. We are about loyalty and if they have none towards their customers then customers should not have any towards them, when customers have many options to choose from. read more

I'm not happy with this company. They were supposed to do 5 treatments in 2021. On more than one occasion they didn't show up after I took the time off work to allow them inside to only treat for spiders. When they did show up, their tech was only on-site a few minutes. I did have them come back out because of poor service and that didn't work either. I never renewed their service, however they interrupt their vague service agreement, so that they can perform their treatments when they choose fit no matter how many months it takes. That's not fair or binding. Do you want to do business with a company attitude like this? They came to my home more than 5X times in 2021, they think they can still bill me for a $150 cancellation fee for an agreement that expired last year after and having paid for all the treatments that didn't work. We'll see if the courts think they treat consumers fairly. Bottom line is I don't believe some of these reviews are real because their service is poor at best and was never punctual and I doubt I'm the only one. I should have checked them with BBB 1st!!! I'll control spiders myself rather than paying someone $89 to spend a few minutes at my home and not get the job the done. read more

I had been a customer for years. They changed their payment processing vendor and then contacted me to update my payment info. Apparently in two months they lost it and then sent me a collections notice that they were going to take legal action against me for non-payment!! Payment updated and service CANCELLED!!! read more

So I have been receiving service from Barrier for about a year now, I have seen a grand total of 1 spider in my house in the last 6 months. My home is over 100 years old so when I move in there were a lot of bugs, Barrier did the initial treatment and I saw an increase in bugs right away but then they came back out about a month later and treated again, all the bugs I was seeing were either dead or dying. It took about 3 treatments before I completely stopped seeing bugs and they did advise me that this would be the case due to the eggs hatching cycles. I called a few times in between appointments during the summer for wasp nest which they promptly removed at no extra charge. The technicians have been wonderfull and I always reach a live person when I call the office. Pricing is competitive and one of the lowest I have found, especially considering that they will come back out and redo the house for free when needed. read more

Buyer be ware. Their service agreement only protects them not you as the consumer at all. If their product/process doesn't work for you, you are on the hook for the contract- there is NOTHING to protect the consumer. Also note, unless you want to LEAVE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT on file with them you are charged 3% to be able to pay them the equivalent of $400 an hour ($109 for MAYBE 15 minutes of their time). Shame on you, Barrier- that is called overhead. When I called to pay one bill, I told the billing gal I was done with them, and she said "OK!" The had lots of bugs and set up a NEW COMPANY bc I wasn't going to be an @$$ hole and have an "in between" spray when I had decided to cancel- so when I got an auto-call for my "routine spray" I called them to remind them I had told her I was done. ONLY AT THAT POINT she decided to tell me I HAVE TO have a final service bc of the agreement. This is total bull$h!t and VERY sketchy business practiced. If she knew I had a final service she ABSOLUTELY should have said that when I told her I was done using them. So so slimly. Such bad service. Hope you are proud of how you take advantage of your "customers." Now when people ask for a recommendation, I immediately say stay FARRRRR away from Barrier. EDIT TO READ: The service agreement ONLY says 3% charge for CREDIT CARDS. And NOT PLACE does it say there is a charge for debit cards. That shows me Barrier is in fact in violation of their own agreement. read more

Very happy with the service. We had a duck sitting on eggs near our porch last year and they were great to reschedule and give her time to hatch the babies undisturbed. Hardly ever see a spider or bug anymore. Happy customer! read more

My family and I used Barrier for a few months however we still constantly had spider issues. We decided to cancel and was charged 99.00 dollars to cancel the service. I contacted them regarding my gopher issues. The cost to me was $499.00. They did trap many gophers in the beginning but three months later I still have gophers. Their service for the first month was very good but things went downhill from there. Theirs Techs kept changing, they weren't sure where the last tech had placed traps, didn't have enough traps with them, weren't showing up when they told me they would and left holes everywhere that they had placed traps. I've hired another company that is charging me half the price that they did. read more

Had this company come out and spray for bugs. Was not happy with the results. Then ended up getting laid off from work. Called and respectfully asked to cancel my services and offered to pay the difference from the original offer. Was turned into collections. One of the owners mike said he could help me and offered to split the difference in the 170$ cancellation fee. Then decided it was too much trouble to call the collection agent and cancel. Basically I could help you but I won't. Think twice about using this company. read more

I would not recommend them. We had them come after a call that my hard of hearing husband took and was under the impression they had been here before and were the ones family had set up for us. they sprayed and husband signed the service agreement which you could not read the small print at bottom. Paid for the supposedly reduced rate. Found out this was not the company we had come in the past. Then they called and said we were due for another spraying cost $89 and we asked that just to cancel as we were using another service. They said we owed $150..supposedly discount for not fulfilling the agreement. for canceling as we had signed the contract. I asked for copy and was emailed and still could not read the wording. I said I thought there was miscommunication and were were seniors and thought the charge was unreasonable as they were not out of anything. After several calls and another billing, we paid the $150.00 as we pay our bills . Very unreasonable and not a fair business dealing. read more

If I could give them a zero star, I would. I'm a fair person and will always give any company an honest evaluation and the benefit of the doubt, especially during Covid. We just moved to Nampa so I decided to try Barrier because they were close. When I called they offered me a starter trial and said I could cancel within the first 3 visits for any reason if I was not satisfied. That sounded fair, so I said ok, lets try this. When the exterminator arrived he told me that my contract was locked in for 1 year and he knew nothing about a trial period. He said my 1 year contract could not be cancelled because I agreed to it when I signed up. Even though I told him to immidiately cancel the service because that was not what I was told, he said I was locked in and would be billed regardless if I cancelled or not! He said I was locked in and responsible for 1 year even if he didn't do any work! I told him to leave, cancel the service, and that I would take up the matter with my credit card company! The next day I called Edge Pest Control and set up service with them instead. So far I have not been billed by Barrier, but will keep an eye on my statements just un case. Beware, dont trust Barrier, and go with anybody else but them. I believe they do their own positive reviews. read more

My mom got covid so I asked them to come back another day, they billed me and I never saw them come back. Not good.

Super upset about this! I used to love this place. When they first started they were great super flexible and even let me pay monthly. I quit the service for a couple yrs (maybe longer) In late Oct of 2017 i decided i needed to get ready for winter and mice season. I was set to go and got my first quarterly pest control and then i had issues with my card changing due to a chip reader replacement. I am a super busy guy with other things to worry about my pest control bill (my bad). Long story short I ended up being 120 days past due. Emails went to spam. phone calls came in as spam....As soon as I got into town and got all of my other things lined up i called them to get this resolved. I thought I was going to pay the past due or the balance in full and just resume my service. Next thing I know Trina advised me i was sent into collections and received the "early cancellation fee" i was super pissed. Wont ever do business with these guys again. Check out Weed-man if your looking for pest control or any other lawn care maintenance. read more

These people charge for services they don't perform. The last tech that came to our home to deliver "service," was there for 7 minutes. He did not know I was home as I was in the phone. After he finished, I asked him about the services he performed. He printed out the list of items that were supposed to be delivered. He only sprayed the perimeter but nothing else. I called the company and they didn't budge off the bill. Needless to say my business has been placed with another company. read more

We have used Barrier Pest Control for the past two years and have been so happy with the service. Yes, we have had to call them back numerous times in the beginning, but because it is a new house in a farm area and on the river, some of the buggers put up quite a fight after being evicted! However, the past two visits I have not had to call back. I think that it has taken some time to get the pests under control but I believe that Barrier has won the battle. Every person who has serviced our home has been incredibly kind. The company is amazing too. I was not home when they came for the quarterly spray, so the inside did not get done. I emailed them and they had someone come out the following day to spray the inside. I do wish they had service on the weekends when people are not at work and able to be home for the service. I am terribly disappointed with this company and the way they choose to do business. My husband and I bought their service when we lived in Nampa and were happy with the service they provided at the time. I received a promotion and due to that we relocated to Texas. I called the company to make them aware of this change and they said they could cancel our routine appointment with no issues. A week or so later I receive a letter in the mail that states we owe $50. I give them a call and they proceed to tell me that is because I decided to cancel there services and that I signed a contract. They said they would not charge me that if I moved my services to my new location, however turns out they cant do that in Texas. I was appreciative of there services and liked them but are they doing so poorly that they have to $50. I am not worried about the amount as much as the fact that I didn't just want to cancel but rather moved out of the state so I could not continue their services. Even companies such as Sprint that everyone dislikes will discontinue service at no charge if their services cannot be provided anymore. Come on guys really. read more
