In Sayulita for a sun and surf holiday and on a mission to find the best fish tacos. Barracuda was our next stop. It is a small establishment just off the main square with four outside tables and the same number inside. We got an outside table which was great as there was a nice breeze. The grilled fish taco was quite good in terms of presentation and flavour. The service was also quite good...our server was pleasant and attentive. For me, this was a close second to Mary's for fish tacos. If you go, just need to know they are only open for lunch. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Barracuda's. read more

Freshest, least "fishy" ahi tuna I've ever had! I mean look at this pic. This is the "sashimi" starter (but it's got quite a bit of meat on it, as you can see!). They have other tuna preparations too like a sesame-crusted main course version which I'll have to try next. Amazing location on the most main town centre walk street. One of the "nicer/fancier?" restaurants in Sayulita but not expensive, everything is still about 1/2 the price you'd expect to pay in the US (but tastes better). While in Sayulita, Barracuda will provide elegant food amongst the laid back, beach snack atmosphere. Offering local seafood, as well as farm raised meats, it is a definitive must try location in this small beach town. The Mahi Mahi was excellent, and the shrimp completely compliments the seaside getaway. The staff are extremely friendly, and able to cater to your requests. We will be returning soon. read more

Not a great experience for us. First, the view is beach front (we hear they usually have tables on the beach but with covid, no). The view is the only good thing and those are plentiful here. There were way too many kids playing with toys around all the tables and I almost tripped going to the bathroom. Also, too many dogs running by tables and getting in the tables (gross). Not a good start. We had the tuna poke and it was clearly not fresh. It was dark and slimy and had no flavor except too much soy sauce. We had ordered that as a starter, to be followed by grilled fish tacos and 'surf & turf' tacos. Ok, so the dropped all the food at once and the tacos were not much better. Cold, bland and not even much to them. Props for the chips and salsa. Service, meh, we felt like we were lucky to be there. Not worth the bumpy ride out for this when there is literally an abundance of amazing food (without charging US prices) to be had. read more

It was THE BEST food we had our whole trip. Our only regret was we didn't eat here sooner. Every bite was incredibly flavorful and fresh. The three sauces you see in the photo are delicious, and each dramatically changes the flavor of each bite. Service was impeccable. read more

The oysters were almost hot- warm to where I had trouble stomaching it. After eating only ONE , I pushed them to the side and was planning on bringing it up later. Then my salad arrived- I'm not sure who could mess up a salad and I'm not a picky eater at all, but it was very bitter and the pieces of lettuce were actually dirty- also, the dressing was just oil and had no fruit, so I was basically missing half the salad. I called the waitress over and asked for the check, I just wanted to leave because I DID NOT want more of their food and was hungry at this point. I pointed out that I really hadn't touched any of it, but never asked for a free meal or anything - a small discount might have been nice since I didn't eat any of it. But instead, I had to wait there for 15 min while they basically gaslit me and said I must pay full- which I didn't really have a problem with but for some reason they're feelings got super hurt. ANYWAY- I ended up paying about $75 USD for no dinner and food poisoning. read more

My spidey senses that the restaurant might be a tourist trap was indeed validated. Nothing was bad but everything was unremarkable, bland, and overpriced. We ordered a couple of cocktails which were significantly watered down. Main dishes were the octopus tostada, fish chicharones, and the barracuda catch of the day. Tostada was fine but incredibly bland (desperately needed more acid and spice). Asking for salsas made the dish edible. The fish chicharones were nicely fried but again, no flavor and the accompanying tortillas were disappointing. The main fish dish was the low light -- couldn't finish it. Our friends and I really enjoyed this place! It was one of the nicer dinners we decided to tryout while in town exploring. We were sat right away. The service was quick and super friendly. When there was a language barrier, someone was always there to help. The drinks were delicious too! I really enjoyed the strawberry water. Very good Tacos were fresh and tasty. We had fish tacos. I had ordered a shrimp one but got two fish. They were good so I didn't point it out. We also had the marlin burrito. Yum. Wonderful Smokey flavor. We ordered the 3 shrimp ceviche. It was good except the 3rd shrimp was in the shell an inedible. We just ate around it. The mojito special was refreshing. The people watching was great. We did not like receiving a check with just the final amount and not itemized at all.... Our older gentleman waiter was great. I love this restaurant. It is great for people watching and it right in the center of Sayulita. However, it gets 5 stars because of the food. Probably my favorite restaurant in Sayulita. The food was good but overpriced relative to similar restaurants in the area. The service was bad (although the staff was kind) and the kitchen wait was terrible. The waiters were attentive but they forgot to bring our drinks and silverware even though I asked for them. There are no paper menus and instead QR code's for your phone but they don't offer WiFi. We ate here our last night in Sayulita. Barracuda is located on a cute little happening street. We sat inside by the bar where we could watch the street performers and still be able to talk to one another. There was a fire show and a couple guys playing music and singing while we were there. The food was excellent! We had 8 people in our group. We ordered the avocado bruchetta and the fried calamari for appetizers. Then we ordered the tropical ceviche, the fried Barracuda tacos with marlin, grilled shrimp tacos, grilled fish tacos, grilled shrimp with rissoto, chicken fettucine, and a cheese quesadilla. Everything was outstanding, so flavorful. Our kids thought the fettucine was so so. The lime margaritas on the rocks were good. Really great spot, was recommended by a local and glad we tried it! The tuna taco is the best! Also loved ceviche and fish tacos. Best seafood meal in Sayulita. Loved our service, nice local beer to try, and to top it off great prices ;) Bring your little hand fan, it's on the warm side in summer. They have a bigger location in San Francisco (San Pancho as locals speak it), which I also suggest visiting. A much smaller, chill vibe in that town. read more

We came to Punta Mita at the end of October heard about Barracuda restaurant .very off the beaten path but worth the drive. The appetizers could be a whole meal The garlic shrimp is to die for And the cheese chicharrones with shrimp.. We split the fish of the day which was mahi mahi. Had the flan for dessert and it was almost like cream Brulé. Great vibes good food worth the effort to get to. Plus good prices read more
