Food was super yummy! Service: 10/10 they were all incredibly kind and knowledgeable! Ambiance: colorful and casual. We got the: coconut shrimp - big portion! Try it with the delicious passion fruit sauce they make in house! It's sweet with a little kick! Tuna tostada - very flavorful and tons of tuna! Marlin empanada - bigger than expected, reminded me of pizza, lol. Use the jalepeno chipotle sauce on it that they give you. Guava Agua fresca - not too sweet and not too watery- just right :) Glad we came in and we got all of that for about $18usd! Do not miss the passion fruit aguachile. It was the best thing I ate in sayulita. Perfectly balanced sweet, tart, savory, and spicy - I'm already thinking about how I can recreate that at home. So so so good. We had a good mix of tacos and the one that stands out the most was the octopus taco (vs shrimp and fish). I like that there are salsas you can top yourself and of course, I went for the passion fruit/blueberry sauce. Service is lovely and the food comes out fast. You can't go wrong by dining here! My hubby found this place and talked me into the walk from the other end of Sayulita. I'm so glad we did. Totally worth it! Delicious food, friendly servers, and great value. I got seafood tostado (shrimp, octopus and scallop mix) - one of best seafood tostados I've had, and I've tasted quite a few in the last week. For entree, I got the coconut shrimp plate. Not your average Americanized coconut shrimp for sure. Big shrimp, coconut breading was fantastic and pineapple sauce a great accompaniment. My hubby got tuna tostado and mole fillet (mahi mahi) and he was very pleased, which is no small task since he us a very good cook. Great value, worth the walk! read more

Man what an experience. The Sayulita shrimp is nothing like I've ever tasted before. The fried fish was amazing too. Family from Guadalajara came to visit and they loved the mango aguachile and pulpo. Service from the person who seemed like the owner or manager was great too. Very attentive. Unique and especially tasty Mexican seafood restaurant in the north end of Sayulita. I started with a traditional shrimp ceviche tostada. Beautifully plated. I liked that some of the shrimp were whole in order to see how large they actually were. The tortilla- the tostada itself extra good. It's worth mentioning. It was that good. Very light and yet firm enough to hold all that ceviche goodness. They must have made the tostada shells themselves in house. Our waitress recommended the cilantro and crema salsa- so good and the chipotle salsa which was not too spicy and yet had a perfect sweet flavor to it. Main course was a grilled fish taco. Generous delicious serving of fish. Crispy lettuce and thinly sliced cucumber topped off with a very refreshing passion fruit salsa. My wife ordered the "Silly Octopus". An octopus ceviche. Very good. If you've never tasted octopus you are in for a very delicious treat. Have some. You will thank me later. Guaranteed. Good location. Good service. We had a really good lunch at this establishment. The venue is small but vibrantly decorated. We ordered shrimp ceviche, battered fish tacos and coconut shrimp. Wow!!! Big portions, food tasted really good. On top of it all, the tab was way less than what we had expected. All the food was cooked to order, from scratch. They have a team of cooks for a 7 table dinning section. Food was way better than the over priced, over hyped 'fresh' food in town. High quality meal for an amazingly low price. I had the best coconut shrimp here! I was amazed. The place is small, but they were very accommodating for a group of 6 people. The biggest downside was that they didn't serve alcohol. However, their Pinada drink tasted like a pina Coloda and it was delicious! They also allow you to bring in your own alcohol. We were brought to this cool neighborhood spot by a local guide, his mama walked by and said hello while we were eating and there were families and friendly locals abound. It had the most delicious fish and shrimp tacos, homemade sauces and fresh squeezed juices, chunky fresh-made quac... we waited a little bit for our food and we'd do it again every day if we could. Singularly worst restaurant experience I've had in Sayulita. Service was inattentive and unpleasant, and the food was boring and uninspired. Even the presentation was thoughtless. We started with ceviche, and then had coconut shrimp, Sayulita shrimp, and pineapple fish filet. The ceviche was minced fish, which was strange both in preparation and taste. And all three main dishes were overly sweet and absent of any spice or apparent effort towards culinary skill. And our server - who perhaps was the owner - made all three of us anxious to leave. We based our decision to eat here upon quite a number of glowing reviews. And we can only encourage any who may be interested to reconsider and go elsewhere. This place is full of heart, soul and delicious food. So fresh, so simple and yet something so special about it and the people. You can taste the love in their meals. While the restaurant is humble (it feels like you're eating at Grandma's house), it's one of the very best restaurants in town! I saw good reviews for el Jakal on tripadvisor and it looked cute each time I walked by it on my way into town. So, we checked it out for lunch one day. The menu has a nice assortment of small items tacos, ceviches, and tostadas as well as bigger plates with full meals (coconut shrimp, shrimp burger, stuffed pineapple). There are some vegetarian options (ceviche cauliflower??) but otherwise, it's pretty heavy on seafood. We ordered the coconut shrimp and a fish ceviche to share. Coconut shrimp were nice and big and came with a pineapple dipping sauce- the fries, rice and salad that accompanied it were just so so. The ceviche was unlike anything id had before- shredded carrots made up 70% of it and flaked fish was in there too. Not the ceviche I was expecting and tasted more like carrots than fish. Not a bad lunch, and perhaps the tacos would be a better choice, but with what we ordered I don't think we would be back read more

You could easily overlook this place on the right side of the street as you are headed north out of town, or you could easily pass it because there aren't that many people eating there. However, there are a couple of things to mention that you should check out. Their Crazy Avocado is such a winner. You could do that and it would be a meal in itself. Very filling, fresh and delish! We went a little further and took some of the advice of the other reviewers and ordered the coconut shrimp and the tequila shrimp. On both of these dishes the shrimp were really tasty. The coconut sauce on the coconut shrimp was superb. I really loved the spice on the tequila shrimp. Spicy to perfection. My complaint is that the side items they are choosing to use on the meal dishes are totally blah. I think if they worked on those items it would really raise the bar on what these dishes could ultimately be. read more

My husband and I ate here the first night we were in Sayulita after an absence of 20years. This place was recommended by the owner of our rental casita as it was close and we were tired and hungry after a long day of travel. We first ordered appetizers of ceviche tostadas and waited over 20 minutes for shredded cabbage, carrots, diced cucumbers with no discernible fish flavor . It was very dry--like sawdust. I ordered coconut shrimp which were smashed overcooked shrimp rolled in coconut. My husband ordered shrimp in a tomato garlic sauce which was passable. The sides were iceberg lettuce without dressing. French fries were frozen commercial french fries of mediocre quality. Rice was white with bits of carrots. We were disappointed, especially as this was not an inexpensive meal. read more
