Tropical House was the midpoint between our vacation stay and town so we stopped by a few different times. I've had both fish and shrimp tacos here which are delicious, the protein is well seasoned, the cabbage gives a perfect crunch, and the Baja sauce is incredible! They're off menu but ask and they'll do them for you. Members of our group have also had pesto pasta (raved about), chicken tacos (good and same seasoning blend as seafood), and quesadillas(meh) The drinks here are good too. We were able to talk to the owner who is from the US and makes his own tequila and orange liqueur. We got some bottles and made margaritas that are way too good for having that much alcohol in them! We noticed he sells to other establishments in town like Don Pato The patio at Tropical House is beautiful and they bring out large fans to keep the air moving and cool things down a little. Service is definitely on the slow side but worth it, especially for those fish and shrimp tacos, and everyone is friendly. Note that they do serve breakfast until pretty late but if you ask for a lunch menu they're happy to get something going for you. Great spot for a lunch or group dinner! read more

This adorable funky spot is definitely a must-try in Sayulita. The service is great, the basil mojitos are addictive, and the live music creates such a nice vibe. They do breakfast, but I think dinner here while listening to music is the best way to experience it. If you're looking for local food beyond just tacos, this is a spot for you. Amazing food, amazing people, and amazing tequila. I was here for a beer with a friend and ended up tasting the best tequila I've had in a long time, which is the Don Michel Añejo. With that tequila, Monserrat the awesome bartender made us awesome traditional margaritas made with fresh squeezed juice. I had to go back, took all my friends there and we had dinner. I tried the mahi mahi sarandeado, which was great, but my friend tried the tuna and it was amazing and I was a little jealous. After a long drive from Tequila had a great dinner at this joint. Ate the Mahi-Mahi Vallarta. Best I've had. The appetizer were delicious shred between my wife and mother in law. The ceviche, then coconut shrimp and a couple of quesadillas de shrimp y de polling. My wife had two margaritas, she said they were the best she's had. That's a rarity for her . This is my favorite bar in Sayulita. The food is about on par with what you would expect. The wait staff are really great. The drinks are 5 of 5 and the liquor selection is very well thought out. It's a little off the main drag so it get less weekend tourists and more longer term residents. It's a great place to stop in for just a drink or a meal. The atmosphere is very relaxed. read more

This restaurant is located in the north side of town. I really wanted to like this place, the outdoor seating was great and interesting local art on the walls. We grabbed a late breakfast, I ordered the tropical plate which consisted of fruit: banana, passion fruit, and pineapple and one slice of cheese cut in 4 slim sticks. Yogurt and granola ( not homemade) with toast and packaged jam ( from the Heinz company ). We also ordered a chicken quesadilla that came greasy and with large chunks of chicken, tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, and onions. Also chips and salsa accompanied that. We were disappointed in the chips as they were not homemade either , but came from a packaged bag. The only 5 star given would be on the service, Nice owners but disappointing food. We stayed down the street from Tropical House and once we discovered it for to-go breakfast we returned a few times on our trip! Convenient and delicious! They have fresh smoothies and delicious breakfast/lunch. Their staff is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed dining in the garden area one morning sipping mimosas, coffee, and enjoying a traditional "American" breakfast and the best chicken/veggie quesadilla. This is where we went for our first night arriving in Sayulita. We've never been to this town before and knew nothing about it. The tropical house was the closest place to our accomodations and with the kids tired we did not want to take our chance and walk around. Well, we were all so happy we stopped! We have been in Sayulita for almost 2 weeks and had dinner here on their first night open for dinner beginning in high season. It was one of the best meals we've had. My wife who is vegan (I'm not) said it was "the best" as they customized a meal for her. Great fresh ingredients and specials sauces in all their dishes is their claim to fame. Server Hortensia was charming and she is very accommodating. A good pick for all meals on the north side which is much quieter and to us more romantic than downtown. Relaxed, unassuming, casual restaurant. The menu leads you to think that the food will be equally nondescript, but wow the food was outstanding. The shrimp ceviche had ingredients we weren't expecting but which all worked perfectly together. If you get anything with a cream sauce (like the shrimp with the chipotle cream sauce), choose the pasta side - you're going to want to have that sauce over and absorbed by as many items as possible. Has a full bar with specialty cocktails. For breakfast, the smoothies are a must. (Yes, we came back multiple times - even with all the great food in Sayulita, this place had us coming back). The restaurant attracts a mix of locals and tourists. The staff is courteous and friendly. They'll glance over to check on you, but they absolutely will not rush you. I think "chill" best describes the ambience. They don't accept CCs, but they do accept US dollars. read more
