I visit the Doral area every few months to connect with friends that live down south and generally we tend to visit the same restaurants over and over. This time we decided to go ahead and try the HH at Barra Vieja. The drinks were strong and very good! We truly enjoyed those and even ordered a few bites to try. The waitstaff was attentive and made sure to frequently check in with us. Parking is available at the garage next door, but is only validated for a few hours then you pay $5.
Gorgeous place ! Highlight of a rainy day . Perfect Happy Hour menu . Being from Ca , kinda picky about Mexican food . Was pleasantly surprised, Ceviche tostada ... amazing ! And their chips and guacamole were fresh & delish . Bartender & manager were a delight .
I tried Barra Vieja in Downtown Doral. The tacos were actually really good. Definitely not authentic Mexican, but for what it is, I enjoyed them. Flavorful, good presentation, and a solid choice if you're just going in the mood for tacos and drinks. Now, I normally don't order steak at places that aren't steakhouses, but the menu got me and I tried the picanha with rice, beans, and fries. The flavor was good, but it didn't have that signature picanha texture. It also wasn't as warm as it should have been, which took away from it a bit. About half of the cut was fat too, which made it feel less balanced. The guacamole needed a little more seasoning. It wasn't bad, just missing that extra punch. Overall, I still enjoyed the experience. I just think this is more of a tacos and cocktails spot than a place to order steak. Now on the upside, it's hands down the best happy hour experience / pricing in the downtown doral area! And the waitress was really helpful and friendly too. I will be back again, for some tacos and cocktails!
Came with the fam to have a dual-birthday dinner for my cousin and my sister, and this did not disappoint! Was the first time for all of us and I really like when everyone at table is experiencing it for the first time together, definitely adds to the overall vibe/occasion. As we were walking up, they had nicely decorated patio tables, which we learned inside is where Happy Hour is available "all-day", which is music to anyone's ears! It was a Monday so there was plenty of room (we had a reservation either way), and noticed right away that the place didn't feel stuffy (high ceilings) and the decor was very nice. I chose a real nice booth to sit in which had me facing the huge blue bar wall. Aesthetically pleasing and didn't look cheap, which is a plus. My sister and I arrived first, so we went ahead with cocktails while we waited for our cousins to park and walk over. My sister went for traditional margarita but made it Mango, and it was great. I ordered the Mezcalita de Naranja and its was the bomb - I had 3. Would absolutely get again. Once the cousins arrived they went for a red sangria which looked dark and not exactly traditional, and another Mezcalita after tasting it. Thumbs up on the drinks, very well made. The food was very well portioned and everything was delicious. Aside from the entrees pictured we also did an order of steak quesadillas, toro taquitos (raw tuna), and some tequeños. Hard to say if one was really the standout but I chose to toro taquitos and the tuna was fresh, wasn't overly spicy and hit nicely with my drink. Quesadillas were dope too, steak was medium-well. My main was the Molcajete and if you go hungry, will definitely hit the spot right. Great service all around, our server Mildanny made several good recommendations for us, including the dessert which was a hit. Cost for 4 people was pretty reasonable and that's that it was pretty much two drinks per person. Will definitely be back to take advantage of HH!
This Mexican restaurant is beautiful and has a gorgeous, massive bar. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Outdoor seating is usually where I sit. I've been here for lunch, dinner, and happy hour. Personally, you get more out of this place during happy hour. The margaritas are really strong, and usually one is enough to leave you feeling bubbly. The guacamole and chips is a solid appetizer choice. I also love their pineapple drink from the happy hour menu. If you don't come during happy hour, this place definitely leaves a hole in your pocket. It is pricey. I don't agree with the regular prices, so now I only go for happy hour.
Barra Vieja is located on a busy corner in Doral and very close to a parking garage which makes it a convenient visit. I really enjoyed the service - from how they greet you to how they serve you. I loved the guacamole, it was fresh, very large portion and I could have been full just eating that. I didn't love molcajete. It was good but not great - too dry, too salty and not very Mexican. I'd try their tacos next time!
Awesome apps at happy hour, good food, good drinks, Branzino was mazing, Rey amazing attention and service
Barra Vieja is our new spot. Not only is it gorgeous and upscale inside, the food is absolutely top notch. It's pure quality. Service was five stars. Get there for happy hour or taco Tuesday because these deals are unbeatable... Delicious margaritas! Our birria tacos were to die for and loaded with meat. Everything was fresh and exceptional. we can't wait to go back!
Came for dinner, ordered take out. Super easy to order online. Food was ready as promised. Helpful staff. Inside was nice, will come back to dine in. Ordered the birria ramen, it was packaged well. Food was tasty. Look forward to trying other items.
Really big and beautiful restaurant in Doral Midtown. We decided to eat outside because they had live music and it was really loud inside the dining room area. If you are celebrating a birthday or having a special celebration, the live music is nice, but if you are looking for dinner and conversation is not ideal. We had some delicious margaritas from the happy hour menu. They tasted really good, it was a sort of orange margarita, but by the end of the night I had a headache and I only get headaches from drinks when is not good quality spirits. I'm guessing for the happy hour drinks they don't use top shelf liquor. We ordered the regular guacamole as appetizer. I love Guac and this one was very delicious. It was almost a whip consistency but had little chunks of tomato and onions, really good and fresh. As our main dish we ordered a Mexican inspired fried rice and a sort of fajita dish where they bring you the protein inside a volcanic dish (posted picture) inside said bowl there was chicken, steak, two big shrimp, fried cheese, guac and pickle onion. Both were tasty but both felt over the top. A lot of seasonings, a lot of different ingredients. I can't say I loved or hated. Just felt like not a good balance. Too much going on, to truly enjoy the flavors and texture of the meal. Another thing was that the chairs outside where we were seated, were wet from the rain and my jeans got wet stains from sitting on them. The service was fast, and very friendly. And the portions are really big,so we shared between two of us and had left overs that we left behind by mistake, but I doubt we would have want to eat the food the next day. Our meal was about $130, they included 18% already to the bill. Not too impressed with this restaurant I must admit.
Great New Mexican spot in Doral, I had been seeing this location pop up on Yelp and finally was able to drop by for lunch. The decor is very inviting and lively and they have a beautiful bar. The service is also very friendly and inviting. We opted to try their great Prix Fixe lunch menu with lots to choose from and generous portions. We ordered the guacamole and carnitas tacos as well as the Jicama salad and vegetarian enchiladas and the flavor on everything was authentic! And let's not forget the drinks, the margarita and Michelada were well made and refreshing! Looking forward to returning during their happy hour as well as visiting on a Sunday when they have Mariachis. If you are in Doral and want some Mexican food, good ambience and great service I suggest you stop in at Barra Vieja.
Went for drinks and a quick bite. Restaurant was pretty busy and seemed like Fridays they hire a DJ to play some tunes. Sat at the bar where we thought service would be quick because there were four bartenders and even then it was a little difficult to call them over. Ordered a guac appetizer which was pretty good and entree of tacos. Tacos ended up coming out before the guac. Calling the bartender over was almost impossible felt like a game of telephone. If i were to return i would try sitting at an actual table instead of the bar.
Yelp recommends a few things to consider when reviewing: Food - Service - Ambiance...Well, Barra Vieja has it all and much more! It's a beautiful location in a corner of Downtown Doral, you can't miss it! Stunning views from the entrance to the back (even the restrooms). Nicely lit for a romantic date or hand out with friends Cocktails: El Verano, Chef Margarita, and Sotokyo! Apps: The pork belly with caviar was so unique and so worth ordering! Trust me! And don't forget guacamole tradicional freshly made in house Entres: Highlight of the night was an enchilada with mole, which I had to order and hope to find again in the future on the menu! And Arroz a la Tumbada was fresh and flavorful and amazing too! Desserts: The Elote Tres Leches was just perfect and the Santa Teresa Espresso Martini was one of the best I've had!

WOW! I absolutely love this restaurant. From the food to the service to the decor, everything is just fabulous. Margarita is not only a A+++ sommelier but an A+++ server. I have been here many times and will be coming back for many more. They also have a great happy hour 3-7pm daily. Don't wait and come APPRECIATE!!! read more
In terms of taste, the food is pretty good. I got the Enchiladas Verdes and enjoyed them. The flavor was good, but albeit mostly carried by the cheese on top. The chicken on the inside was a little dry though. However, this is by far not an authentic Mexican restaurant like it was advertised. They serve things like pasta and ceviche alongside Americanized burrito bowls and fajitas. Additionally, they were playing live music and it was pretty loud inside the restaurant. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but there was hardly anyone in the restaurant at the time, and it just seems overall excessive. It was hard to even hear our waiter and get our orders placed. Overall, this is a fine place to eat, because I feel like my critiques are mostly a personal preference, I don't think a three star would be appropriate, which is why I left four stars despite my reservations. But I feel like there are some better options near by and wouldn't think of coming back to this restaurant if I was particularly craving Mexican food. read more

The food is low quality I ordered the bowl with pastor chicken and the chicken pieces were mostly chicken fat. At first I thought it was pineapple but then I realized it's to chewy to be pineapple. And then I realized it was all just cubes of chicken fat. I got disgusted and threw it away. For a restaurant I expect more. read more

A friend and I stopped by Barra Vieja last Saturday for a quick happy hour while in downtown Doral. The staff was very accommodating in allowing me to bring inside my puppy as long as he did get on the furniture which was totally understandable. My friend and I both tried the La Piña cocktail from the happy hour menu and the guac both were delicious and very reasonably priced! This restaurant is relatively new so I was very happy to finally give it a try. The inside is gorgeous! The staff was very nice! I will definitely be coming back to try some more items on their menu and a refreshing margarita! read more

I've been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened. We went on a Thursday, it was pretty empty at 6:30. All the tables have postcards announcing Thursday Ladies Night from 6-10. Our server took a bit to come to our table so it was 6:50 by the time she took our order. She let us know that ladies night deals, happy hour, stopped at 7 then started again at 8, not what the postcards said. Finally after a few times asking her she said the manager allowed her to give happy hour prices after 7. Not sure why it was so confusing. The menu is not too big and neither are the portions. I had a vegetarian open quesadilla that was $20 and it was VERY small. We also had the molcajete, it was good but, because it's so hot, the food dried up very fast. The best was the crispy rice with lobster and salmon, also pretty pricey at $28 for 4 small pieces, but tasty. Margaritas were half price, they were pretty good. It's a nice restaurant, they still need some tweaking to get to the point where they can compete with their neighbors. read more

This place had FANTASTIC food. I visited Barra Vieja on a Saturday night with my family for a birthday celebration and it was the best choice. Starting off with the service, we had a server named Leonardo (I think he was also the bartender) and he was fantastic! Super friendly and attentive. Then we also spoke to the manager Jesus and he was very friendly as well. The vibes were great, they had music and a lively bar scene. The food was SOOOOO GOOD! Everything we ordered, the appetizers and main dishes (order the tacos! And Guac) were out of control. My entire family said the same thing, which never happens, someone always complains about something and this time they all left raving about this place. We are already planning to come back for happy hour. I'm shocked this place wasn't busier because it checks all the boxes. Great vibes, food, drinks and service! I recommend this place 100%. read more

The food was pretty good--classic Mexican dishes. Nothing extraordinary, but solid overall. The drinks, however, were really good. The service was just okay; although our server was friendly, she made several mistakes with our order and kept bringing drinks we hadn't ordered. The ambiance was very nice, and the live music made the evening much more enjoyable. read more

An Unforgettable Company Lunch Thanks to Jesus and Margarita! I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, especially if you are planning a large event! We hosted our company lunch here for 35 people and were working with an incredibly tight turnaround--just three days' notice. From the moment I called, Jesus, a member of the management or events staff, was an absolute savior. He didn't just accommodate us; he made the entire planning process seamless. He consistently provided updates to keep us strictly within our budget and offered amazing suggestions that helped us maximize our spend without compromising on quality or quantity. His professionalism and attention to detail were simply outstanding. Then there was Margarita, our primary server for the event. With 35 guests placing non-stop food and drink orders and the general "craziness" of a large group gathering, she never missed a step. Everything came out quickly and accurately. Her energy, efficiency, and cheerful demeanor ensured every single one of my colleagues felt taken care of. Beyond the phenomenal staff, the venue itself is beautiful, the food is incredibly tasty, and the margaritas are top-notch. We had an amazing time, and I am already planning my return trip with my wife for a quiet dinner so we can enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and food again. Five stars all around! read more
The BEST Mexican restaurant in Doral. The space is ample and bright, beautifully decorated with modern touches that will make you feel you're at one the most posh restaurants in Mexico. It's spotless clean and well organized throughout, including the restrooms. The food is innovative and absolutely delicious. The happy hour and specialty cocktails are perfectly balanced and super tasty. The staff is the best in the business; incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Apolinar, the bar mixologist, and Jorge, our server, are among the best hospitality staff we've ever met, and the manager, Christian, is absolutely amazing; he made us feel at home, and had the perfect selection options for food and drinks. They have live music that is truly lively. This place is simply amazing. I highly recommend it, and will be back every chance I get! read more

Fairly new spot across from Doral Yards. Nice decor spacious with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Christian Torres, the General Manager took his time to explain the menu and was very welcoming. Food and drinks were great. He recommended the Molcajete which was shareable and very tasty with steak, veggies and grilled cactus. A must try! read more

This new spot recently opened up in Downtown Doral. It is very lit up, big open space. From the moment O walked in, the host was very courteous and friendly. The place was not so full as it was lunch time but people started to slowly trickle in. The waiter was very attentive and when i asked for his recommendation, he honestly gave me his opinion and was very helpful. I ended up ordering the Birria Bowl which was pretty big size for a lunch portion. As I started eating, the GM came over and asked how everything was going and if i was satisfied with the meal. While I waited, I ordered chips and salsa which, you can't go wrong with. Definitely recommend trying g it out. read more

So this is what the server politely told us about the Restaurant, it specializes in seafood and coastal mexican cuisine; the decoration gives you a beachy vive and it is nice, breezy and spacious, although the name Barra vieja doesn't match the atmosphere, it does have a big bar at the entrance you notice right away. Our waiter was nice and attentive, the beer was cold, we ordered a Guacamole and Chips to start, it was good...but then the entrees... i ordered for my daughter the Chicken tacos, they came early and were not as pictured as the Kids Menu, it was only 2 plain tortillas with chicken on top and a piece of lemon...i was puzzled and went over the menu again to see if my thoughts my be wrong, yes..maybe the got confused and got the regular tacos...the kids tacos come with cream and queso on top. We has the Enchiladas Verdes, i have to say the food is good but fails to deliver so much more, they were only two tiny enchiladas and being a Miami foodie i am accustomed to having at least a little garnish on the side, a little rice and refried beans never hurtes anyone, even though it is only for presentation. This is not a cheap nor a very expensive restaurant, but at the time of comparing apples to apples, this place fails to satisfy the needs. Although food i feel this is a one time thing restaurant. read more
