I hear that everyone has weddings here and after looking it up online and learning that they are focused on being as environmentally friendly as possible -- think organic, recyclable, composting, and green, but wrapped in a very pretty package -- I was very interested to see what it was all about. Since I couldn't seem to score any wedding invitations, I jumped at the chance to attend a concert/fundraiser at the Barr Mansion, which is nestled in a little-thought-about northern corner of East Austin between Cameron Road and 290 off of Springdale. As you drive out to the Mansion, you suddenly feel as if you are in the country, even though you are only minutes from Central Austin. On the appointed evening, the somewhat hefty benefit ticket price ($35) kept the wine and cheese flowing, raised money for some local musicians, and gave me a chance to check out the goods. You don't have to take it from me, but I was impressed. The Artisan Ballroom boasts sky-high ceilings, rough timber framing, glass windows, and a waterfall. It sounds like an improbable architectural combination, but the space feels at once romantic and rugged. Outside the Artisan Ballroom there is a large area filled with plants and small, white rocks. On the evening that I attended the concert, the rocks had been raked into large zen-garden-like patterns comprised of swirls and other shapes. While I have not been in the mansion proper or organized an event with the Barr Mansion, If the rock patterns are any indication of their event planning skills, I'd wager to say that they have outstanding attention to detail. Now all I need is an excuse to plan an event at the Barr Mansion! read more

This is a beautiful venue for weddings. The house provides a great space for everyone to get ready - it's beautiful in that classically romantic kind of way and makes for lovely photographs. The lawn and garden, on those days that are nice enough, make for a lovely outdoor wedding. The grass is green, the flowers always kept in great shape, but not overdone, the paper lamps in the trees providing a bit of magic. The "glass barn" as a backup venue for not-so-nice days and reception venue for the nice ones is striking, creating an intimate environment as the sun sets. The food, all organic and prepared on site, is excellent and plentiful. With passed appetizers for cocktail hour, then a buffet for dinner, all the guests seemed satisfied, vegetarian or carnivore. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to most things, the exception being keeping non-organic foods in their fridge. The other downside to this venue is expense - while there are certainly are more expensive venues in Austin, this one has a way of charging quite a bit for lots of little things. read more

I read this morning that there's been a fire on the property, so I wanted to emphasize the great staff, and the beautiful tent they set up for us. Brides planning on getting married at Barr Mansion this summer: never fear. Barr staff will make the event gorgeous with or without the original building set-up you imagined. My mother and I had a great experience before the wedding with preparation. I can't remember a time an email wasn't answered in 24 hours or a phone call wasn't returned. Everyone was very accessible and accommodating. And when we were on site to make decisions, we never felt rushed. Rick was fantastic. Particularly memorable to me was his cheerful attitude, especially in the face of a hand injury he received a couple of weeks before our wedding. He helped me (and my charming, yet full-o-questions mother) with paring down all the questions to the few real decisions we had to make. He made it all easy. The cakes were beautiful. So gorgeously decorated - both - and tasty! I can't wait for our first anniversary to have a taste again. The Lemon wedding cake with citrus icing was a dream. Going "organic" does not sacrifice any flavor, presentation, or fun. "Great work" to the chefs. We are generally impressed by everything that comes out of Barr's chapel-kitchen. read more

Molly and the Barr Mansion team were so helpful in making our November 2020 wedding in the midst of COVID run smoothly. Molly didn't bat an eye when we approached her with our own social distancing/safety guidelines that we felt were necessary to pull off a wedding in a pandemic. She was quick at responding to our emails and helped us navigate all of the changes we had to make due to COVID without making us feel stressed. The staff the day of our wedding were so friendly and awesome. The venue is absolutely stunning (we did everything outside), our guests were raving about the food, and we're still dreaming about the cake. We got married in July 2015, and the Barr was fantastic. My wife and I live in the Bay Area and booked the Barr based on our moms' recommendations. We only got to visit twice before coming home for the wedding, and it worked out amazingly well. The fact that the Barr does pretty much everything we could need under one roof, made it easy to handle everything without a lot of trips or any headache when we were in Austin. Shanna was incredibly helpful for long-distance planning. We made sure to come back for one of the monthly tastings, and she helped us pick out a menu and customize a couple dishes. She had great input on how to smoothly do all the things we wanted as well as great ideas when we didn't have any of our own. She was invaluable. She, and the whole Barr staff, made the day-of run as smoothly as it could have. We had zero stress and a lot of fun. The food was delicious, the space was beautiful in person and in the pictures we got, and everyone there was super friendly. The Barr was a huge part of why we had such a wonderful day. We live out of state at the moment and we love Austin! I really wanted a place that was sort of all in one. Barr Mansion was just the place. We worked with Nicole as our day of coordinator, but really she was there every step of the way. She kept my stress low (as low as it can be when you're planning a wedding), and answered any questions I had no matter when I emailed her. The day of the weather broke the record for the COLDEST high-temp in Austin by 6 degrees! Nicole and her team pulled off a flawless plan b ceremony inside the reception ballroom, then flipped it for reception in less than 45 maybe even 30 minutes. The party was a BLAST!!! Food was great, service was great...and the bar was very busy...but no one waited for a drink! Everything was EXCELLENT! I would very much recommend Barr Mansion for anyone looking for an Austin venue...and Nicole as the day of planner! She's awesome!!! read more

We had the perfect wedding at Barr Mansion this January. Elyse was our coordinator and she did an outstanding job keeping us calm throughout the planning process. Location - perfect and versatile. We initially hoped for an outdoor wedding, and they offer 3+ areas on the grounds to hold the ceremony. Three days out from our wedding, it became clear that we would need to move the ceremony indoors due to weather (temps in the low '40s and we even had snow). The Barr staff pulled it off without a hitch, and converted the indoor space in about 15 minutes from ceremony to reception. Price - things can get expensive pretty quickly (but weddings are expensive events to plan in general). We saved a little by getting married "out of season" in January, and on a Friday. Food - the food was so amazing! Barr caters their weddings, so it saves you from having to deal with another vendor. They change the menu options seasonally, and it is fully customizable. You can choose from buffet, family style or seated dinner. I loved being able to choose everything and really make the wedding our own. Coordinator - Elyse was fantastic. She tells it like it is with no BS, which I really appreciated. I could trust her from the beginning - it is clear she has great experience and knowledge in her field. Barr also provides recommendations on vendors like florists, photogs, music, rentals, etc. I cannot thank Elyse and team enough for making our dream wedding come true. I just wanted to write this review because I'm an out of town bride and almost booked the Barr Mansion sight unseen because of all the glowing reviews. I really wanted a turn key venue and was convinced this was it. I emailed Barr Mansion and specifically requested to work with Abby. The reasons I gave were that she is also a florist and because she got such great reviews. My parents weren't convinced because it was, "just a barn" In order to convince them my fiance and I flew out to Austin from San Francisco and they drove in from Houston. I booked an appointment with Abby whom I had been exchanging emails with. I specifically told Abby that I REALLY LOVED the Barr Mansion but my parents needed to be convinced and feel confident in this turn-key venue. She said she would do everything she could. We only flew into Austin for one day. When we got to our appointment Abby was "out to lunch" (literally)and the girl who we were dealing with didn't know anything about me. When she asked me questions I felt I had already answered she said, "Well I haven't read your email in the last ten minutes so why don't you just go ahead and tell me again" I tried to get her to tell the story of the barn and where it was from and the roof and the sustainability factor-- I wanted my parents to hear all these things from them. I found it difficult to get her to talk about the venue. My dad finally just left and sat in the car. Abby never showed up. When I did get a hold of her I was almost in tears. She told me that I wasn't specific enough about whom I wanted to meet with. I wouldn't even know how to be more specific. I'm and out of state bride. Why wouldn't I want to meet with the wedding coordinator? It seemed to me that I expected too much in wanting to meet with someone who could give us any insight into anything such as a more specific flower budget or how much it might cost to rent a bus or just little questions you would want to ask the wedding coordinator. Abby said they don't usually go over these things when you arrange appointments to meet with them and see the venue. I wish I would have known that before I flew out from SF. I felt that I was really clear in what I wanted to accomplish with the visit and that I wanted to deal with Abby. I wouldn't know how to be more specific. I think what really frustrated me was that the girl we dealt with didn't seem to know anything beyond what was not included in the price, and how to price out the menu. Maybe, if she had been more informed, I might not have felt compelled to write this review. Anyway regardless of my disappointment in the staff, I don't think we would have picked this venue anyway. Just judging on the venue itself-- it is right off of the road. I expected it to be set back a little. And when you come upon it, it just doesn't impress the way the pictures do. The house is actually run down- maybe there's a story behind that but no one told it to us so it just looks run down. The barn while very nice is also very small. It doesn't look as GRAND in person as it does in the pictures. The chairs in the venue are slatted wood. They kind of lean back like deck chairs. They don't provide cushions or covers for the chairs and were quite uncomfortable. I guess, after seeing all the pictures and reading all the reviews I was just really underwhelmed. Maybe I just expected too much because all these other people seem to really like it. I don't know. I think the Winfield Inn which is 20 min. from Austin has the same feel but is more impressive because it's set back from the road and more secluded. It's also a lot less expensive and April, the wedding coordinator is the NICEST person in the entire world. read more

We had our wedding at the Barr Mansion in August. The venue location and indoor ceremony space is beautiful. Both the dinner and dessert catering were exquisite and nicely served in the family style we opted for. The bridal and groom suite were easily accesible from the ceremony space in order to help transition between ceremony and reception. The day-of coordination was helpful and eased stress off our day. The reason we give this review 4 stars instead of 5 is there was some delayed communication early on regarding coordination and the tasting. My wedding was held here ten years ago, before the artisan ballroom was built. I still get compliments on the food. People seriously remember things they ate that hot-as-hell July day. It's a costly place, but you get lots bundled together. A French dude helped us choose flowers, food, etc and the food was preddep on-site.There was a full staff to set up and clean up, set out the flowers, all the stuff you really don't want your mom taking care of. The mansion is tiny by today's standards but took fantastic pictues and had a lot of ambience. The gardens are beautifully maintained and elegant. read more

My wife and I just recently held our wedding ceremony at the beautiful Barr Mansion in July, 2008. We chose the location immediately after seeing pictures of the Artisan Ballroom on their website; it is an incredibly fantastic location! The thatched roof, old timbers and huge wall of windows all combine to make it a unique venue to hold any special event, escpeially a wedding reception. We worked with Abby to arrange the ceremony and reception activities, schedule and menu, and could not have been more pleased with how everything turned out! She was organized, friendly and a consummate professional in everything she did. My wife worked with her very closely to get the flowers and decorations squared away, and Abby really helped make what should have been a hectic time very stress-free. Once the day of the wedding arrived, things went as smoothly as anyone can ask for; everything was in place and Abby orchestrated things like a master conductor with an orchestra! My wife and I were able to enjoy our day without a care because our trust had been well rewarded. We had so many people comment that it was one of the best weddings they'd ever attended, and a few even started brainstorming about reasons to hold their own events at the Barr Mansion! My fiancé and I got married about a week and a half ago. From the moment we saw the venue, we knew this was the place. Furthermore, we began working with the Barr Mansion Wedding Coordinator Molly Mulally who could not have been more helpful. I am not one to write reviews, but I can not say enough about Molly and the rest of the BM staff. We all know that the Covid environment has been harsh to the wedding business. However, Molly handled everything perfectly. She answered every question we had, initiated conversations and asked us questions about things we would have never thought of, and orchestrated the most special day in the middle of the June Texas heat. There was literally nothing she could have done to make things go more smooth - everything from planning the day to the day itself. I HIGHLY recommend booking Barr Mansion for a wedding/event of any size. I guarantee Molly will blow you away with your overall experience, even more than you will be blown away by seeing the venue itself. Our experience at the Barr Mansion was amazing. Our wedding coordinator was Nicole, and I cannot say enough good things about her. She was very responsive to our emails and made us feel at ease throughout the process. Her work as coordinator was SO VALUABLE the day before and day of. She kept things running really smoothly and did all the behind the scenes work for us. Our officiant went overtime, but she managed to get our wedding back on track, figuring out any changes that needed to be made for the day to run smoothly. She is a very calming presence. The rest of the team at Barr Mansion is wonderful as well. My Dad remarked that the bartenders and staff were very pleasant and friendly. Being able to provide our own alcohol was a huge plus for us. The food...I can't rave about it enough. We did a buffet for 175 people and Nicole made sure that process went smoothly so there was never a long line. The food we choose was delicious day of...SO MUCH BETTER than your average wedding food. The pizza was exceptional. Some people told my Dad the wedding cake was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. Not only that, but the cake designer worked with my florist and did a stunning job with our cake. It was literally the most beautiful wedding cake I had ever seen---exactly what I had in mind. The grounds of Barr Mansion were beautiful for our outdoor ceremony. The ballroom was nice and cool in July and easily had space for our 175 guests (setting up additional outside bar worked well as well--there was never a long line at the bar). In terms of value, we picked a Friday, which gave us a discount. When you calculate all that Barr Mansion includes, I really do feel that it is a value in the Austin wedding market. If we had to deal with hiring a separate caterer, linen provider, wedding coordinator, cake baker, clean up crew, bartenders, etc, etc, our wedding would have been more expensive. We just got married here a couple of weeks ago. It was absolutley perfect. I would not change a single thing. I was planning the wedding remotely from Raleigh, NC and my wedding planner, Rick, was so easy to work with. It didn't require much work for me because they are able to do everything from food, table linens, glassware, flowers, decorations.. We were told by countless people at our wedding that it was the most beautiful wedding site they had ever seen. The natural beauty of the location make for a magical wedding and reception. We were there for the mother's milk event. Although the place was very nice sadly the entire night was ruined by a drunken man named Andrew who introduced himself as the "event manager". He proceeded to making inappropriate comments about my dates outfit and followed it up by asking many inappropriate questions while slurring and stumbling around. It was clear From the way he was so comfortable with his rude behavior that he must've been related to the owner in some manner. We got married at Barr Mansion in May 2015 and everything about this venue was perfect! The grounds are gorgeous, and you have full access to the main Victorian-style house, the glass-façade Ballroom, and the outdoor covered Farmstead. The grounds also include a rose garden, a big beautiful pecan tree, and gardens where they grow their own food. Guests ranted and raved about how spectacular the venue was and how they had never seen anything like it before! Upon signing our contract with Barr Mansion, we were invited to monthly cocktail events where we got to sample appetizers and drinks, view decorations from different vendors, listen to DJs and string groups perform, and ask questions of the coordinators and staff on site. Also included is a harvest tasting, where you get to sample all the food that will be available to choose from on your wedding day. The venue prepares all their food on-site and offers selections based on which season your wedding is in and which foods are in harvest at that time. The food was absolutely amazing and everyone loved what we picked out! The awesome thing about Barr Mansion is how much they do for you. All set-up and take-down is done by their staff, and they provide a full set of staff for the day of. They also provide a day-of coordinator, which was a huge selling point for us. Shanna was our coordinator and she was amazing! She knew exactly what to do and kept the ball rolling all day/night. She was very knowledgeable, personable, and easy to work with. She made the day-of seem like a breeze and we did not have to worry about anything! This place in UNBELIEVABLE and I would HIGHLY recommend it! read more

We had our wedding at Barr Mansion and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. We booked the place over a year in advance when the place was a shell and while that was a leap of faith, it certainly paid off. The house itself is rustic and quaint with a lot of character. The grounds are well kept with a lot of well placed touches to make the place feel very cozy. The ballroom, which we only knew as a blueprint when we booked was simply stunning on our wedding day. It's really well setup with guests on one side, the dance floor in the middle and food/alcohol/restrooms on another. The stage makes a great place to do the cake cutting (people seem to love to take pictures of that) and doing toasts. The venue is full service so they take care of a lot of the details for the ceremony and reception in house. You have to purchase your own alcohol which ends up being better in the end anyway. Rick, our coordinator, was an excellent resource to have before the wedding day and was on top of our timeline during the actual day. He's also not afraid to tell you what he thinks which we liked. A previous comment complained about the lack of follow-up by the staff when calling. I can see how that happens as Barr Mansion doesn't have an administrative staff to man the phones at all times. These guys have a lot of events and I believe a lot of the load falls on the coordinators. With that said, the longest we waited for a response was 2 days and the week leading up to our wedding, Rick was pretty much on top of every email/phone call. Barr Mansion should definitely be on your list for potential wedding venues. It's a little far out and the full service nature of the place doesn't lend itself to bargains but this place delivers. read more

I was married here on November 1. This venue is gorgeous. A historic mansion sits on the grounds, but the event itself is either outside or in a ballroom that is a cross between a greenhouse and an old European barn. My description is not doing it justice, you need to see it! At first, the Barr may *seem* a little more expensive than some locations that allow you to bring in your own vendors but for us, once we priced out everything and discussed how much time it would take us to coordinate everything, hands down this was the way to go. And it was wonderful. Abby is unbelievable! In addition to being the Barr's florist (you can use her, or your own vendor for flowers, there is no pressure either way), Abby is also one of the Barr's event coordinators and was our day-of wedding coordinator. She worked with our budget, she didn't try to bulk up the budget with unnecessary flowers and she recommended less expensive options when appropriate. She let us bring in our own soy candles to cut down on costs, and perhaps most importantly, she handled my freak outs very professionally (we won't all fit in the ballroom and need an outside plan! it might rain, we need a tent! we will all fit in the ballroom after all, reconfigure! we lost a bridesmaid, gained a male attendant, need an emergency extra boutonniere! and so on...). On the day itself, she kept the day going smoothly and I never worried about a thing. Abby was incredibly accessible, even responding on her day off. I never worried about communicating with the Barr Mansion. Things to know--they are an organic facility. Soy candles must be used in the ballroom so as not to damage the thatch roof (soy candles are more expensive, no blow out sales at Hobby Lobby for these), and there is no such thing as organic fondant, so your Ace of Cakes-worthy design will not work here, they can use buttercream and modeling chocolate. They have a seasonal tasting "party" with selections from their full menu, but you can not taste every single item. All of that was fine with us. The food really was amazing! The location is gorgeous, the food was delicious, the cakes (a bride and groom's cake are included in the cost) were beautiful and tasted great. My husband and I were just married here last weekend, and it was a pleasure to work with the folks at the Barr. Rick, the senior coordinator, is incredibly nice and very patient, and he is a planning genius. We had about 160 people attend and had a plated dinner and a live orchestra. The event ran so smoothly, and Rick, Keegan, Abbie, and their colleagues are very professional, making everything as stress-free as possible. These people seriously know their work! The food was terrific, dinner service was great, and Abbie, the in-house floral designer, created a beautiful look that was just what we wanted. The place looked magical. We hadn't heard of the Barr before we began actively looking for a wedding site last year, and I strongly recommend checking it out. It's a unique site (Victorian house, gorgeous grounds, Zen garden, and glass-walled barn!) and works well for those couples wanting to do a very traditional look or something more unusual. We got married at Barr Mansion two weeks ago and it was beautiful. We only looked at one other place and were in love the minute we saw Barr Mansion. The property is amazingly gorgeous and the location is fantastic - just northeast of downtown. The food was spectacular! 5+ stars for the food and catering service. I'm still getting compliments from guests on the food. The servers and bartenders were totally on top of everything without realizing they were there. Some comments mention price - I'm sure there are cheaper places, but when we looked at adding up all the separate vendors that need to be wrangled, going with Barr Mansion, which is more "full service", was a better decision for us. Plus - did I mention it's gorgeous and the food is amazing? My one deduction from a full 5 stars (I want to give 4 1/2) is that right before our wedding there were some staffing changes and a new event coordinator started. This lead to a few miscommunications and some day-of issues. In the end everything worked out beautifully and I was totally happy with the day but I did feel like we needed to oversee some of the setup a bit more than expected. read more

My husband and I booked Barr Mansions for our November 11, 2010 wedding. When the fire happened I was a little nervous about the back-up plan, but once I went to the food and cake tasting I saw how amazingly beautiful it was I knew that it was still going to be the wedding of my dreams. I was blown away at how well Barr Mansion handled the whole thing. They were absolutely wonderful in every aspect. Everyone and everything at Barr Mansion was fabulous and exceeded my expectations. Everyone was very friendly and more than willing to help out in any way they could. As a bride planning a Texas wedding from Florida it was nice to know that I could rely on anyone there the ease my stress. Rick was fantastic. He was easy to get a hold of, and if I had any questions or concerns he was right there ready with answers. On the day of the wedding he was very attentive and on schedule. He knew exactly what I wanted for my wedding and executed it perfectly. Nothing went wrong the day of and it was everything I had dreamed of. Working with Abby at STEMS was so pleasant! She knew exactly what I was looking for and with my lack of knowledge for floral created the most beautiful display of flowers. My bouquet was so gorgeous I wanted to keep it forever, and the girls bouquets were the perfect simple touch. As for the guys boutonnieres they were simple and elegant with the most beautiful flower. The centerpieces were better than I could have imagined, and all the extra touches of floral really made my wedding into everything I had dreamed of. My husband, family and I had a wonderful experience planning our wedding at Barr Mansion in May of 2015. Shanna was an excellent coordinator who is totally in control while also knowing how to 'roll with the punches' when things went wrong day-of (like when we forgot our marriage license, oops!). The venue is breathtaking, the food is great, and the service is wonderful. Shanna was running around making sure we had everything we needed at all times during the wedding. Had an absolutely gorgeous wedding here! Abbey did just gorgeous flowers, the food - amazing - the cake? Don't get me started. Rick was always available for me when I had any questions. Found almost all my vendors from the list they gave me. About as low-stress a wedding as you can get. I booked the date 2 months before my wedding, and everything was fantastic. I looked all over Austin to find just the right location, and this is the place to go in my opinion: it's beautiful, they know what they're doing, have coordinators full time on-site, you can have the ceremony and reception in one place, it's not too far from downtown, it's reasonable, it's byob (can't beat that), and they don't nickel and dime you like most other places. other places may seem cheaper, but get a sample contract - you'll find they sneak in charges for everything that you wouldn't expect.. read more

My husband and I were married here early November. Our priorities were to have our wedding be fun for our guests as well as visually pleasant and most of all, simple and low-stress. If these are your priorities as well as great food, go visit! Our coordinator asked us for opinions/decisions as they arose, but was never pushy. She seemed to understand that we wanted as little "fuss" as possible and made that happen without sacrificing quality of the ceremony/reception. They also handled disorganization well: I had prepared table number markers of wine bottles with numbered labels, but on the day of the wedding had forgotten tables 1 and 3 (whoops!) They brought it to my attention but then quickly made it not "my problem" by printing out labels and finding wine bottles to replace them with while allowing me to focus on my friends, family and preparation. Cake? I sent them like one picture with a sort of idea and they prepared the most beautiful cake from that! Photographs are easy here as well. You can't go wrong with the mansion itself and the natural light. I've received numerous compliments on the food, venue and decorations, but I feel like since I put so little work into the whole thing that the praise should go to Barr Mansion! I keep encouraging friends to consider it as a venue, since I want to go back as a guest ;) read more

Went to a wedding reception here and it was absolutely gorgeous. The place flowed nicely and the new building in the back was a complete surprise and totally hidden from the front, which was a really nice surprise. My husband and I got married in September 2013 at Barr Mansion. It was the most perfect day! The staff was extremely professional and helpful all along the way. We got engaged in January 2013 and chose Barr Mansion immediately. Here's why: 1. It's beautiful! It's organic! It's eco-friendly! My husband is an environmental attorney and I am a registered dietitian, so needless to say this place was a perfect match. They have tons of referrals and you can bring in pretty much whatever you want (DJ, florist, photo booth). The landscaping is beautiful and the ballroom is amazing. I love every visual aspect about the venue - magnificent. 2. The FOOOOOOD. It's so good. As noted earlier, it's organic. It's also delicious. They have seasonal menus and let the couples come to a little party to test some of the menu before each season (which was great, too). They were very flexible and even let us pick things off of a couple of previous menus so that we got exactly what we wanted. 3. NICOLE! Nicole was my designated planner - and she rocked!!! I cannot say enough about her. First of all, Barr indicates that you will have a "Day Of" planner provided in the cost, but Nicole helped me the whole way through! My wedding was very DIY because I like that sort of thing, but she gave me tons of ideas about decorating and always had great advice when I needed it. SHE EVEN LET ME BORROW HER PERSONAL DECOR AND SUCCULENTS FROM HOME! She just said "Hey I have all this stuff that I think would work - I'll just bring it up here for you!" What a great person! She was very professional on the day of the wedding and did a beautiful job setting up my décor (my mom and some bridesmaids helped). She brought us appetizers and drinks between ceremony and reception... she even got me some pepto when I felt like puking from all the anxiety of being a bride! Over the whole process I felt like she really got to know me and my then fiancé and helped us make all the preparations to suit our needs and desires. The ONLY slightly negative thing I can say overall is that it can easily get a bit pricey. However, since they do EVERYTHING (food, bartending, serving, linens, tables, chairs, etc., etc., etc.), it's worth it. It was so nice not having to coordinate between 6-7 companies (I only got a florist from the outside). Plus, the menu is fully customizable so you can really choose how much you spend on food. Overall, it was the most beautiful, perfect, stupendous day I have ever experienced and Barr Mansion made it possible. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Barr mansion was the absolute perfect place for our spring, rustic-chic wedding. The venue is positively beautiful and the staff are wonderful. I want to take this opportunity to really say how wonderful our Barr event coordinator, Elyse Shumsky-Alcorn truly is! From our very first meeting with Elyse, we knew we were in good hands. With a straight-forward, direct approach, Elyse worked with us to create a delicious menu, perfect decor (she even let us borrow her office desk to set up some of our DIY items!), and smooth schedule for the rehearsal and wedding day. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Elyse was flexible and willing to make our day perfect. When we decided to have airline chicken breasts, she made sure mine was cut from the bone as a special request. When our guests continually interrupted us during dinner, she kindly and politely ran interference for us so we could enjoy our meal. We got married at Barr Mansion in July of 2013. This was the first venue we checked out and it was by far my favorite among the others we viewed. The staff was always professional and helpful. Elyse was the wedding planner assigned to our wedding and she did such an amazing job of listening to our wants and needs and making them happen. She truly went above and beyond to help us have the day we envisioned. She was easy to talk to, fun to be around, and always available. We feel so fortunate to have had our wedding at Barr Mansion. The grounds are lovely and always well kept. The venue is inclusive which took a huge stress off our shoulders. The food was delicious and everyone really enjoyed it. I loved every detail of the venue from the gardens and the main house to the flatware and the chairs. Barr Mansion is truly a one-of-a-kind venue that will enhance any celebration! read more
