This winery was our first stop on our afternoon of wine tasting at Seneca Lake. We were visiting from LA, and having done wine tastings at the CA Central Coast/Napa/Temecula regions, I have to say that this winery was a refreshing treat. The tasting room staff were friendly, accommodating and down-to-earth. The tasting, at $5 for 5 wines, is really hard to beat. There is ample parking and the winery itself is very quaint and definitely enhances the experience. We ended up buying a bottle of cab franc, but also really liked their unoaked Chardonnay. read more

This was my favorite winery of all that I visited on Seneca lake. It was on the smaller side but the wines were outstanding. There was some snack options as well. My favorite was their rose, it was super light and a great summer drinking wine. I also liked their cab franc and several of their other reds. The server was super nice and friendly. Great tasting room experience! This is a small winery, not one of those big commercial deals. The guy pouring was personable and filled us in on our choices. They also have a good variety of wines. They carry sweet wines, but if you only do dry red or white, like me, you'll still have plenty of options for your tasting. We also had a yummy cheese and meat plate with local products. PLUS--this place gave us the recommendation to hit up Barry Family Wines, which was my favorite stop of the day. read more

This was the first winery we visited in the area and my favorite by far! We came on a weekday so were the only couple there for the first half hour. The atmosphere is super welcoming and the staff member helping us (blanking on his name) was so knowledgable and friendly! We each did the standard tasting and then got a glass of our favorites with their meat and cheese platter - all local and SO yummy. Highly recommend stopping in here, you won't be disappointed!! It was a more expensive winery in the area. Barnstormer is nice but I didn't love all the wines. We did purchase the red wine mulling set which we enjoyed. The tasting felt a little rushed. They gave generous pours but then stood there ready to pour your next tasting. I felt pressured to guzzle the wine than to actually taste. Arrived with a group of six for our first time ever stopping at this winery. One in our party had a beer from the previous stop but didn't enter the winery, just sat on the deck to wait for the others. An employee came out immediately to say "you can't have outside beverages here, we sell wine and beer". So, the 5 other people in our party decided to not do a tasting Or buy your wine! Your loss Barnstormer! Was that one beer brought on your deck worth it to you to lose that potential revenue? Poor, poor business sense. Get your priorities in line! Really great wines! Loved the barn! Wood was so beautiful and the gifts available are nice, not tacky like some other places. We brought our 17 month old, I tasted, my partner watched our son. Wish I could give more stars because I've had their wine before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the service was lacking yesterday. I was greeted with a hello as I waked in the door, then walked up to the bar and waited patiently for other customers there before me. I waited. And I waited. These people were really nice. We arrived on a Monday at about 5pm. We were sad most wineries were closed but this one was open till 6!! we did the 10% off when you buy 6 bottles. FYI there was also a 10% off on yelp when you check in but we were told you can't combine them, it's just whichever discount is greater.
