There are SO many great things to say about BarNone and so many great things to say about this challenge, but here's the truth - you will work your butt off. You will question your sanity. You will have personal issues that happen to you during your challenge that will try to get in the way. You will ache, you will miss (good tasting, bad for you) food (so much!), and you will want to stop during the middle of your workout and not push those last three seconds of an exercise. And then, then you will realize that you are suddenly stronger than all of your wants, because your needs are more important. And that is the best gift ever. Before taking BarNone's 6 week challenge I was 50 pounds overweight due to an undiagnosed thyroid issue. I was uncomfortable in my own skin and avoided public events at all costs (what if someone saw me!?). What's more is that I was angry. I hadn't eaten my way into this! Not fair! In a pool of depression and my own self-pity, I came across BarNone's challenge on Facebook. My immediate thoughts were these: "Finding a gym where I fit in is hard and cross-fit sounds like a big scary word, plus have you seen the photos of the instructors? They're HUGE! Everyone looks so buff and in shape, no way I will fit in there. I like working out alone, I don't workout to socialize. The workouts are too intense and not my style. I'm going to just stick it out with my cardio." But the Facebook posts about the gym just kept popping up serendipitously on my news feed and my gut just kept telling me to go for it. So I took THE proverbial leap of faith and did just that. It since has become the most rewarding move I have ever taken and surprisingly, not only one that I survived, but one that pushed me to jump further than I ever thought possible. Here's what I found out - The most amazing reality exists at BarNone - no one is above anyone else, no one is better. faster or stronger than you, everyone is working towards the same goal of personal success and everyone is there to help each other to get there. Every stereotype I have experienced at other gyms didn't exists here. I did fit in and the value of the relationships I formed at BarNone have proven to be paramount to my success. Not only the relationships between myself and the trainers (who are AMAZING, I can't even begin to describe) but between myself and BarNone members and between myself and the other BarNone campers. Warm up's consisted of ideas for diet recipes and complaints of aches followed by stories of reward. Workouts provided us a space to laugh at our mistakes without judgement, receive reinforcement from trainers and push each other through our hardest moments. When you did make a mistake (I know I did!) you weren't chastised in front of the group. When you needed a moment to break (I know I did!) you weren't berated. When you couldn't do the exercise due to injury or lack of strength (I know I did!) you weren't scolded. The trainers at BarNone meet everyone where they are at while pushing them to where they want to be. If you make a mistake the trainers will come over and help you within proximity to you versus across a room. When you're tired or need a break, they let you have it and if you need a little pushing they will come to you one on one and ask you things like "how are you feeling?" or "are you okay?" versus yelling and berating you. If you can't do the exercise they will modify it for you. They are there FOR YOU and WITH you every step of the way and not only do they understand you and where you are on your journey, they are positive, kind and helpful in their interactions with you always working towards your end result. So here I am. 21 pounds lighter and fitting into clothes I haven't fit into in over a year without feeling the need to cover my stomach with a pillow when I sit. Excited to go out with my husband and happy to see people who I have missed. Running up stairs without having to stop and catch my breath. My blood pressure is down. I can pick up my niece without my back hurting. The apathy that drove me to sit on the couch is obsolete. Cleaning my house is a breeze and an extra bike ride or run on top of my workout is not only something I enjoy but it's something I need to do or I feel like I've missed a part of my day. I no longer crave sugar or the alcohol which used to help me "feel better" when I thought I needed it. Soda, my worst addiction? Is WAY to sweet for me these days (it really tastes terrible). BarNone absolutely changed everything in my life for the better and will continue to do so through my weight loss and beyond. But here's the truth - I worked my butt off. I questioned my sanity. I first heard of BarNone Training through a Facebook ad that popped up. They were advertising a free 6 week weight loss challenge. I thought it was too good to be true, but I followed the link and applied thinking nothing would happen except maybe I'd start getting some sales calls. That was not the case. They contacted me back and invited me to the initial orientation to find out more about the challenge. At orientation, we all learned that it was a 6 week weight loss challenge that provided nutritional guidance, workouts that you must attend at least 5 times a week (more were optional), and you must lose 20 lbs within that time frame. The motivation for me was the money. They do ask for a $497 deposit up front. If you lose 20 lbs, attend 5 classes every week for 6 weeks, check in on Facebook for each workout, and come within a healthier weight range for your height (as determined by BarNone), then you get your full deposit back. If you do not meet any of those requirements, you do not qualify for a refund. However, you can use a portion of your deposit towards a membership. My goal was to lose the 20 lbs and get my money back. As for my experience, I did not lose 20 lbs within 6 weeks. I lost 16.3 lbs. But, despite the negative reviews here complaining about the money (from people who didn't even do the challenge and just didn't want to invest in themselves), every dollar was worth it. If I had hired a personal trainer, 30 1-hr workouts would have cost no less than $2,000, and that would not have included nutritional guidance or the support I received from the staff and other group members (I have hired personal trainers before: minimum $65/hr and nutritional guidance is at least another few hundred). If I had done a group class through my gym, the instructor would have never cared if I attended, never checked in on me, and never bothered to motivate me to make me want to return. So yea, I did not get my $497 back, but I have no regrets. I have changed my life. I am still changing my life. I created friendships. I found my motivation. I learned how to put myself first and stop making excuses. I gave it my all and I'm definitely worth the $497 I invested in myself. Was I initially disappointed that I did not get my refund? Sure, a tiny bit. But then I thought about all the progress I made and the path I'm now headed down. If you have a lot of weight to lose, this challenge may actually be easier for you because it's going to be easier for you to shed the weight with the type of eating and workouts you will be doing in the challenge. If you are closer to your goal weight like me, it may be harder. I joined the challenge having already been working out for 4 weeks. My starting stats were: Height - 5'6" Weight - 165 lbs Body fat - 38% My stats from my 4 weeks of working out on my own, plus 6 weeks with the challenge were: Height - 5'6" Weight - 142 lbs Body fat - 27% I lost 6.7 lbs pre-challenge and 16.3 lbs in challenge. I also lost a total of 11% body fat, and I did take my measurements (chest, waist, hips, thighs, arms), and lost a total of 29.75" with both workouts combined. I've made huge changes in such a short amount of time! Especially being so close to my goal. We all know how hard it is to lose weight the closer you are to your goal. So, if you are truly at a point in your life where you are ready to change for the better, ready to give it your all and then some, and ready to finally put yourself first, I would highly recommend this challenge and encourage you to join. Don't let the $497 deposit stop you. Think about how much money you are or will be spending on insurance, doctor visits, medications, surgeries, etc., if you don't change your life now. Think about how you could potentially not be there for your future. Think about the future of your loved ones. If you have kids, think about the future you want for them. I joined the 6 week challenge at Barnone in January and it ended about a week ago. Let me first say, I did NOT make the 20lb weight loss goal. Regardless of that, I am so happy I did it. Even though I didn't get my deposit back, I gained so much. I lost weight, broke my sugar addiction and learned to love exercise again. The trainers are awesome and they really go out of their way to be helpful. I loved it! My husband and I did it together, and he DID lose the 20 pounds. They were upfront that this would be "free" if you made the weight and they returned the deposit to those who did (including my husband.) For those complaining about how they felt cheated there was a deposit, think about it. Imagine how many people who would want flat out free training sessions, trainers, nutrition help and more. Probably thousands. Imagine how many would take up their (Barnone staff) time, have negative attitudes and quit halfway through - many of them. They asked for a deposit to make sure only committed people took part. Guess what? It works. We didn't have to spend time training for 6 weeks with people who only wanted a deal and not put anything into it. Everyone who took part was 100% in it and everyone was so supportive of one another. I'd rather work out with those people than the ones who want something for nothing. They also NEVER said they would give you your deposit back or roll you over if you were "close." The person leaving that review must have heard what she wanted to hear because it was very clear in the contract and in the info session that the only way you could roll over is if you made the 20 pound weight loss. The contract was given to everyone at the same time. Too bad she didn't read it before signing it. I don't work for Barnone, although I chose to continue working out there after completing the challenge. It bothers me that such a great place and staff is being hurt by these bogus reviews. Yelp shouldn't allow people who have no actual experience with a place to leave reviews. If you want to lose weight and get fit, I recommend them 100%. Oh and by the way, Michelle H. if you are on a team's roster, you can say you "played" for them. I've never seen anything but honesty and integrity from Wilson. What a pathetic attempt to discredit someone who upheld the contract YOU signed. read more

When I saw the Barnone challenge offer on my facebook in the month of December 2016, I never believed that I will be able to reduce 20lbs in 6 weeks. I have been thinking about losing some weight for long time now, but never took any steps to put it in action. Also, being a tennis guy, always found an excuse to play tennis rather than doing a challenge. I was also taking Lipitor for my cholesterol and a lifestyle change was at the doors. So finally the Barnone 6 weeks 20lb challenge enticed me in doing this and of course, $499 refund if goal is met, was a sweet deal not to let go. So went for the intro session and it was a no brainer to make the decision. They clarified all my questions in that session and I walked out with a commitment to lose 20lbs in 6 weeks. It was easy to book for the daily sessions and the staff in Lenexa A and B facility were very friendly and answered any questions/concerns on the workout. When we work out with a group of like minded folks, it really makes fun and pushes us to do more when we are about to give up.It was fun. During every weigh-in, coaches provided guidance to be on track with the weight loss and reminds us of FTDI(Follow the Damn Instructions). Facility was clean. Finally, the D-day came and was so nervous to get on the scale, but when i saw i lost 21.6pounds, I could not believe my eyes and I was in tears for a moment. Barnone proved that anything is possible if you believe and FTDI. Also, they are very open about the various options to continue with the program or if i would like to refund and when i decided for refund, no upselling at all. I was immediately told that within 14 days refund will be done. Actually when I think about this, Barnone is just asking us to believe in ourselves and when we believe in our goal and put every effort in achieving it, Barnone has not gained anything out of this and in fact it costed them money in giving me six weeks of boot camp. Before Bar None's 6 week challenge, I had been started on medication for high blood pressure and was on the verge of being diagnosed with diabetes. The doctor gave me 3 months to get these numbers turned around. I was feeling extremely bad all the time. I was majorly stressed out, tired, run down and had absolutely no energy but yet still had trouble sleeping. I almost felt like a zombie at times trying to get through the days. Deciding to do the challenge was a HUGE commitment for me but I knew that it was really what I needed. I have dieted and been successful before but only to gain that and even more back. I at this point knew that another diet just wasn't the answer! I loved in the orientation when Wilson talked about holding us accountable. I felt that was really what I needed. This was just my first challenge but it has made an enormous impact on my life. I am eating healthier, I am getting exercise, I feel less stress and I am sleeping better. Granted, there were a few times when I didn't stick to it 100%, I worked hard to ensure the results were there. I had a goal and I had to obtain it! The workouts are like none other. Even though it is truly hard, you grow to appreciate the support and encouragement that is given throughout each and every one. I have been sore but have just had to push through. I have become invigorated with the energy I now have. It was truly amazing how quick I was honestly feeling better (even though I was sore). And most importantly, the results are the best part. I have not only lost weight but I tracked my measurements on my own and am very pleased with a 4.5 inch loss from my waist. People are noticing and asking how! I am so blessed to tell them about how Bar None has helped to accomplish losing 25.4 pounds in 6 weeks. This can be done and I am proof. A couple of months ago I responded to an ad through Facebook. The offer was for free help to transform your body in a 6 week program. I thought why not? I mean isn't time for me to do something for myself? I thought maybe this gym will be the one I've been looking for. I've tried several different programs and gyms in the area that just didn't work for me. I get bored really easy. Most gyms don't offer help to use the machines or have anyone around to push or make sure you are using them correctly. One evening I decided I was going to go to the seminar and see what they have to offer. What was the catch? They were offering a free program to lose 20 pounds in 42 days. It's not as easy as it sounds but my goal was to get fit and to lower my triglycerides. I took the challenge for 6 weeks. On my first day I fell in love with the gym and staff. I was very impressed with the care and attention that the trainers give to everyone during the workouts. It didn't matter if you had never worked out a day in your life or if you were an athlete, they gave every person individual attention. They want to make sure you are doing the movements correctly so you don't injure yourself. The staff is so knowledgeable that if you have an area that is hurting, they can give you a better way to move to alleviate the pain. I didn't make the 20 pound weight loss, but what I did get out of it is a healthier body. I am stronger and I feel so much more energy! I lost 4 inches off my waist line. I have muscles that are starting to show. My arms look and feel more firm. I love this gym! I wanted to become a member from the first day I showed up! I am proud to say that I am now a member of Barnone and so happy that I answered to the ad I saw on Facebook. I tell everyone about my gym, my workouts and how great the staff is. Bar none training provides a great environment that encourages individual success in a motivating atmosphere. Making a lifestyle change takes commitment, dedication and hard work. For me, this challenge was the best way to change to a healthy lifestyle! It is so easy to make time for family, eating out, work, watching TV, or "relaxing". This program forced me to get into a routine that made my health and workout a priority! I slept better, lowered my stress, learned to eat the right way, lowered my blood pressure, and my cholesterol is in the healthy zone! When I went to the very first meeting, I was scared of the unknown... The Barnone staff wants EVERYONE to be successful. My #fitfam at Barnone consists of other challengers, members, and trainers that were always there to push and inspire me when I needed it the most. Losing weight and getting healthy is HARD. Six weeks (aka 42 days ago), I started something called a "Camp Challenge" with BarNone Fitness. This challenge has been both tough and rewarding - not gonna lie, it's not for the faint of heart! On the downside, drawback include a fairly selection restrictive meal plan and a strict (I mean STRICT) adherence to working out 5 times a week! (Rain or shine, sick or healthy...gotta put in the workout time regardless of other commitments and priorities in your life!) You really have to go into this with the mindset that your health and fitness is ready to be a top priority until your "goal weight" is reached! That said, this has also been such a REWARDING opportunity! I have had the honor of having my butt kicked by some of the strongest, toughest, and also kindest trainers I've ever met! Their enthusiasm and commitment to helping me reach my goals was invaluable to my success in this first round Camp Challenge. I have also made fitfam friendships which made getting to the gym and through each workout so much easier! We "Challengers" have truly laughed, sweated and sometimes even cried together.....and knowing that others are going through the same things you are makes all the difference! I was fortunate that, with hard work and some luck, I completed my first 20lbs/42days Camp Challenge with more than 22lbs lost!! (Woot woot ~ insert happy dance here!) BarNone is like no other gym in the KC area, because of everything is has to offer. I started out as a group class member and then quickly became a personal training client, and have been for over 6 years. Wilson Thomas KNOWS what he is doing, he is certified in so many areas of the fitness industry, and he continues to expand his knowledge to better his clients experience. I can't say enough good things about the instructors at BarNone, they are kind but tough at the same time. If you don't believe me just try their 21 day trial membership and check out the classes. What's great is that the classes aren't the same exact thing every single week, they change them up from week to week so it helps keep your body guessing and improving. They also make sure you warm up properly, I am always MORE than happy to foam roll before and after class, as it helps with soreness after a tough class. I just recently participated/participating in BarNone's 6 Week Challenge, while yes there is a deposit, it is MORE than worth it, it's a proven program that if you follow the food instructions and you do the workouts, you will lose 20 pounds in 6 weeks. If you are serious about your health and committed to losing the weight, the deposit, that you get back when you hit your goal shouldn't hold you back. It is "free" when you think about all the time and classes and nutrition help that you receive while doing the program. BarNone is my home away from home and it deserves all the recognition as it has definitely made a HUGE and positive impact in my life. The beginning of my journey to lose 20 pounds began six weeks ago after I responded to a Facebook ad from BarNone for The Camp Challenge. For several weeks prior to seeing the ad I saw numerous posts from a previous co-worker of mine who was currently in the challenge. I was impressed that each post spoke highly of the trainers and the program. I was a bit nervous after attending the orientation when I found out that there was a $500 deposit, but I was to the point where I felt I needed to take control of my health before my poor choices ended with serious consequences. I was very excited that the program incorporated both nutrition and exercise. The nutrition portion of the program was truly challenging, but I gained several skills on how to incorporate healthy food into my diet. My favorite part of the program were the workouts. The way that the exercises were modified to my ability level and the support and knowledge of the trainers made the workouts challenging but empowering. I met some amazing people during my time in the challenge and the 'fit fam' was a wonderful support system and encouragement. I am proud to say that I successfully completed the challenge with a 25.3 weight loss over 42 days. I absolutely loved my experience at BarNone and would have loved to continue with a membership but unfortunately I am moving out of the city and would not be able to accommodate the commute. On base of my personal results I strongly recommend The 6 weeks Camp Challenge hosted by BarNone training Final weigh in for my second challenge was a success. I'm down 44+ pounds thanks to The Camp challenge hosted by BarNone training. I remember when I started, thanks to my partner in crime Ada Avila, who shared my frustration for being unhappy, unhealthy, emotionally unbalanced and just for being overweight. I was so angry for letting myself down and gain weight, believe it or not I don't even know how big I was until I was weighed right before my first challenge, I was crying on my way back home after finding out how big my problem was, but at the other end I was confused, at that point that I knew the magnitude of the problem, and at that time I didn't know if I had enough strength to endure the journey that lie ahead. But thanks to my amazing husband and daughter who believe in me and support me during the process-I made it; this achievement is for you guys. Special thanks to all the trainers at the camp challenge hosted by BarNone training, you guys transformed me both physically and emotionally for the rest of my life I will always be thankful for this opportunity. Shout out to my fellow challengers because you guys made this journey fun. I'm so happy I got the opportunity to know all of you and be a part of the FitFamily. These last 6 weeks have been trying, even more so than the 6 weeks before that! However, I am so grateful to every single person who has pushed me, supported me, encouraged me and especially to those who told me to shut my mouth when I spoke negatively about my ability to reach my goal. I am stronger, leaner, happier, healthier and smarter! I know which foods fuel my body and help get me to where I want to be and I have the knowledge and drive to reach those goals now! When my husband first told me about the 20 pound challenge, I was skeptical. But we knew that we needed something with a large degree of accountability to succeed. Although I had my low moments, the great strides I have accomplished toward my goal of healthy living has made this a success for me. I have more energy, I feel better, I can keep up with my kids, and I feel better physically and mentally. I still have a ways to go, but with the encouragement & support of my fit fam and the wonderful trainers and staff at Barnone Training, I know I will be a success! * I have just completed my second challenge. Just completed the 6 week Transformation Challenge. February 2016 I was 150 lbs (I'm 5'1)...yikes! I did everything from personal training and working out on my own and had on only made it to 142. 6 weeks ago after feeling so unhealthy and sluggish I finally clicked on this FB Ad I kept seeing about the Camp challenge #BestClickofTheYear! In 6 weeks I was able to to go from 142 to 132. I can't wait to continue my journey to a healthier me with my new #fitfam #NoRegrets #WorthEveryPenny #iBroughtSexyBack!!!!! Where do I begin with this challenge. First of all, I definitely needed a kick in the rear....I'm very glad that I did this. I made it to the end, I was focused and I worked very hard to succeed, AND I DID!!!!! I did this for many reasons, and none were really about weight loss. I've lost weight, more than 100 lbs before I even heard of this challenge, I got into a lot of bad habits though, and kind of lost my way. I also did work out at home, but I was doing a lot of my exercises with bad form and was hurting my body overall, instead of helping myself. I didn't want that anymore. I wanted to be able to work in a place where I was learning to exercise and eat and just take care of myself in a more healthy and safe manner. The trainers at Bar none did all of that and more. You all, along with all the campers were so motivating and supportive and had so much to do with me meeting the scale goal! I got so much more from this than just the scale victory though. I met people that I now consider friends, I met people in all walls of life with common fitness goals that I can continue to work with. This challenge was so "challenging", lol....but it was so fulfilling. It reinvigorated me, gave me more energy and more drive. I started off this past 6 weeks being cautiously optimistic, I'd read other people's reviews and it sounded good, but I have literally tried everything and haven't been able to get the results I have gotten in just 6 weeks! Meal prep was definitely the key to staying on track for me. The workouts are intense, but the kind that when it's over you're exhausted, but feel so good! Jumping in to my second challenge and can't wait to see where I am in another 6 weeks!! ::Edited on 9/2/16:: I just completed my second challenge through BarNone Training and I have officially lost 53 lbs.!! This past 6 weeks was much more of a mental challenge than the first 6 weeks for sure, the trainers are fantastic and really pushed me to give everything I had in every workout, even more than I thought I had in me! My whole mindset is changing and although I still crave the junk food (and gave in more than I would've liked on this second challenge!) it's not as much of my focus anymore, I'm learning that fueling my body with food that actually makes me FEEL good is so much more rewarding than eating that cookie at the work potluck! I'm getting ready to do my third challenge and am so excited to see where I'll be in another 6 weeks, seriously it's such a short time to invest into completely changing your lift, totally worth it!! read more

I've been obese all my life and I finally reached my rock bottom when I wasn't able to really take care of myself. Just going out in public was embarrassing for me. I had become an enormous, embarrassing mess at 273.7# Everything hurt, I shut myself in, suffered from depression, was adding more and more issues to my medical record.....you've heard this sob story before. But I was drawn to an ad for the 6 week 20# challenge at Bar None just this past July. I went to the meeting, I cried and cried. I knew right away....I needed this. It was completely different than anything I've tried before, so absolutely I signed up! I have just completed my 3rd challenge. I never knew I could be this driven and determined but I LOVE it!!!.....I'm down about 73.6# in just under 5 months, I look and feel better, have more energy, I can move in ways I thought I'd never be able to again, my confidence is back and everyone sees it! This program is amazing! I've never been held accountable for my health before, until now! The trainers are amazing, friendly, helpful, and supportive. My 2nd challenge is completed. I didn't succeed with an additional 20lbs list but with in the past 12 weeks I've lost 37 which is must better than I expected. My expectations of BarNone was extremely low when I 1st began. Questioned flooded my mind... Am I spending a bunch of money on something that is not gonna work? Am I going to fail? Every question hit me like a ton of bricks all at once. At the orientation I believe my I felt as though my head hit the floor from the $497 upfront cost that is Only a deposit for you to commit. Honestly ask yourself one question if you placed $30 a month on a gym membership--will you commit? Maybe but more than likely not. BarNone is different. They are not in it for you money. They want to change lives each & everyday. Especially the camp director Elena Larson. So many times I wanted to quit because of the trials I went through durning my 2nd challenge but she was right there pushing me just one more... She is so amazing that is why I've chosen to continue this journey as a member. If you're struggling with weightloss- do yourself a favor a commit to be challenge if you lose you get your full deposit back plus some wonderful people that make you accountable throughout your journey. read more

I recently completed a camp challenge at BarNone fitness and I have to share that it was awesome. It challenged me physically but more than that, mentally. I was never a huge guy but I've struggled with my weight since high school; I was never happy with my appearance and I embarrassed easily over my weight, I went on living day to day and it seemed like I could never get over that hump working out on my own but with the help of Wilson and the fabulous trainers at BarNone, I took back my happiness and confidence. I would highly recommend this place to anybody that seriously wants to get in shape or stay in shape. They teach you what and how to eat right, put you through tough workouts and show you how to personalize them. I can't stress enough how much of a life saver this place became for me; but it wasn't easy, I was terrified, afraid people would judge me, which they will, embarrassed of what they'd say but it turns out when you try to better yourself, real friends support you, encourage you and show love. You have nothing to lose with this place because you will succeed. The only thing I could tell someone that's on the fence of trying this place, DO IT! You'll thank me and yourself later. read more
