We have introduced Barnoa to our friends and whenever we dine out with them, they always suggest we go there. Visiting from New York City and went to Barnoa November 16, 2019 to have dinner and some great wine and heard the Honey Bees play. Their performance was incredible. They gave so much good energy and ambience to this venue. Their music had this small wonderful wine bar filled with fun and good times! Would love to see them come back again soon. I can't give a minus rating or I would. The music entertainment was a 10, and the wine was good, though, so I'm giving one star ! We had a wonderful time , until the end of the night at 11:00. We showed up at 5:30. We had appetizers which were just ok. In my opinion, the ambiance is kinda tacky but the music made up for the ok food and ambiance. My girl friend only had 2 glasses of Wine and I had 3 in almost 6 hours!. We kept to ourselves all night and we were not loud. After being there 5.5 hours I wanted one more glass of wine. They gave me one fourth of a glass and said that was all I could have. No reason was given, but the bartenders were rude and condescending. I declined the one-quarter glass. And then they 86th us! Again, we were engaged in quiet conversation all night and just enjoyed the music. The bartenders were extremely rude, including the owner. Maybe the bartender was upset because I wasn't into her. Except for Kim, everyone else was Extremely rude with no personality. They all need training on how to treat customers. It's the hospitality industry, for God's sake! I went to Barnoa for the first time with a group of friends for my birthday. I have to say the service , the food , the vibe is amazing. We went on a Monday which is their open mic night. It was amazing! Morgan gave us amazing service and Mike made sure we were okay and gave us information on our wine selections. The female bartender I think her name was Shannon was extremely nice. This is a much appreciated casual neighborhood spot. Many wine bars run on a business model of selling very cheap unknown plonk at high prices. Not here! The owner (Mike) truly knows wine and the shelves are always stocked with many good bottles at reasonable prices. Examples of labels you might see include Venge, Cristom, Austin Hope, Bedrock, Ramey, Halter Ranch, Epoch, Shafer, and many others. Wines on Barnoa's shelves are priced near what you'll see at Total Wine (sometimes lower)... not your typical restaurant markup. If you don't know what to order tell Mike what kind of wine you like and he'll help you find something that suits your taste. Mike also works hard to find quality wine to offer by-the-glass. The food is excellent and the servers are always very friendly. I'm constantly recommending this place to friends. read more

We enjoy the food, service is great, drinks are plentiful and great variety. Musician Will Heard is not good for this place. He started at 7:30 and by 830 he's taking a half hour break (on a Friday night). Total loss of momentum. Additionally he indicated he did not play any very common popular music. He plays weird and very old and obsolete folk music. By 9pm the restaurant and bar is at 25%. I am not bagging on Will, he's a good musician, he's just not going to get them any business Barnoa is a great location and has great potential, but they apparently have no marketing budget and/or marketing skills. This is 2020 so what ownership might believe has worked in the past does not work now. I'm writing this to help the owner understand that he's sitting on a gold mine here. We met him a few weeks ago. Update: Mike, the owner, reached out to me soon after I posted my initial review, as did a recent patron who found her visit to be outstanding. I look forward to visiting very soon, and I'm sure the visit will be everything others have experienced and shared here on Yelp! -----------------------------------------------------------------A girlfriend and I arranged to meet here as it's a great halfway point between where we live. I checked the hours on Yelp and we decided to meet at 2pm, which is when they open on Sunday (according to Yelp). Unfortunately, when I pulled up and parked in front of the establishment, I immediately noticed the painted hours on the door say "Sunday-special events." So I called them from my car and asked if they are open to the public. Kim answered the phone and said they would open at 5pm because they have a private event from 1-5pm. I explained that we were coming from afar and chose this place to check out. Her response was the equivalent of a shoulder shrug and a "Well, we'll be open at 5," even after I explained to her that Yelp says they open at 2pm. My issue is with a few things: 1. Make sure, as a high-end establishment, that your hours and information are posted correctly on social media and Yelp. The public relies heavily on both to pick and choose where to go. 2. At the very least, acknowledge the disappointment and inconvenience of your would-be patron and offer to accommodate them once they come back at the time you open. 3. As for customer service, don't ever insinuate a "there's nothing I can do" attitude with a customer. Fortunately for us, we chose to head to a nearby place that more than met our expectations! read more

What an outstanding wine bar. Stopped in by chance heading back to San Diego on business. What a great find. Mike, the owner, took excellent care of me. I had several wines and loved them all (so good I bought some to take home). The mannequin Chardonnay was delicious. Lots of complex flavors and the epiphany petite Syrah was impressive as well. They also serve craft beers but it was a wine night so didn't try any but like the idea of the beer option. Menu looked very interacting but I just had the meat and cheese tray. Awesome. Highly recommend it. I would love to stay I will stop back soon but from Chicagoland and don't get that way often. How cool is it that Mike was also born in the suburbs and also a Cubs fan ( go Cubbies!). The service could not have been any better. read more

OH OH OH I loved this place... As soon as my girlfriend and I walked in, I just knew I'd love it, I don't know why. The gentleman at the bar was super friendly, my friend and I ordered wine and he gave great recommendations! I was starving and he gave me free bread, a plus. Love my bread ;) The prices were very reasonable- you can get a nice glass for $8 or spend more for something nicer, but it was within anyone's budget! I will be back- I came in on a Friday and it looked like they had a musical performer who was setting up. We got there around 4:30pm and it was dead- so we were able to pick any seat we wanted. This looked like the place couples would show up to on a Friday to hang out, so anticipate crowds. We left around 7pm and it was getting crowded. The menu wasn't huge, but I saw the lady who worked there putting cheese plates together and I wanted to grab it from her- it looked AMAZING. What an amazing place! My friends and I enjoyed a summer night in the patio area. It was so fun. We drank several varieties of red wine that were all really high quality and delicious! They have impeccable taste in wine, food, and decor. Came here for a date night. Nice vibe, great seating options (couches, patio, bar top, etc). I'm not a big wino so thankfully the waitress was able to help me pick one by asking my preferences and then bringing two samples over. The food was really tasty. Appetizer: cheese and meat platter, and the brussel sprouts; dinner: taco- pork belly, chicken and carne asada. The pork belly was amazing! I can't believe what great tacos this place had! Not easy to get to, parking is a challenge, and the beer selection will make you feel like a guinea pig because they offer an eclectic set of beers on tap that you've likely never heard of, and I hear they always change so what you get one day isn't what you'll come back to the next time.
