3/18/2022 I had a appointment for 10am which was made about week prior for a regular cleaning. I…read morearrived at 9:35am. First thing I went to do was confirm my insurance with front desk. During this time I mentioned to front desk I'd like to inquire about the cavities that I currently have during my cleaning. Throughout the 10 mins that I stood there with front desk, she constantly kept reconfirming me that I was covered through Medicaid for this cleaning but she have to ask her friend about the fillings. She even provided a document with the Medicaid code to me. I time and time again reiterated to her to not focus on the cavity situation now. After being called to take am x ray about 10:30pm... I was getting by another young woman. As I sat down I hear whom I thought was drunken man by how he was slurring his words say " you need to pick an insurance " I look back and YES he was talking to me. I then asked "how do I pick? I'm covered for this" instead of answering.. he literally walked away while I was asking. He kept stating that he doesn't take straight Medicaid.... About 3 rounds of that. I immediately stood up because not on my was his mannerism extremely unprofessional but I then felt very uncomfortable and bullied. Very very tasteless and nasty attitude. I mentioned that I've been to this dentist before and had an amazing experience and that's why I returned. I then told him that he was really rude and he asked how in the most aggressive way possible. I guess he had better things to do... instead of possibly helping me out somewhat.. Not only did I take off of work for this but I planned in advance. Very unfortunate that I had to experience this.. I had no problem paying the $100 in cash but I wouldn't dare let that person near me with that energy and foul behavior.

I've had 3 appointments cancelled over the last year. Was told after the first cancellation that they were trying to figure out what was going on with the office and they would only be opened on weekends now. Scheduled an appointment on the weekend for a few weeks later this summer, showed up, and no one was there. Waited for about 30 min, and ultimately left. Tried to schedule an appointment for this month and was excited to return after going to a different dentist and having a poor experience with billing. I get a call from some other dentist there who was kind of curt and told me that they had to cancel my appointment. No reason was given other than they weren't sure when they would be back in the office. I tried to reschedule and was told there were no appointments available. I inquired why, and she told me for the reasons she stated: they were unsure when they would be returning to the office. So disappointed in this office. Dr. Wicks was my favorite dentist until now. Great bedside manner and very informative. Couldn't bring myself to give the office a 1-star review given that my experiences up until this year have been great. I wish there was transparency on what is actually going on with the office, but it doesn't matter now as I'm on the hunt for a new dentist, again. :(

I had clearly stated what I wanted to do and what I could afford, and the doctor kept talking around that, back door style, about what she was going to do. In other words, she wasn't really listening to my needs - or caring about my needs - and was only going to go in the direction she wanted to. I think if you don't have extreme dental issues, this would be a great dentist, but if you have other circumstances, it's not the right place.

Then, after…read moresitting in a waiting room for over an hour, if you want to be told to come back later that day so that the procedure can actually be done, then by all means sign in at the sheet here! Who doesn't love spending all their free time in dentists' waiting rooms?? The best part is that the receptionist will even argue that your appointment was actually an hour after you scheduled it for, just to save face. The only consolation is that two other girls in the waiting room were told the same thing. So either we collectively all forgot what time our appointments were...or the good doctor needs to update his appointment software (or retrain his staff, more likely). A bit of advice to the doc..if you're running behind schedule and are going to have a roomful of patients waiting, at least apologize for the wait when you finally do see someone. My time is just as valuable as yours.

Oh geez I called to…read moremake an appointment and I'm confirmed for TMJ because I'm in pain. I got a call the day of and they tell me that I don't have insurance. I do and later have my insurance company call them to confirm all my details because they weren't able to accomplish that task. When I come in I asked if they got all the insurance information and if my insurance will be covering the procedure or anything that happens today . They confirm . This is important because I don't think that they process my insurance and am suspicious about fraud. The dentist decided to take an x-ray and check it out. The doctor said that he would have a TMJ expert for me to see and send me up for tomorrow. They're expert gave me a look over and told me that the only thing that would work besides a mouthguard would be Botox injections. I say that seems excessive and wondered what else would work. She says that there's nothing else that works. I asked about price and she says that a specialist will come talk to me about the price. I sat in the waiting room with an expectation to be taken care of and they forgot about me until I reminded them that I was waiting. 30 min. They made an excuse to why I was waiting. I was not entertained by their conversations about pants, their lunch options, their new diet, and where they get their nails done. The specialist was there too, enjoying the convo. 10 minutes after reminding them I've been waiting. Somebody scribbles on a piece of paper that guards cost about $400 and botox cost $1,800 and my total. I asked them what my insurance said, and they say they did not call the insurance and that takes 4 to 6 weeks for an insurance to come back. I asked them to follow through and check. Later, I get the bill... $5,600.00 (My TMJ is gone, after reading home remedies on wiki) 2,500 for each visit. (Dentist and The 20 min consultation with the specialist. ) 850.00 for guards which I did not order or receive. As crazy as it may sound, it was after 6 years of not seeing a dentist so I needed quite a bit of dental work. I needed 2 root canals and 4 fill ins!!! I was a bit overwhelmed but the staff was amazing and made the whole process much simpler for me. They were also really helpful with my insurance and all of the paperwork I needed. Dr. Friedman didn't actually perform any of the root canals or fill ins, but the doctor that he has in house who did them is amazing. He explained the entire procedure to me before and even during the process. He made it as least painful as possible for me and while I can't say that getting a root canal or a fill in was a pleasant experience, I can say that it was the closest that I think I could get.

The first time, after having X-rays, I was sat in the chair and told the dentist wouldn't be in till the afternoon (my appointment was at 9:30 and I waited nearly 30 minutes) but the I would get a cleaning. After waiting another 30 minutes I left, the hygienist having never come in. This morning the office was not yet open when I arrived for my 9:00 appointment, and then after another 30 minute wait was sat in the chair and told the dentist was just two blocks away, no, 20 minutes away. I left. I did receive a timely cleaning and exam on my second visit, but 1 out 3 ain't good.
