I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Friedman and his staff. They are very professional and have great customer service. I have been going to Dr. Friedman's office for about three years now. I have always had very good experiences. In addition, Dr. Friedman and his staff take the time to explain what needs to be done. I came to this office after vowing to never return the the chop shop that was my previous dentist. Dr. Friedman's office is located in a modern high rise, yet his actual office itself seems extremely antiquated. That said, his technology and tools were very up to date (something my previous dentist severely lacked). Everything seemed to be going ok up until it was found that I had a failing root canal and two separate crowns that needed to be redone completely. (Again: previous dentist=chop shop. I have written a review on it.) Dr. Friedman was very friendly and professional and informed me of the severity of the root canal failing, and explained my options. So I started to get the appointment process rolling on the work I needed done, and it is here that the 3-star rating comes into play. Now, I'm not sure if this is my insurance company screwing up, but Friedman is not a general dentist. He only specializes in very expensive crowns and procedures, none of which my insurance covered, and none of which was disclosed to me until I was in chair. Now, this isn't to say that what he offers isn't good. I'm sure they're quality pieces of dental work, but not everyone can afford it, and as an office that accepted my insurance when I first made the appointment, I should've been informed that my insurance would only be covered for some work, and not for everything that I *should* be covered under. Alas I had to leave this office and restart the horrible process of finding a good dentist in NYC. *A sidenote: Apart from the failed root canal (which has since become swollen and I have an appointment with an endodontist to have fixed) and the two crowns needing replacement, Friedman told me I had a cavity that could become a root canal and needed to be filled soon. I visited this dentist after having a horrible experience at another dentist's office. It was actually off of a recommendation by my husband. The location is also super convenient for me. As crazy as it may sound, it was after 6 years of not seeing a dentist so I needed quite a bit of dental work. I needed 2 root canals and 4 fill ins!!! I was a bit overwhelmed but the staff was amazing and made the whole process much simpler for me. They were also really helpful with my insurance and all of the paperwork I needed. Dr. Friedman didn't actually perform any of the root canals or fill ins, but the doctor that he has in house who did them is amazing. He explained the entire procedure to me before and even during the process. He made it as least painful as possible for me and while I can't say that getting a root canal or a fill in was a pleasant experience, I can say that it was the closest that I think I could get. read more

They moved their office to 50th St. between 5th and Madison right next to Saks. They are on the 8th floor in a huge, modern space. When I walked in the dentist recognized me even though it was only my second visit and welcomed me straight back into the exam room. NO WAIT WHATSOEVER! The huge windows in the exam rooms overlook the top of St. Patrick's Cathedral. I found the nice view had a soothing effect during my cleaning. Yet again, the dentist was quick and talked me through everything so I always knew what he was doing. My teeth feel super clean. He also talked to me about bleaching and recommended that I buy more bleach on amazon because they can give much better prices than he offers. How honest and refreshing!! My experience with this office dates a couple years ago (2015) and I initially avoided writing a review because I wanted to forget about the intimidation and challenge I received from this office. However after discussing my difficult situation w coworkers, staff, and insurance companies that spanned over a couple years, I was encouraged to share my experience. Dr. Seguritan was very polite and professional. Dr. Friedman and his office attendants were not. When I underwent dental work for an accident, the office incorrectly billed me for out of pocket expenses that my medical and dental insurance covered. My hope was that they would be cooperative enough to work out the error. They were not. At the time, the woman at the front was very difficult and demeaning. In a couple exchanges, I had to express how uncomfortable and intimidated I felt when trying to confirm what my copay was. She was unapologetic about her behavior and adamant about how much I needed to pay or that I'll lose my appointment. When I expected more patience and understanding, I received a ticked off office attendant instead. This only left me with 2 impressions: either business is not going well and they need cash right now or they're not trusting people. Whatever mistrust they have toward the insurance process was spilling onto me and it was unnecessary. I felt more uncomfortable when I received personal phone calls and text messages from Dr. Friedman after I asked my insurance to get involved and correct the billing by Friedman's office. It turns out that his office was incorrect in how they billed me for services that both my medical and dental plans covered. He was upset that I involved the insurance companies and I later filed complaints against him and his practice because I didn't think it was appropriate for him to be contacting me and the professionalism of his office staff was poor. After repeated attempts from both my medical and dental insurance companies to correct the overcharge, Dr Friedman and his office became uncooperative with my insurance reps and then unresponsive. The level of unprofessionalism by the front office and Dr. Friedman alongside the lack of integrity and willingness to do no harm to its patients were short reasons for the bad review. Experience with my mother dentures.Totally Not recommended for dentures. DR Robert Friedman & Dr Somers @ 175-61 Hillside Ave suite 301 Jamaica. Queens I took my mother for new denture replacement in August 2017 . Paid out of pocket $1200.00. Her old dentures is worn out. I was happy to start the process with Dr Friedman & Dr Somers. They explained to me that my mother lower gum has severe bone loss that not much could be done to have a perfect fit with the lower denture. I agree and start the process that she could use denture paste for the bottom denture. My mother clearly explain about her previous issues with denture and how she would like her dentures. She tried it and it was very uncomfortable, both the upper and lower dentures. At the office they file it and make it to fit and it become worst , rough and extremely uncomfortable. my mother tried it at home for a week . she was told to try it for 2 weeks. My mother suffered badly. cuts and bruises in her mouth so severe she develop infections and has to do to her doctor to treat all the infection in her mouth. i watch my mother suffer and we went back to DR Friedman who said he cannot do anything about it that his doctor did his best. I would never want any one to suffer like my mother. Dr Friedman was very inhuman about this situation. Money hungry and don't care about the service he provide. My mother end up going to an ENT specialist for the injuries from this dentures. read more

*Their office did move to East 50th Street (Between Madison and 5th Ave) I've been going to Dr. Mikhail Seguritan for more than five years. Of all my doctors in NYC this is my favorite to go to - simply because they run on time. I've never waited more than 5 minutes after arriving - that is simply unheard of in NYC! The front office staff is always friendly and professional. It's easy to schedule an appt. and they send you a text reminder the day of the appt. Dr. Seguritan is always nice and does a good job on my teeth. I went to him after another NYC dentist told me I need a ton of expensive dental work - all of which my dentist back in my hometown told me was B.S. I found Dr. Seguritan after and was so grateful. If you hate wasting your timing sitting in a dr. lobby 15+ plus after your scheduled appointment time, then you should check out these dentists. read more

Just stay away. One of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had. You know it is bad when the insurance company is apologetic. Sadly, I do like Dr. Seguritan. He was interested in explaining and making sure I understood the procedure. Unfortunately the receptionist is unhelpful and combative. After weeks of waiting and unresolved administrative issues, my new dental office was able to get me the information by the time I was finished with the teeth cleaning. read more

I should have done this years ago (and said I would at last cleaning... sorry) - Dr. Seguritan has done great work on my teeth and mouth. He is professional in demeanor, has completed fillings and crowns that were as quick and painless as I could imagine them being, and the finished product is always smooth and complete. Receptionist is awful. I've had a toothache for a while and was eager to go to a dentist and heard that Dr. Seguritan is great. I'll never know now, because that receptionist is eager to keep patients away. I registered under my DMO yesterday and called her - she said I have to wait until next month's roster because it takes about 30 days to be added. I'm in pain, so I contacted my insurance and they managed to not only add me to the roster within 24 hours, but were willing to speak with and fax confirmation of my eligibility to the office. I call the receptionist again, eager to make an appointment. She starts throw as many things out there as possible to prevent me from getting an appointment. "It takes 30 days to be approved" - I explained that the insurance was happy to confirm. "Well, I already have my October roster so I can't see you until November." Then I asked why she didn't tell me this yesterday. "Well, I can only make an appointment if it's an emergency." I express that I am in pain. "What is it exactly that is your issue" - lady, I don't know, I'm not a dentist. She then says the insurance can call her and they can see if I have an emergency, but oh, by the way, can't schedule an appointment until ten days from now. So the end of October, meaning a day before you'd get the November roster anyway. Got it. Get rid of the receptionist. Going to the dentist is already an unpleasant experience for many, and there is no way I'd trust her with anything if she won't even try to get me an appointment. read more

After recently moving to NYC I was in search of a good dentist. Unfortunately I don't have the best teeth and really was looking for someone that could meet my needs, accommodate my busy schedule, and take my insurance. Luckily I stumbled upon Dr. Friedman's office after searching on the internet. When I made my first appointment the office manager was extremely polite, professional, and courteous. She called to remind me of the appointment, I also received a text message and email reminder. In addition Dr. Seguritan is the primary dentist in the office and he has been treating me with the best care. I needed an immense amount of work done and he did an amazing job. His patience, professionalism, and focus to detail made all my visits pleasant and I felt relieved having to find such a great gem in this very big city. Also I never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room, and the office is immaculate with incredible views of St. Patrick's church. Came to the office once, place is a scam! They promise over the phone they would charge me flat fee of $25.00, of course they charged me $70.00 and giving me the run around. They claim you have to pay cash then insurance company will reimburse, but his is not true. I have yet to see a cent and they will keep harassing; regardless of how many times you tell them you cannot pay the amount up front (hello, bill later if they are really concerned) which I did. Place is scam, make sure you call your insurance and verify the truth behind them. read more

I searched for a PCD in New York City, and Dr. Friedman seemed to have decent reviews. I scheduled my first appointment through ZocDoc for May 19th, which was about a month ahead of time. Dr. Friedman's office waited until the day before my appointment to advise me that, first of all, I am not on their roster, and second, Dr. Friedman cannot see me because the selected time slot is not available. With that said, my appointment was rescheduled for June 3rd. On June 3rd (the day of my appointment), I was called again and advised that Dr. Friedman cannot see me because he is out of the office, and so I was rescheduled for another day again. Finally, on June 9th, I got to my appointment greeted by unfriendly receptionist and waited 25 minutes before I was seen by the doctor's assistant. Several minutes into my appointment, I find out that I will be examined by Dr. Mikhail Seguritan (not Dr. Friedman), which was never brought up to me before even once. Turns out, Dr. Friedman does not even see his patients in NY office, and the office is run by Dr. Seguritan. After being on the phone with the office several times, they never had a courtesy to tell me that Dr. Friedman is not going to see me at all. When I gently brought up my concerns, Dr. Seguritan was apologetic, and the receptionist told me that I am free to see another doctor. I was anxious to get certain work done, so I had to schedule another appointment with this doctor. Today, the same receptionist called me and said that I "made the doctor feel very bad, and he is not comfortable with treating" me. Really?! Do you honestly believe that the way you treated me was the right way to treat a patient? I think, as a patient, I have the right to know who will be examining me ahead of my appointment. Anyways, it is probably for the better that they cancelled on me, because I was not comfortable with Dr. Seguritan treating me anyways. Such a dishonest and unprofessional way to practice! read more
