The dental hygienist was sweet and ver knowledgeable. It was literally the best cleaning of my life and I'm 36. She took her time and made sure each and every tooth was scraped, buffed and shined. She even flossed (not the dance actual floss lol) me at the end lol. It was the really nice to have someone take the care she did to make sure it was all clean. The doctor is sweet family man so friendly and overall nice person. Did a quality check at the end and provided some information on possible work I've been looking to get done. I explained all my recent serious health issues that prevented me from seeking care sooner. He was so understanding and caring. Though he could not start the work yet as he had patients waiting. Now I'm still left with a narrow palate, practically pointless fixing it at my age since most of my facial structure is developed. Instead you over charged for braces treatment and now I have a narrow underdeveloped mid face and teeth structure due to this. My lower jaw is wider than my upper making it difficult for my teeth to be touching. Your job was to fix my dental structure using correct orthodontic treatment based of my problem (narrow palate = palate expander) not slapping braces on every person that goes to you. When i asked you to fix this issue, you told me an additional $1500 after basically you didn't fix the main issue from the beginning. I wish i knew about this earlier but now it is too late. Ps. Also they have one of the worst appointment scheduling ever. It's extremely disorganized always. Prepare to wait for hours and if your lucky more than half an hour and this is when you come on time. The only negative times I had at this place was when I was a child many years ago. I had a female doctor who just hated me for no reason. She refused to have any tact when telling me I had cavities, and cemented this feeling of insecurity in myself that still resonates. There was even a time where she wasn't my primary doctor for a day, yet she asked the doctor who was caring for me if I had cavities. When that doctor told her yes, she scoffed and rolled her eyes. I'll admit that maybe I wasn't the best at dental hygiene, but doctors like her don't help their patients improve by humiliating them. That kind of blatant behavior pushes people away from dentists because they grow fearful of their harsh judgement. With all that being said, I hadn't seen her since and I like to think it's because she was reported and fired from that company. Every other doctor I've had has been kind and considerate of my feelings. I'll never forget one who comforted me when I had yet another cavity, even though I worked really hard to prevent it. He said that as a child, he too had a bunch of cavities because his teeth were naturally sensitive. That was when I learned I had sensitive teeth myself. So when I had friends that bragged about never having cavities even though they never brushed their teeth right, I could at least find solace in the fact that I was born with a disadvantage and I truly did all I could to stay healthy. Aside from customer service, the lobby and offices are very clean. There are two kiosks where you can do self check-in, although when I arrived they weren't working. Still, it's convenient, along with the many comfortable chairs you can sit in while watching TV or reading magazines. They also have a restroom at the end of the hallway and you can use an elevator to reach the 2nd floor where they are located. Lastly, they do accept payment out of pocket and without attitude. I felt the need to express that for those struggling getting dental insurance. Plus, with my bad experience in the past, I became hyper aware of people's emotions and words. I recently lost my insurance, and I feared that paying without it would set me up to be mocked, but that never happened, and for that and more, 34th Street Dental's service is healing my self-esteem. She put me on antibiotics...but the office did not call it in to the pharmacy. It took 5 phone calls, several excuses, and more than 3 days to get post surgical antibiotics! Additionally, they provided the surgical consent forms AFTER the procedure was done. Now I need to get the stitches removed and they have rescheduled me several times and then only left me with an option that is terribly inconvenient for me. Doctor OK, but support staff makes the experience terrible!!!!

All of the staff were very friendly and thorough. I'm very regular about my dentist visits (every 6 months) and have seen a couple different ones the past few years from moving around states - but Chung and his staff were able to identify a dead tooth/infection that I apparently had for a few years (they could tell it's been there a while based on the size of the infection growth shown in the x-rays). I'll need to get a root canal procedure to stop the infection from spreading! I'm appalled that my past dentists never caught this. They also pointed out several minor cavities & teeth grinding, and gave me suggestions on what I could do to solve those issues - ex. Filling the cavities, getting a mouth guard, and general tips on how I can be eating/brushing better to avoid these problems. The office lady also said she would check with my insurance to see what my out of pockets cost were and let me know, so that I could decide if I'd like to proceed with coming back for the additional work needed. I'll come back to update my review then, but great impression so far!

They're dishonest and look for things you don't have in order to charge you exorbitant prices. I came here to get my teeth treated. The dentist seemed hesitant in his diagnosis, and the hygienist was even worse. I don't have the best teeth, but I do maintain good daily hygiene. The hygienist recommended a deep cleaning because I had tartar and plaque. The cleaning cost $795. Then the supposed budget coordinator arrived, and the treatment for my teeth would cost $12,185. At another place in the same area, the treatment would have cost me $5,533. Even so, I paid half the cleaning, $395, to start, and they only cleaned half of my mouth, on the right side, both upper and lower. During the week, I got two second opinions from other dentists and called dental insurance companies and plans. The result: I have no plaque, no tartar, and a cleaning wasn't necessary right now. I had a broken tooth, and these dishonest people at Gentle Dental wanted to put a crown on me for $3,050. The other two dentists recommended the following: you have 70% of your tooth still good; it's best to preserve it by getting a filling that, with care, will last and keep part of your natural tooth. Think a thousand times before going to Gentle Dental. I recommend Corbin Dental Bayside.
