I really had no idea that this locationneven existed until today. It's kind of hidden from the main mall area, and that's probably thereason why. I hadngottnlen ised to their other location at Patomac Yards because I've spent manuly days and weeks working there in the cafe. Based on the online pictures it seemed likentheynhave tables and chairs and most lokely WiFi which arenthe three essentials for me to do work. I found out that this store is missing something else that's important, namely outlets to plug into. I found two outlets in the entire store way innthe back where they had individual cushioned chairs. Nowhere even close to the cafe area. That would have been ok however I couldn't even use my cellphone hotspot because it's so deep inside of the building. Why hotspot data? Ahh it's becausen their Internet wasn't working either. I basically left very dissappointed and walked across the street to the mall. It seems that other comenters have complained about the same issues and the management hasndone nothing to make corrections. That being said, I doubt I will ever waste my time there again.

Worst customer service ever. They need new management. I love B&N but this one made me think differently.

After asking too many questions about exactly which Lebanese authors were available at his…read morebookstore, the owner Dhiya came out from behind his desk and gave me my very own tour of the the bookshop. Here is Western writing about the Middle East, here is Egyptian history, here is dramaturgy and poetry arranged by country. I have traveled in many countries in the Middle East and am always on the hunt for modern Arabic fiction, and the state of Arabic bookstores in general is Abysmal. Dusty bookstores in the Arab world are full of nothing but religious tracts and outdated translations of English self-help books. Al-Hikma is a magnificent collection of every single type of Arabic writing, both religious and profane. You can find every single thing under the sun, far better than the majority of bookstores you would find in an Arabic speaking country. And rather than the few online bookstores available, you have that truly unique and wonderful human experience of browsing shelves and shelves of Arabic titles without having to know exactly what you are looking for. Located in an unassuming stripmall outside of Washington D.C., Al-Hikma probably does more to bridge the gulf of ignorance between inside-the-beltway Middle East expertise, and the true heritage of Arabic thought better than the State Department and the C.I.A. combined. Everytime I visit DC I try to make it to this palatial collection of Arabic writing. On my personal tour, Dhiya told me that he named his bookstore after the great library in Abbasid Baghdad. His bookstore is certainly a worthy inheritor of the namesake.

He gave us tea and cookies and a free pen, and great recommendations for books. Although ramblely, his kindness was truly touching. He explained that he has the first Arabic book store in dc, and he is incredibly passionate about free will and the right to literature. The store felt magical and peaceful , and I will cherish the few hours I spent there

Everything is laid out perfectly and the staff is always helpful. I had to also return something and had no issues at all. They seem to have everything that is online and in the catalog. A very very wide selection at the current prices listed. There is even a changing area where you can try on clothing. The lighting in the store is also excellent (unlike most scout shops). This feels more like an upscale camping store. Well done Northern Virginia Scout Shop!

Yet for the camping items, they are cheaper at major retailers. I'm sure the NCAC has to pay a large rent to be here, but I'll be getting tents, flashlights, and sleeping bags elsewhere. Still glad this is here. Props to the employees. They are all part of scouts. That alone is great, so you will get solid advice. They do have good products in here for the most part. Also they've been very helpful with last second court of honor items. Scout leaders forget stuff. I appreciate how helpful they've been, and am glad this stores at this convenient location. I had a very disappointing experience at the NOVA Annandale campus bookstore. The staff were rude,…read moredismissive, and unprofessional, which made the entire visit uncomfortable and frustrating. Instead of being helpful, they came across as impatient and disrespectful. Customer service should never make students or visitors feel like they're a burden, but that's exactly how this interaction felt. I expected a much more respectful and professional attitude from bookstore staff, especially on a college campus. I hope this location takes customer service more seriously and works on treating people with basic courtesy and professionalism.

Store manager is super rude with refunds (stated the store policy for etextbook that if the access code wasnt used then return can be made within time frame. My purchase qualified all that for return but she keeps complaining about eating the cost) what cost? Real money comes out of my bank. That the cost I paid. What cost she ate? The rules apply only when it benefits the store. Slamming the keyboard, whistling while doing refund and complaining aint best practice for customer service. Once they sold, there is no help afterwards if you have any problem even if the mistake came from miscommunication bw department and bookstore. I can't believe this kind of service still survive 2024. Lastly, don't call customers the "swearhearts" while degrading them at the same time. Very untasteful.
