Friendly staff, its times i enter a place like this i wonder. Is my indoor voice too loud am i obnoxious. Or are they not used to seeing black people read books. Always love coming to Barnes & Noble, they have a wide selection of books in all genres and toys and some miscellaneous items. They have lots of cute gift packages, perfect for Christmas birthdays, or any occasion. Love all the stuffed animal toys that go to children's books. It just gives that extra touch when reading your favorite books. employees were welcoming, courteous, helpful, and friendly. Book prices are pretty much the same as other bookstores. They did have some good sales though. read more

I just love this location of Barnes & Noble's at the Carolina Place mall. I have great staff, I love the layout, please do not remodel this store to look like the newer Barnes & Noble's. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and are pretty easy to find in the store. They have a great selection in the store and they can always order what I need. I like the café there, the barista does a really good job and they have a wide variety of drinks. I'm a member of the rewards program and I am always excited to see special discounts in the store and online. They usually have a lot of great book tables for you to peruse the most talked about books. I also have other great selections like journals, calendars, and other fun whatnots. You gotta go give them a try, crack a book open, give it a sniff, and enjoy the feel of paper in your hands. Let's keep our bookstores in business! read more

This Barnes and Nobles was within the Carolina Place Mall area. The store appeared larger than the Barnes and Nobles that I've visited in the past. The store has two floors and the standard cafe with limited seating on level 1 and additional seating on level 2. The location was neat, well organized and the cafe employees were kind enough to pass out sample drinks and drink coupons during my visit. I've always had a soft spot for book stores. Sure, those nooky little hole in the wall local joints are wonderful. I prefer them 9 times out of 10. But for the other one time, I truly like getting physically lost in a massive bookstore. Since brick and mortar is a dying breed for books in particular, I imagine B&N's time for this world is short. So I want to take it all in by visiting here as often as I can. This two-story (pun not intended) behemoth offers all you could want from a bookstore. Coming in here makes you actually believe such a place could last forever. Books of fiction and nonfiction span every possible genre and age range. While books may be the namesake, they foray into every other imaginable genre with a touch on media. Vinyl records, CDs, DVDs for your electronics fix. Plenty of gifts and knick-knacks, stationery, fandom toys and décor, board games, and on and on. B&N has done a great job of cramming a Starbucks into every store too. There's now a membership scheme that could certainly rival that of Amazon: $25 for a year which includes free shipping and a lot of other great savings. While I do love a good, big, quiet library, nothing beats a similarly sized store with everything brand new and ripe for instant purchase and consumption. Whether fortunately or not, the store also sits fairly empty which makes for plenty of quiet reading space. Come in and read one book then buy another. (I know, I know, that's not the way to keep the joint in business.) At the very least, it's a great place to hang out with a cup of tea and a mind full of creativity. read more

I used to be quite the B&N hanger outer. We'd make an evening of it. Come here, pick up a couple of books and magazines, find a comfortable seat, read for an hour or three, then leave. Sometimes, we'd buy a coffee. Rarely did we buy a book. And I have to wonder how B&N stays in business. Do this many people buy books at full retail price to keep the lights on? Yes, there is a membership club and if you're planning on buying $200 of books in a year, you'll start to break even at that point. And I think it gets you free refills on the drip coffee. Clean, organized, prices marked, shelves stocked, associates willing to help if you can find them. But the prices? Wow. read more

Ooh how I miss Borders but Barnes will have to do. The customer service here is great and the selection of products is also very wide. I've been to this location on several occasions not for books but to check out the Nook and to stop into Starbucks. There is a Starbucks in this store (full service) fully equips with couches and seating. My most recent visit here I remembered to check in on Yelp so I could review later only to find out that this place wasn't listed on Yelp which isn't cool. So I added it in order to check in and review. My husband and I along with our son attended Pajama StoryTime this weekend which was held upstairs in the children book sections at the stage area. I wasn't impressed with the StoryTime here as my son and I usually do weekly StoryTime at the library and we have high expectations according to how that one is ran and how amazing it is. The Barnes one was dull and super short I mean she walked over and didn't even start by playing with the children to get their attention. She just picked up the book and said "I'm reading something dragon" Really! She flew through the book and was done in about 1 minute 42seconds TOPs. She then offered coloring sheets of dragons and crayons to the children while she offered kids club cards to us parents which we accepted because we read a lot to our son. They need to attend a StoryTime at a library to grasp ideas and incorporate them accordingly. read more

I never write reviews but all the bad reviews for this location plus my service made me want to write one! I was looking for a specific title tried on my own and then went to the service desk. I quickly realized there wouldn't be anyone coming to the desk so I went to someone who was organizing shelves and she immediately got to a computer to help me find the book I was looking for. We looked where it said it would be and then when we realized it wasn't there she went and looked through the entire store. I really really appreciated this service and told her a million times don't worry about it. (Another employee actually found it for her) 3 employees helped her and no one had an attitude about it. read more

There is a young lady who works here who treated me really weird; I wanted to buy some dinasaur toys and books for my 2 year old nephew. I reached out to this woman and she reacted weird; almost like she wanted to make me feel like I'm getting too close to her when about to ask for help. Im a brown man, foreigner in the US; I'm wearing a mask and understand the logic and importance of social distancing so I kept what I felt was appropriate distance when asking her my question. Immediately she takes a step back and gives me this awful look; I apologize, take a step back and proceed to ask my question. I then tell her what I was looking for and that I'm vaccinated and she says "oh I don't like people getting too close to me". Fine with that! Seemed weird considering there was well over 5 ft distance between us but still No harm no foul. BTW, no mask on this woman. Once she is done helping me, I pick up what I need and I go to the counter to pay. There she is, standing 3 feet from another customer laughing and giggling. Both, this lady and the customer with whom she is exchanging such niceties to, not wearing masks and both white. Just my observation. This young white lady is probably in her 20s, 5'9", dark hair, glasses, and plump. If you see her, stay away from her. I think she is used to talking to white patrons and if you are a POC, she can make you feel uncomfortable read more

The customer service here is always great! Not to mention there's more than enough space for anyone to kickback and catch up on some reading. This is one of my favorite locations to visit, so it's a no brainer that I will be returning. read more

It's hard to give any bookstore 3 stars, but I'm going to have to. This location is pretty nice and convenient at Carolina Place Mall, but the location can also be a hassle since it's in the busiest part of the mall (near the food court). I always park at a different part of the mall, probably on the other side of REI and then just walk here since the parking lot is extremely crazy and I've seen a lot of "near misses" from crazy shoppers either rushing through or just frustrated in trying to find a parking spot for 10min. Overall, it's a 2-story B&N, so it can provide hours of browse time. I noticed on the 2nd story there are big windows with deep ledges so you can hang out there [don't know if that was done on purpose or not]. There are a good selection of other items aside from books: movies, boardgames, novelty gifts... Sometimes you can find a good price on their bargain priced books, but I tend to do my book shopping at another location... that involves my house and a computer, but it's still nice to browse around once in a while. read more

Why in the world does this bookstore have raggedy chairs for it's customers to sit in? I have purchased many books from Barnes and Noble , so, when I want to sit and read one with a nice cup of coffee, I do not want to sit in chairs hat look like Edward Scissorhands was just there. I shopped at this store and stood at the counter ten minutes waiting for a salesperson to come. When she did come she over looked me & took people ahead of me & I spoke to her about it before she took anyone else. This is not the first time this has happened to me at this store. I know stores are short staffed & people patience is wearing thin but a little kindness, consideration & awareness can diffuse anger & mistreatment of people. This location is one of the B & N that I frequent. This is one of the two-story locations, so there is plenty of room to browse and they provide ample room to move around and plenty of chairs and tables. The parking lot access is not on a main entrance to the mall, making navigation a bit easier. They have a pretty substantial selection of books and other gift items. Though, to me anyway, the first floor seems to have an awkward layout, especially with the bargain books, references, and children's section colliding underneath the escalator. Though, that said, they do have a lot to offer. The staff has always been friendly, too. read more

Right off the bat, this review gives three stars because it's Barnes and Noble. This company has mastered the feel of relaxing, cozy, leaves you alone to browse books, etc. Three stars for that, and for always having a coffee shop in the store.. The fourth star is because it's two stories, there is something really cool about having an escalator in the middle of the store. It also gives you plenty of space to wander around in your own time. I didn't give a fifth star only because on the few occasions that I've needed assistance in finding something, the employees haven't been very friendly. I like that they leave you alone and let you do your own thing for the most part, but if I need help then I want them to be pleasant. I like going to Barnes and Noble just to wander around, with REI next door to this location it makes a nice evening of getting coffee and browsing. read more

Did an online order to pick up in store. I received an email that my order was ready and waiting for me to pick up. I also received a text with the same message. 2 days later, I drove from Huntersville to Pineville to go pick up BUT items were not on hold for me- they instead put them on hold for other customers. My hold slip was sitting at the register untouched, while my sold out items sat on the hold display with other customer's names on them. Manager gave no reasons for this but did tell me I should have called first. Because apparently an emails and texts are not enough? Called corporate customer service, a phone call is not necessary.
