I really like Barnes and noble and the familiar smell of books that hits you when you walk in, this one in particular is dog friendly and I was carry my small dog around and the associate told me I could put him down to walk and they allowed dogs so that was nice. My dog is very quiet and well behaved. As far as the layout goes, this one was two floors and escalators. My favorite sections where on the top floor so I spent most of my time there, you'll find books for all kinds of hobbies, travel books, cookbooks, books for pets, sketch books and coloring books. Downstairs had a kids section, fiction and non-fiction books and magazines. Many books were discounted or on sale. Overall it was quiet and had lots of seating space to work from. Stopped in to great the new Wicked for Good vinyl and so happy to remember this place exists. I love the feeling and memories walking into a Barnes and Noble gives me and each employee made me feel warm and welcome. Also need to mention that they seem to be pet friendly. Had no idea! I love this Barnes and Noble, it's HUGE! They have such a wide selection of books, music and stationery! They also have great coffee! I come here whenever I'm in the area to add to my home library and browse what's new in stock! They also sometimes have author signings and events like that so definitely pop in a read the flyers! They offer so many different editions to many classics, and even have some signed copies in store. This location is also home to Orlando's only in store A24 section which is super cool for us cinephiles! The employees here are always willing to help and go above and beyond to to you find what you need, so grateful you guys are amazing! This large Barnes and Noble is a treasure, retaining the older, cozy design style of the stores that I frankly miss as many of their locations across the US undergo remodeling. The bistro serves up Starbucks coffee and variety of small plate brunch style items. Personally I'm a big fan of the quiche and if dining in, you can request a plate and silverware (a nice touch). The store itself is always staffed with friendly bookish folks, I go out of my way to come to this location because of the excellent experience I've had over the years. Maybe you'll save a couple of bucks online, but consider supporting a brick and mortar bookstore, especially one that continues to be a community staple. read more

This is one of the few Barnes & Noble bookstores left and I really hope they continue to hold it down in Colonialtown. There's just something so nostalgic about B&N and I'd be sad to see it go. This store was an integral part of my childhood and teenage years, and the smell always brings back the memories the moment I walk in. This was THE spot to hang out with friends (also parent-approved) and grab a "starbucks" (not a real starbs tho) while you perused the magazine section. The place where you could be a cool kid with your coffee in one hand and a young adult fiction book in the other. I've had several coffee dates here, evening study sessions, and even attended a lecture or two. Nowadays, we make this our safe Facebook marketplace meet-up spot when buying or selling random items to strangers lol. This particular location is two stories with books, games, music, toys, stationery, and more. I actually always find unique gifts here and don't miss out on the clearance section. As my son gets older and begins to enjoy books more & more, I hope that I will be able to take him here to pick out new books to add to his collection. read more

This Barnes and Noble is one of the best locations in my opinion as it has two stories of stories! Lots of toys, music, games, book accessories, the Starbucks coffee station and a dedicated customer service desk directly in the center of the store. My favorite section being the clearance for all the great discounted deals! The kids section is also so well done with a stage for story time and lots of room for the kids to explore. If you need a gift for practically anyone or even just browsing for something new for yourself, this is the bookstore to wander into. read more

I don't like this one for some reason! I can't explain it but it just seems like everything is thrown together and they put the shelves together in a way that makes it hard to shop. There are lots of dead ends, and oddly small areas to navigate through. It's not supposed to be a corn maze where you can get lost in the store, but With that being said, they have all of the standard B&N items. There's a coffee shop inside (I think it's a Starbucks). There's an upstairs area which is actually kind of open as if they don't know what do do with the space. Also, there are people just sitting on the floor in the aisle's just hanging out. Maybe it's because they took all the chairs away? But what should I have to awkwardly step over some stupid teens sitting blocking the aisles munching on snacks? The staff should get people off their asses and say move along. Anywho, I've been to many bookstores in my lifetime (Walden, Borders, B&N, B Dalton, Half Price Books, Books A Million, etc.), and this one just isn't welcoming for some reason. Clean up your act, rearrange the "aisles" and get those damn kids outta the way, Brah! read more

I could get lost here for hours literally. It happens weekly. I love the space and selection of books. I usually run my fingers through random genres of book shelves while humming a song and whatever book my hand lands on when the song ends is what i take to the top of the balcony and sit on the floor and read. The checkout lady is always nice and patient (cant remember her name). I always find cool priced deals of great/dorky things to add to my collection, like four leaf clover bookmarks, deftones vinyls with a sprinkle of hard/soft cover poetry. read more

Man I forgot how much I love B&N until I walked in for a Starbucks while in training out in Orlando. Right across the street from SunTrust, I loved being so close again. The smell of the books. The polite, friendly employees. The handcrafted beverages. I really have to say that this place was a treasure to me when living in NJ and I do hate living over an hour away from the closest one. I was confronted by Barnes and noble employs someone told them that they had seeing somebody had taken books to the bathroom so they decided that it had been me and they started to follow me around the store and giving me looks like if I had stolen something without proof or evidence of this situation ,this made me really uncomfortable. there was this employ in particularly a skinny withe male that wears glasses follow me around very very closely ,The worst part its that they decided that it had been me. Im a color woman myself so they racial profile me I asked him that if he was following me and he said NOT, DO NOT BE WEIRD .that guy is not apt to be working there ,very soon after this a woman employ approached to me and said that somebody had told them they had seeing somebody taking books to the bathroom what she meant with it ? that I had done it , they did not have any proof or evidence of this the situation.This is the most unpleasant situation I have ever been in and my dignity as a human being was destroyed. read more

The tale of Ben S and his wet hands and poor customer service ... I needed to review this Starbucks Cafe Located in Barnes & Noble after my odd and terrible experience I had just picking up 3 cream soda drinks here. When I walked up in line holding my bottled drinks, it took Ben over 20 minutes to wait on the one lady in front of me. No one else was in the line. I patiently walked up in the line and waited. When he finally finished with the previous customer and he rung up my drinks and I paid with my card. He turned his back to me and began cleaning the counters with a wet rag. Dirty wet rag. He did not give me my receipt or a bag and did not turn around again for a while. I waited a few more minutes and he never turned around again. I finally asked him for a bag and my receipt. He then in frustration as if I was bothering him grabbed my receipt and a bag with his dirty wet hands that he just used to clean the counter in the middle of my transaction. I asked him for another bag and explained that his hands were wet from the rag he just used and it saturated the brown paper bag. He gave me another bag and never washed his hands. And sort of gave me a huff as if his dare I ask him for another bag as if I was bothering him. He never washed his hands. A line formed behind me and as I walked away, again he never washed his hands. So happy I did not place an order to have him pick up a danish or make a drink for me. Not cool or sanitary at all Ben. I just wanted drinks, a dry bag and my receipt ... Customer service where? read more

4 Stars for a perfectly good chain bookstore. It's kind of strange to pull for a Barnes & Noble almost as if it's a local biz, but I somehow find myself doing so. It's unfortunate that all of the local bookstores have closed in years past, so when I'm needing a quick book pickup, B&N is a decent alternative (versus amazon). In terms of the space, it's typical old-school (see: 90s) bookstore. The staff is always very friendly and super helpful when looking for a book. They will check the computer and even walk you to the right section (when it would be easy to just tell you where to find the book). It looks like they occasionally host author lectures and other special events. read more

An extra large store for the chain, this place is two stories and has an entire back section devoted just to music and movies as well! It has been a part of this shopping complex for years and is a staple part of the overall look and vibe of the complex itself. This chain usually offers pretty large locations, but this one outdoes all that with a two stories filled to the brim with offerings. We've found more than one gift here and plenty of things for ourselves. The smell of a book store alone is enough to pull me into the depths of endless aisles, but the fact I can get lost in here all day is exhilarating. The staff here is really good with pretty much any questions. A hidden gem is the music area register, so if there is a line up front, you will want to make a quicker exit using the back area to check-out. They have the standard cafe area, so if you need a coffee / snack to keep you going while you browse you'll find it there. Ummmm the smell of books, actual paper and it's tantalizing cover art. I love this place. It's a great place to come hang out and get lost in books. Honestly, I have not been here in a while and it's the kind of place I didn't realize I was missing so much. Life is hectic for everyone, but when I come here I have a calm feeling wash over me and I shift into quiet mode. The selection of popular books and magazines is vast. Didn't know this place carried so many toys, games, and activities books for kids. If there are no toy stores nearby, this is a great place to come buy kids fun items. This is a review for a franchise of bookstores, but I hope Barnes & Noble can stick around for book lovers and those that want to hang out in a cafe and study or just zone out. Bookstores are becoming harder to find but these guys keep it going. We get to this location once a month or so. My child likes to get new books and hangs out with friends here. She has had to talk to associates to find books and get them ordered. This last trip she was looking to return a damaged item she had ordered online and they found a good one in stock for them. Outlets, outlets where art thou Outlets. Hahaha....this Barnes and Noble will definitely benefit from more outlets. I know its a bookstore but in thid century a lot of people come to Barnes and Noble to drink Starbucks and work on their laptop. If you are like me you read half the time and work on the laptop the other half....so they need to bring on the outlets. Other than that it is great. It has two stories and escalators. Also the bargain section is on point. The kids section makes me want to be nine again and there are plenty of sitting spaces. read more

I came here looking for children's books in Spanish. I was really pleasantly surprised when I found the Dr. Seuss books in Spanish and English. Some of the books were all in Spanish, others had Spanish Burbage for the top of the page and the English Burbage at the bottom. Now that I am a new grandfather, I will be reading to my new grandson in Spanish so that he can also learn the language. Looking forward to doing some business with Barnes & Noble. My experience here that day was a very pleasant one, I asked one of the clerks where I would locate these books, and like is the trend now, she walked me to the location where the books are. read more

I had a few hours to kill in Orlando so after a quick Yelp search I headed towards this Barnes & Nobles. It is conveniently located in a nice plaza with food and drink options nearby. I find that all Barnes & Nobles are very nice inside and this location was certainly no exception! Cafe nestled in one side, all sorts of people spread about the store flipping through magazines and books, this a great place to just relax. Call me cheap but upon entering these shops, I beeline towards the bargain section. I've found classics and books I never thought I'd need to read until I saw them in those clearance racks. Some B&N have only a small rack or table of these low priced books, but not here!! A few whole rows, tables, and even a cart labeled "last chance" for extremely low priced books. I spent about an hour happily perusing this section. Friendly staff, comfortable chairs, and the same great selection of books and magazines I've come to love from Barnes & Nobles. I haven't been to this particular location in a long while but I usually enjoy myself when I do because It's the biggest Barnes & Noble that I know of (in Orlando). I don't know what it is but I feel as if it's because I had nostalgia for this particular location from when I was a kid and now as an adult it's as if the rose-colored glasses of my youth have been snatched from my face like and snapped in half like a wish-bone on Turkey Day. Their book selection seems much smaller and less-interesting. The overall cleanliness of the store seems to have slightly dipped in the years, no longer sparkling clean and cozy, now somewhat dim and merely coasting. The bathroom(s) (I suppose I can't speak for the Women's) was/(were) a hot mess. I'm talking 2007 Britney Spears-meltdown hot mess. The floors were littered with toilet paper and used paper towels and the toilet paper holders were broken in half and were decorated with amateur, Sharpie graffiti (the handiwork of some bitter teen who probably never learned how to read good). While I still will make this my first go-to book store in Orlando, I sincerely hope that management irons out the wrinkles that seem to have slowly, but surely been forming over the years. read more

This is without a doubt my favorite Barnes and Nobles in Orlando. The two story building has such a cozy ambiance; I would gladly curl up on the floor and drool over the large array of food magazines they have available. The size of the Starbucks cafe is also pretty spacious. It's close to lot's of great eateries, or serves as a place to wind down after doing a bit of shopping. read more

This one is very convenient to home, and is surprisingly a HUGE store. The selection is extensive, and for my purposes, the graphic novels, the travel books, and the Music/Films are well stocked. One tradition I'm used to is grabbing a handful of books/mags and getting coffee in the cafe and decide which one(s) to purchase. Yeah, this cafe is pretty packed almost every time I go. So definitely a word of caution before you make a trip there for this purpose. Although, B&N does make up for it by having tons of seating areas throughout the store. With Borders now gone, I definitely want to ramp up my efforts to keep B&N afloat. read more

My sister-in-law's birthday is on June 4th. So every year at the end of May, I find myself making a trip to this Barnes and Noble to buy her a gift card for her birthday. She likes to read by the pool, and she gets to pick out a book that she wants. But I also go to Barnes and Noble in other months as well. A great place for buying gifts for family and friends. And I always find something for me. Like the cookbook with recipes for the slow cooker. Barnes and Noble has a great selection of books and magazines, and a great selection of books marked for clearance. In the rear of the store is the music and movie section. A great selection of CDs' and DVDs'. I am really impressed with the catalog for both motion picture and television. I find many DVD of rather unknown films, either foreign or independent, that many other stores do not carry. And I am glad to see that the vinyl section has grown over the years. This B&N also has a great selection of British television shows on DVD. Or should I say, the "telly". There are many places to sit throughout the store. Both upstairs and downstairs. Which makes it great for chilling out on a hot day. Especially at the café on the first floor to your right as you enter. Seating at times can be at a premium. Especially when someone has set up a home office at one of the tables provided. The staff is very helpful in finding what you are looking for. And shipping is also available. So if you are looking for that autobiography of Robbie Robertson that your brother in Atlanta wants to read, B&N can help you out. The only problem I have with the store is the bathrooms. As for the men's bathroom, there are times when paper towels are all over the floor, and water all over the counter. What the _____ is someone doing in there? Taking a bath?! This is more the fault of the customers. Why someone has difficulty throwing paper towels into the trash can is beyond me. The restrooms need to be kept up on a more routine schedule. Another problem I had on my last visit was the person having a conversation on their cellphone while waiting in line at the register. Maybe it is me. But how about taking your phone call to a place more private? Now if you excuse me, I want to look at that recipe for pepper steak in that new cookbook I just bought. read more

My rating is a combination of two ratings. As a book store I give this B$N a 4 star rating. I like their selection, the store is clean and pretty quiet. The other rating might seem a bit silly to be factored in, because it has nothing to do with books, but I give them a two star rating for being somewhat inhospitable. I used to spend hours in the cafe on the weekends or evenings to get work done in an atmosphere that enabled me to focus in (relative) comfort. I'd have some chai, I'd nibble on a pastry, or something. And then I would reward myself for all the awesome work I got done by buying myself a book...or two. Well NO MORE! They've apparently decided that they don't want anyone lingering. In an effort - it seems to me - to get people in and out in a more timely fashion, they have completely covered all of the outlets (sorry laptop people) and have gotten quite a bit pushier in the cafe. The last time I was there I got my chai and a piece of quiche, sat down to work until my battery ran down, and while I was there - eating the quiche, drinking the chai - a waiter (?) came by and rather forcefully asked me if I wanted to look at the full menu. Maybe I wasn't spending enough money on the food to warrant taking up a table. There were hardly any other people in the cafe, so it wasn't as if I was hogging space that other people would've liked to use. It seems like an over-reaction when I read it back to myself, but it really left a bad taste in my mouth. I was made to feel unwelcome and, frankly, there are other places I can work, so now I do. I do my work at Starbucks now (I have issues with staying focused at home) and - as a result - do not often treat myself, or support B&N, with my formerly traditional post-work book purchases. read more

Not all BnNs are created equal. I dig this one over all others in the Orlando area, and not just because it's the one I first went to, and am most familiar with. The people that work here are awesome. From the peeps behind the help counter that will search out a book you can't find (whether it's in their store or some other one in Orlando), to the folks behind the cash register who are chatty in a cool way, to the rocker dude workin' it in the music\movie section. THEY ALL ROCK! (Seriously. Ya'll are awesome!) Super helpful and funny, the people alone make this my favorite bookstore in Orlando. The Starbucks is always bopping too, rarely an empty table. I don't partake generally. Like probably others in BnN stores, they don't accept Starbucks gift cards, which is the only reason why I'd find myself in one... so yeah. That kinda sucks, but otherwise it's cool. Only reason why it's not a full 5 stars... as great as it is, it is The Man. I still prefer independently owned, local book stores. read more

Being one of the last few remaining bookstores that has a good collection of books is the Barnes & Nobles chain. This location like all others is pretty packed with tall shelves stuffed with books. Which kind of makes it a little difficult to find where the different genres are located in the store. They also have a second floor where the majority of the tables and couches are found but they're usually already taken. So I usually hang out in the kids area... You know they always have some sitting area there. One thing I wish they made easier was the way to navigate through the store. Since it's a little hard to see all the signs (due to the tall shelves) your next option is to head to the customer service desk, but they're usually helping another customer or just not there. So that's when I head to the cash registers and have them page someone to the customer service desk. But let's be honest that's just too much extra work just to find a book. Overall the general feel of this store isn't what I picture when I think of a book store. I typically picture getting that cozy feel of grabbing a book and just sitting down but this place feels more like a big box store. And since there isn't Borders anymore I guess Barnes & Nobles will have to do. read more

I'm old fashioned. Yes, I understand that e-books and Kindles are the future, but that's just not for me. I love feeling the weight of a book as I hold it, I love the smell of a book, and I like wandering around book stores to see if something catches my interest. Also, I like knowing if I drop a book (because I'm super clumsy), it won't break and I'd have to pay 80 bucks for a new Kindle. Barnes & Noble is a chain, of course. You've probably been to one at some point in your life. What sticks out to me about this particular B&N is the knowledgeable and super friendly staff. If you're in B&N, and have a vague idea of what kind of story you're in the mood for, the staff just about always has helpful suggestions and will walk with you until you find something that fits the bill. Also, B&N is just a cool place to hang out if you're bored on a weeknight. There's coffee and baked goods, and you can just relax and read with minimal distractions. Again, I know e-books are the future, and yes, I know that books are cheaper on Amazon, but I still love wandering around bookstores. Also, my bookshelf would look awkward if all of my books were on a tablet. read more

When I'm out of town, I make it a point to find a B&N so I can peruse the magazines and see what's new in the book world. This location does not disappoint. It has a quality bookstore atmosphere with friendly staff and shelves that are well stocked. The Café area has a great mix of people who were working on their studies, enjoying an offsite meeting, or simply sipping on their coffee. Bottom Line: Some say the bookstore format is dying...yet I find today a reason why I enjoy GOING to the bookstore. You can't get this experience merely by reading an ebook at home.
