This Barnes & Noble book store is a pretty massive one in Canton. You can enter from the front or the rear of the store, depending on which way you're coming from. If you're looking for brand new released reading material this is the place to find it. Everything is categorized into fiction, biography, history, romance, cookbooks and more. As long as you know the author, it shouldn't be a problem finding what you're looking for. There are resourceful books for a variety tests or exams one might be taking. At the rear of the store there are records and CDs. This is also where the children's books, toys and games are. There are certain times dedicated to story time for little kids. Should you need a coffee break, there's no need to go far. Starbucks is right here in house. They also have a sale section, usually those are activity books or similar. Be prepared to pay the manufacturer's price for most items. read more

This a good-sized and clean Barnes and Noble with a pretty good stock of books in all categories and some magazines as well. There's also a Starbucks inside if that matters to you. It does, however, provide some extra seating which is always a good thing in a book store. That said, we wandered around for quite a while, checking out the history and cooking sections -- everything is pretty clearly organized -- and came away pleased. There's a special section for kids, for tech stuff and for just about any special interest you might have. They have lots of space devoted to gifts, which has never been our favorite part of a book store (let's use that space for MORE books!). There's an information area in the center of the store, and the employees there are pretty good at helping others find items. In all, a nice store, nicely arranged and worth spending some time in, as we certainly did. It is, we believe, the largest book store in this part of Connecticut. read more

A large and organized store. I went in the back entrance from the playground. There was a register but I don't think that's used often. There were a few sale/marked down item racks througout. Each section was nicely organized; I saw a Harry Potter section which I love as a HP nerd. The kids section was spacious; they have a little stage area for storytime. I saw a sign that they read to kids every Saturday morning at 11 am. My toddler loved the mini train set they had there. There is also a cafe onsite up at the front of the store, which was pretty popping on a weekday. There were gifts and other knick knacks; great place to buy things for book worms. Overall, a nice bookstore with a great selection! read more

A clean and large B&N with a cafe, this previously abundant chain is now harder to find. It has a good selection of books, music, movies, puzzles, games, kits, legos and gifts. They also have a few discounted areas and you may get lucky finding something you want. The shopping Plaza has a good selection of clothing stores, including Dick's, Flatbreads, Paper Store, and more. read more

We hardly have Barnes & Noble where I live. So this was a treat. My son adores going in this store. However him being a toddler, I'm constantly telling him no don't touch the books. We went to go check out the selection of puzzles and toys for him. They have a good kids' section. This particular location is a good size. They have helpful staff. They have a little cafe area with Starbucks within. Overall, great stop if you are in the area because it's within a plaza that has other shops as well. read more

Pretty good selection of most genres. Definitely helps having a Starbucks inside with outdoor seating to get a head start on my new books! Spent a very pleasant hour there today, browsing, looking for a gift, having a coffee and people watching. PLenty of bargain bins to sort through looking for treasures. Nice music section too at the back of the store. We interacted with three employees - a woman at the information desk, our cashier, and the server at the coffee shop - all were very friendly and helpful. We saw a ton of people in the coffee shop taking advantage of the free wifi. read more

I love this Barnes and Noble - located in the middle of the Shoppes at Farmington Valley, it is somehow managed to be kept clean and organized. (Bathrooms, which I have visited once, may not be opportune during peak holiday times, which can be said of all bathrooms) It's not a very large store, but has a lot of display tables, fun clearance section, and I've never had a bad experience with an employee there. It's also very community oriented, and around the holidays you will usually bump into some sort of book drive. The most surreal was when a small group of children were playing the recorder. I don't know where they came from, I don't know how well they did, and frankly don't know whether they just walked in and thought, "This place needs to hear our recorders jam", but my rambling point is you never know what you will encounter. In the age where book stores are in such peril, this one is definitely worth a stop. The best parking is in the back, the front is usually full up and you'll end up driving around anyway. read more

I was kind of disappointed with this B&N. I feel like there wasn't that great of a selection of books. They had a pretty good sale, and the bathrooms were clean, but I couldn't find any of the supernatural books I was looking for, and the store's setup was just different than I'm used to with most B&N's. I ended up finding a map I was looking for, but left a little disappointed. The historical section was a bit lacking at this one too. read more

I just had the most unpleasant encounter at the Starbucks at this location. I asked the employee (Sarah) if my order was correct and within seconds she snapped at me. I was picking the drink up for a friend and I wasn't sure if the drink was made correctly because I personally have never ordered it. After she snapped at me, I calmly asked her to please be nicer to her customers. The fact that she is a manager is BEYOND me. And not to mention our drinks came out like ice block slushees rather Frappuccino's. read more

This B&N is small and when I went in last night around 8:00 p.m., I literally tapped my foot at the register waiting for an employee to ring me out for a good three minutes while her boss ordered her around stacking books 15 feet away from me. To be fair, I know that B&N has the WORST BUSINESS MODEL IN THE WORLD -- let's let everyone browse and read out merchandise for free inside our store and let them walk out empty handed so that they can buy it on eBay or Amazon later for half price, treating BN as if it were a public library -- but this was atrocious service. When the manager is more concerned about making the display look the way the guide shows than she is about ringing sales, there is a problem. This is more of a general B&N gripe than any indictment on this particular location, but should you really trust a store full of paperback and hardcover books that has now completely in invested itself in an e-book device? It's like saying, "Look, we know you like books. That's why you come here. We like books too. More importantly, we like profit, and if this whole 'book' thing goes south, we want to make sure that we extract every possible dollar out of you for a device that we won't be able to support, upgrade or offer any assistance with after we file for bankruptcy and sell our assets just like our brother Borders." A bookstore that wants to turn books into loss leaders to sell gadgets and lattes is not a bookstore for me. read more

A nice bookstore with a Starbucks coffee small cafe. It's good for some reading while enjoying a cup of coffee or having a snack or a treat .It's much neater and well maintained than some other Barnes &Noble locations specially the one in blue back square . I wish they maintain their restrooms and clean it as they do with the store itself as they often lack soap ,toilet tissues ,paper towels and floor not clean . Some of their employees are are unfriendly and grumpy so that's not helpful when you need help with something or fave a question. Overall it's a decent place for all ages and families. read more

Love Barnes & Noble!! They have a great children's section, the cafe is good, and I love the way they support local organizations. My daughter's school has had several "Barnes & Noble Night" events ... the teachers read a story ... they do a craft, and get a snack, and it doesn't cost the school anything!!! I love how I can shop at BN.com and then get an email to come pick my order up in the store. Staff is friendly and helpful. I could spend all day here!! read more

My favorite part about this B&N location is its staff. Everyone has consistently been extremely friendly and helpful; even if I walk in without any clue what I want I always walk out with a fantastic new book, movie, or tv series recommended to me by someone who works there. It's also always well-organized and decently quiet, which makes for a pleasant browsing experience if you need to kill an hour or two. The one thing that bothers me is that restocking can take quite a while, especially in the SciFi/Fantasy section (and when it comes to Magic cards...the booster pack shelf was empty for ages!). It's also difficult to find books that fill slightly more niche markets, which I suppose is more than understandable for a large chain bookstore, but would it really kill anyone to have a few more books with queer main characters in stock? Or to keep a few more good ol' fantasy classics on the shelves? That, however, is more of a general B&N problem than this particular location. read more

I have to admit right away that I go to this Barnes & Noble every day and so I am somewhat prejudiced. I mean, if I make time to be there pretty much every single day unless I'm very ill and in bed, I must like it. Yes, I do. I do! The Store Manager there is always very friendly--Rand--and he is very informative about what is going on in the store, and what new books or games are now on the shelves. If I have questions about why I can't find a certain book, or why corporate took some tasty treat I like out of the cafe, he always has a good answer. He is very approachable. They have a new manager--Carol--who is also very forthcoming and helpful. I also enjoy Katie who is also a student and who has an intellectual take on any books I'm thinking of reading, and just in general, you can ask any of the employees in the store and they have ideas about new good books to read, and they will answer any questions you have and look up any questions they can't answer promptly on the computer. I spend much of my time in the cafe where they have extremely good food that has no calories because its very, very tasty (ok, joke) and the atmosphere is nice and tranquil. Karen does a great job of managing the cafe--she is very calm and collected and has a good head on her shoulders. There is a broad range of baristas that work there, all expert at making the drinks and putting together the meals. They will even pamper you by bringing your order right to your table which they do not have to do. But that's what it's all about at this Barnes & Noble, service for the customers and making sure everyone is taken care of and satisfied. Kudos to Amy and her excellent support for people who need help with their Nooks. You're the best, Amy--the store would have to shut down without you! If you are one of these people who does business in your local cafe, or you are a writer, or you need calm and tranquility to balance your checkbook, Barnes and & Nobles at the Shoppes is right for you. The kids section is great with a lovely lego table and a train set, and more books than you can manage in one session. I recommend just holding the little buggers captive at the store for several hours. Trust me, from my personal experience, that will insure that your kids do extremely well on their SATs later on and remain readers for life. I can personally attest to that. So, bottom line, like I said, if you are looking for a great bookstore, come here--we have a great community of readers and thinkers here and you will find a home in this store if that's your schtick! read more
