What an absolutely wonderful place. This delightfully quirky bookstore rambles across two buildings: the main shop, which is already packed full of treasures on multiple floors, and the newly-completed seasonal "book mill" building (built right over the water) which the owner describes as being intentionally disorganized to encourage browsing. I failed to take many pictures because being in here is such a fun, engrossing, woodsmoke-scented experience: my phone stayed in my pocket for pretty much the duration. Everything from the smell to the wonderful stop-motion short film playing in a little cubbyhole to the lovely owner and employees and the interesting rooms to discover (there's almost an entire floor devoted just to massive photography books!) is like a kind of amusement park for book-lovers. The books are also priced to move, which is great. I 100% plan on going back to West Stockbridge largely just to bask in the atmosphere of this bookstore again.

Fantastic book seller for in The Berkshires. Discounted prices on unusual titles. A pleasure to browse.

Fantastic collection and curated with great care and a wonderful sense of whimsy, particularly when the old mill building is open.

What a cute book store! This spot is in the middle of the woods and you are sure there isn't…read moreanything out this far away - and then you come upon the book barn! The building is crammed with books. Lovely piles and stacks in every spot. There is even another out building with discount books. We spent a long time hunting through the piles and I loved every minute of it. The areas are organized and labeled very well so you know what genre you are looking at. This is lovingly looked after and kept. A literal hidden treasure

The owner is English and her business is an extension of her lovely personality. I have childhood memories of this place that could have come straight out of a magical fairytale book. There are many categories here; a large history section, gardening, art, film, geography, mythology, crafts, so many categories and subcategories, and because they are curated by someone passionate with books there are no filler books here. The prices are unbelievably reasonable, this is a curated collection by a woman passionate about books, making a living off of it feels secondary here to the passion of finding the books. You will not ever find another place like this. In a small rural town no less! This is a destination place if you are visiting the area. Such a gem!
