I recently visited Barnes and Morgan in Chinatown/Old Town Portland, and I was pleasantly surprised by this charming tea house and clothing boutique.
Initially, I thought the area didn't have much to offer, but this place completely changed my perspective. The interior is beautiful, cute, and impeccably clean, creating a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about their tea selection, providing excellent recommendations tailored to my preferences. They offer a wide range of teas, including green, black, white and herbal varieties, and they generously provided multiple cups for sharing, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Their tea sets are absolutely adorable and truly blew my mind. While it isn't exactly an afternoon tea setting, their croffles are delicious and make for a perfect accompaniment to the tea. Additionally, the selection of clothing is so stylish and unique. I particularly loved their Asian topcoat style jacket. The concept of combining tea and threads is very interesting and adds a unique twist to the experience.
The only downside is the limited seating. Although we didn't have to wait, the number of available seats is not large. I recommend visiting this gem for tea before it gets too popular and seats become harder to snag.
Barnes and Morgan is a delightful spot that offers a lot more than I expected from Chinatown/Old town. I highly recommend stopping by for a cup of tea and a browse through their stylish clothing selection. read more
