Brent Collier resembles Bruce Willis. But that's unimportant, we are in Portland and we don't care about celebrity. In any event, he would would be the good Bruce Willis, not the bad. What is important in Portland is that Mr. Bruce, I mean Brent Collier has made a career of going to Italy and buying clothing direct, and the same with the NYLA garment districts. He brings it back to little, but creative Portland. Who else does that here? No one. And Collier has an excellent eye. He buys shirts, suits, jackets, sweaters, ties, belts scarves, and more, in small quantities. The quality is stellar, and the price earthbound. I found a great lightweight wool Italian suit at Collier with extra pants at a very, very reasonable price. Let's just say 1/4 to 1/3 the price of any place in the area. Same for some dress shirts which continue to draw compliments. Collier has a wider range of color than some of our stylish male clothing purveyors who hew to black, brown, gray and white. If you want unique suit fabrics at a reasonable price that would qualify you to be in The Sartorialist http://www.thesartorialist.com/, this is the only place in Portland. His former store was the Stockroom, and all the cool kids in town, now grownups, have been patrons for a while. If you need fashion advice or suggestions shopping, Collier can provide that too. Well priced high end suits meet awesome customer service. I've purchased a few suits from Collier and I've always been 100% satisfied with my purchases. If your looking for high quality materials and new, European trends this is your place. A month before my wedding I found myself without 10 suits for myself and my groomsmen. I walked in one day and explained to Brent (the owner) my situation and he very confidently told me that he's got me covered. He ordered custom suits for my wedding and what I got was much higher quality than What you'd find at a large retailer and at prices that were affordable. One of my favorite places to buy a suit in Portland. No other store will carry the suit you find in here, so if you are aware of the gem consider it a pleasure. The owner travels to Europe frequently to look at fabrics and designs and is a perfect person to shop with. Collier immediately reached for a classic style that fit my odd measurements (6'4", long limbs) near perfect, and noted a few changes to make. Since when did my 14 year old son come home saying, "Mommy! You have GOT to see the suit in this window downtown! It is SOOOOO beautiful!" Umm...okay. It would appear my influence and our living in Italy has paid off. The boy is actually paying attention to his appearance. So I went. I saw. I agree! This shop has loads of beautiful shirts, ties, suits, and also some jackets made from incredible Italian fabric, tailored perfectly, yet fabricated outside Italy in order to keep the price point manageable. I am impressed! The salesperson was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, and more than willing to show us all sorts of variations on themes. This will now be a go-to place for The Big Man and I just may splurge on that suit for a certain well-deserving boy with an exceptional eye! There are no hoodies, and I didn't spot any plaid nor did I spy anything with an ironic message scrawled across the front. Collier is a great place to get great suit at a great price. I purchased my suit a couple years ago and always receive some compliments from it. It is comparable to a more expensive suit sold at Saks Fifth. I definitely recommends this store. The owner knows his stuff and is incredibly passionate about it. He tries to help my bad fashion sense by recommending me how to wear certain things. The best thing about his recommendation is that he is not being a pushy salesman. He really just tries to help. I also have a tie from Collier that is absolutely beautiful. Next time, I will look at their casual collection as well and then, re-review this store. Time to re-review: I just came back from Collier and looked at their dress-shirt collection. Rating stays the same. I should share that their size is by the quarter, not half (as in their neck size). I went to Collier today to see about getting funeral-appropriate attire since I was asked to be a pallbearer. I gave Brent (the owner and namesake) the vague instructions I had been given about what to wear and I wasn't really expecting a whole lot, but the level of service that Brent went on to give me blew me away. Brent helped me pick out the perfect two-piece with shirt and tie, gave me plenty of tips on fit and style, gave me an AWESOME deal on the whole bundle, personally drove me to his preferred tailor since it was raining, got me the special rate there, then drove me back downtown and dropped me off near where I worked (just down the street from his store). It's hard for me to express how amazing this level of service was, especially at a personally difficult time for me. Collier is the BEST in town! I took my precious son to Mr. Brent Collier's store on Broadway to buy his prom suit. We came from a Men's Wearhouse in Beaverton after having a frustrating experience there (quality, fitting skills and the store clerks' knowledge and their interests). . As soon as Mr. Collier and his handsome cellist staff had assisted my son, I knew instantly they were fantastic. What an artist ! Being a businessman's daughter, I've seen many good quality suits everyday, and seen how it should be fitted. I'm also a very picky mom. Mr. Collier won me over in a few seconds ! My mouth was instantly closed and I just enjoyed watching them working with my boy (which is ultra rare...). I was so happy and so was my son. The suit they had picked for him is made of exquisite Italian fabric. Mr. Collier had kindly and thoughtfully made some fine adjustments so the suit fits my son perfectly. Mr. Collier thoughtfully took into some considerations that my teenage son's body may change a bid, and he made sure the future adjustments could be done easily. And the tie they had picked (beautiful flowery color ) for my son made him so impressed. We could not possibly think of a better combination by ourselves. We love Collier and Mr. Collier. What an artist. You will be very pleased. I wish I could show you all the photos I had taken while we where there with Mr. Collier for my family and friends in overseas. And, because he buys direct he can pass on the savings to you, by foregoing the "middleman". My husband has gone in there and found the coolest, most unique pieces, and yet hasn't had to pay "Marios" (men's clothing store in Seattle & Portland) prices! If you need alterations he'll mark your jacket or pant and send it out for you...you don't need to take it somewhere else to get this done. Located in Pioneer Place near Saks (mens). They carry suits/dress clothes (Brioni, Zegna, etc) but more importantly they carry a small selection of raw selvege denim. As far as I know it's the only place in the city you can find Sugarcane, Momotaro, Kato (and I think Agave and Jean Shop?). If you are ready to step up from the fashion denim and into the real thing this would be a good place to start. read more
