From the moment we reached out, he was responsive, personable, caring, enthusiastic, and showed that he listened to us and really *heard us*--really, all the things you'd want in a person who will document one of the most important days of your life. The thing that most impressed us was how Mark was able to make us feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera, how he wasn't at all intrusive but was completely central in capturing all the pivotal moments of the day, and he expertly navigated through a huge weather challenge (i.e. rain the whole day) on our wedding day. We weren't expecting the rain, and we had to significantly re-shuffle our wedding format 3 days before our wedding, and from that came lots of jitters and a bit of stress day-of. But what Mark captured in our photos of our wedding day was everyone having SO MUCH FUN, of how much fun we had ourselves, and of me and my husband being present and in love. And let me tell you, Mark got some stunning photos of us in the fog and rain. I'll also mention that we thought Mark's pricing was very competitive, and we did not "miss" having a second shooter at all. We ended up with about 600 digitally edited prints (that we own), with over 100 favorites that we'll put in an album. This turnaround time was also very quick, around within 4-6 weeks! First of all, when I looked at Carlos' work on his website (https://www.carloshernandez.co), I loved it immediately. His style is so sophisticated, high-end, and timeless, and that timeless quality in particular is really hard to find these days -- we didn't want photos that were heavily filtered and dark as is the current trend, we wanted photos that would look beautiful for decades to come. What we wanted is exactly what we got. I am in awe of these photos. I shared them widely and can't wait to frame them. Also, I was stunned when Carlos provided a selection of fully edited shots within just a couple days of my wedding! Not only did we love Carlos' photos, my husband and I both loved working with him and his assistant, Kallie. They are both lovely people, extremely professional, kind, and easygoing. I was way more nervous and frazzled on my wedding day than I thought I would be, and Carlos' calmness and self-assurance really balanced out my gnarly energy and put me at ease. He's very chill and understanding of the emotions and inevitable delays involved in a wedding day. When other factors messed with the wedding-day timeline, pushing it back, he came up with quick solutions when we didn't have as much time to shoot family photos before the ceremony as we thought we would have. His photos were incredible, especially considering that the event had club lighting, so I don't know how he made everyone look so good. Despite the chaos of the party, he managed to get pictures of everyone smiling and having a good time and he captured some really special moments. He navigated quietly through the crowd and came out with incredible shots of our staff and clients, did a number of arranged group shots, and was a total pleasure to have at the event. While I believe his specialty to be wedding photography, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any corporate event or party and would work with him again in a heartbeat.
