It was opened in 1972 and really has passed its' prime, it is an old building situated in a run up of shops of less branded shops and more lower class shops which don't look or sound too good. They is a small amount of shops, but all of these you'd expect to see in a small town anyway such as Cash Generator, Greggs, Argos, Heron Foods, a few pound shops, a phone shop (EE annd Vodafone) and Wilko, so certainly it seemed to be nothing special, which meant it would be easy to walk in and out in under a minute, especially with what I presume to be a few entrances to other shops. This shopping centre just seemed a sad place, a depressing place and it didn't even seem like a shopping centre, just a few shops piled together with an ALDI, KFC and Tesco outside.

Other outlets here include Costa for a coffee, Boots for a chemist/pharmacy, a couple of discount stores, pound shops and a pet store. It is classed as part of Salford, but it is a short walk from the western edge of Manchester city centre, just head straight down Liverpool Road from the Hilton at Beetham Tower. It's fairly easy to follow and find the stores you need here, but for a smaller retail park, this has to be expected. There isn't anything in terms of food options outside the supermarket, but KFC and McDonald's are across the way. It is easy to access as a pedestrian, and for cars, there is a large car park centred around Sainsbury's. 3*

Although I still avoid one of the stores like the plague, choosing to travel 4 miles to my nearest equivalent, I do use nearly all the other stores several times a week. With Sainsbury's, Boots, Argos, Home Bargains, Sports Direct you pretty much have everything you will ever need in these stores, not to mention the others. So its a good location and a decent selection of stores. My only downside is the layout, featuring two four way roundabouts in quick succession, it can become rather chaotic at times, especially with idiots and the speeds they drive. But all in all its a good place.

We're talking lovely jackets, shirts, dresses, jeans, shoes and accessories in contemporary and vintage styles and fabrics. I'm probably shooting myself in the foot by letting you in on the secret but the Sale in this Whistles is always fantastic. Whilst the other branches tend to sell out of Sizes 8-12 super quick, this branch usually has at least a couple. To borrow a line from Garbage: "Go baby, go..."

With true outlet prices and a decent selection of styles and sizes, there's plenty to tempt old and new fans alike. The staff here are extraordinarily good, offering honest opinions; amongst the best boutique staff I have ever encountered. Even at the risk of losing a sale, they opined, honestly, that they thought their smallest size too large for me. Then they proceeded to give practical suggestions as to how it could still be a feasible option, given that the design and colour were fabulous. They happily held the dress, for an hour, while I continued my shopping and even offered to call a cab for me, when I was dubious about braving the deluge outside. If I lived closer, I'm sure I'd visit regularly. A true pleasure to shop here!

This is a large store, you can park on one floor and then you get the lift from the entrance and can get on the shop floor level. This store actually isn't a 24 hour store, which is surprising for a store of its' size, instead only going between 6am and midnight, which is still reasonable, it is open until 5pm on Sunday's which is useful. They have Scan as you shop facilities, which are quite handy machines. The Customer service desk is quite nice, and modern compared to other stores, especially rival chains such as ASDA and Morrisons. Still despite the size, this isn't a very nice store for shopping, the layout looks nice and modern, as it is a relatively new store I hear, but other than frozen gluten free scampi the range was quite poor. The stock just seemed really depleted, and the stock of most items was low and quite poor for a store of its' size, and the more I got into the store, the more dissapointed I felt. I was pleased to pick up some nice ham from the Deli, which was cut to my liking, but still the bacon ribs I picked up were cheap at a reduced price of £1 from £2, but still they tasted really fatty and I actually got a small bone stuck in my throat, which was unpleasant and shown bad quality produce, down to how the store produced it. I'm finding it hard to "Rate" this store as I can argue for giving it both 1 and 2 stars, with 1.5 being more right, but due to issues faced I feel I can't go to 2 stars, while also considering the surrounding areas and issues with the store its-self, albeit it is probably at the top end of the 1 star rating, and although I admit this is slightly unfair, I can't warrant giving 2 stars as frankly, it doesn't seem to deserve it. UPDATE: I feel I was being a little unfair with this store as they do have a decent Deli Counter and a satisfactory gluten free range, and a few other minor things which I feel have deserved the upgrade from a single one star to two.

Walking in to this store is a spacious area, scrap that, everywhere is pretty spacious in here which is great. Compared to other superstores where their aisles are cramped, this is a place that is more accommodating, fresh and relieving. They have definitely accounted for lots of shoppers making their way through the store! The lighting is bright, airy and not too gleaming on your eyes. As you walk in on your right will be the clothing and there's a big section dedicated to this. I've greatly appreciated the range of items available to buy when I've been desperate for something. AND there's always a sale on lots of items! As usually, I'm moving swiftly on to their gluten-free range. WOW. They've actually got *drum roll* big gingerbread men biscuits! They're soft, and so yummy! And and and they have everything gluten-free you could possibly hope for in a store. Compared to other big retailers, such as Tesco nearby, Sainsburys has 1-up'd them on their bread range. Possibly 1-up'd even Asda. Being one of the biggest supermarkets on the fringes of the city centre I imagined it would be easy enough to pick everything up and make it home with plenty of time to whip it up for New Year's Eve. What I didn't account for was the long queue to get into Sainsbury's car park, the hundreds of frantic shoppers desperately scanning the store for any left over bottles of sparkling and the mass of empty shelves. Yup. There was - wait for this - no buffalo mozzarella, no ricotta, no eggs and no spinach left. I asked an assistant if there was a pasta making contest taking place anywhere and he laughingly remarked that there hadn't been any of the ingredients since 9am. He did however, find me two bottles of good Prosecco and offer to phone a local branch to check if they had the other ingredients.
