This is a very good Barnardoes outlet but is quite difficult to find. The stock is very good and I tihnk they rotate between branches so it is always worth a visit if you are in the area. read more

I immediately e-mailed on Christmas day to ask about an exchange but decided to order another pair so as to not miss out. I had no response to my original e-mail so I rang them today and was told that it was out of the fourteen day returns period and out of the 'extended Christmas period'. What am I supposed to do, get my wife to try them before Christmas ?? I would even have accepted a credit note in return but was told there was nothing I can do, I will not be using this store again and advise people buying gifts not to do so either!!! Since I wrote this review they have agreed to refund the money. The original service was excellent and had it not been for the initial problem we had, I would've awarded more stars. I've increased the star rating in recognition of them bending their rules to provide a good level of customer service. We will use them again.
Capercaillie Antiques

It simply isn't true that they don't have any stock - the shop is a warren of rooms, each one crammed full of antiques, collectibles and, yes, what you might term 'junk'. It's a great place for a browse, and I've bought loads of stuff there over the years, ranging from tea cups to large pieces of furniture. It's my first port of call, whenever I am looking for a new item of furniture.

Paperchase
This branch of Paperchase is one of the many branches which the company has in the Tyne and Wear…read moreregion, which includes two in Newcastle, one in Gateshead and one here in Durham as I recall. I hate to be rude, but sadly this branch is one of the poorest Paperchase stores I have visited in the North East region, I found the product range to be a little bit lacking, even compared to other stores of a similar size, especially my local Paperchase store in Manchester which is one of their three UK flagship stores. The staff members working seemed rude and ignorant, it just felt like the manager and an employee were doing a stock take, which seems quite unusual and Maverick to be doing this during the middle of the day when the store seemed quite busy too. they weren't there greeting and helping customers, which was a shame, they felt unapproachable. Due to the slightly poor product range and the actions of the staff portraying themselves as rude during a Friday afternoon visit to this Paperchase branch in Durham, I sadly feel the store deserves a single one-star rating.
