An award winning seafood restaurant on popular Hutt Street, Louca's shows you the fish filleted and prepped to go sitting next to the bar, focussing on fresh produce with bare flavours letting the seafood sing. A small establishment it's best to book ahead unless you want to sit outside or come in early. Staff are attentive, helpful and chatty and the wine list is excellent with a decent beer selection. Louca's isn't too pricey compared to other eateries and the platters are decadent. The seafood here isn't fancy, its just great produce cooked simply in a nice setting. Good for a few mates who want to do something fancier than fish and chips at the pup or from the takeaway.

There are some imported barra's and other fish on the menu but I'd stick with what you know is spectacular in your own back yard. What was nice though is that you could go from a simple "fish and chips" up to a grilled atlantic salmon or seafood platter for 2 with oysters etc. We dined on prawns, salt and pepper squid, mussels and kingfish. The prawns were a bit tough but had a nice charcoal grilled flavour and the salt and pepper squid came in huge slices that were very well seasoned and succulent. The highlight of the menu was the tomato broth mussels. A huge pot came out and we proceeded to suck all the juices and meat from each well cooked shell. All meals were perfect for sharing and it was all complemented well by a simple SA wine list. The service was nice, but a little busy at the time and overall we were impressed with the cost of our meal for the quality of the dishes - good seafood ain't cheap people! On a side note, I don't quite understand why all seafood restaurants look the same - white tiles, white tables, white kitchen/bar? As Neale Whittaker from The Block would put it - "it feels 90s and dated." I look forward to the day when someone in Adelaide does it a little differently.

A lot of the other menu items here are also delicious. I absolutely love their fish and chips, and yiros! It's no Estia at Henley Square, but it's pretty close. The fish is nicely battered, the chips are thick yet crunchy with just the right amount of chicken salt, no more, no less. The yiros also has nice fresh fillings and the meat is cooked nicely. Their trading hours are also good, 11am till 8pm which allows enough time to grab food if you're feeling like a later dinner. They also recently updated their menu, which now includes chicken wings marinated in BBQ sauce, various meal deals, and they cater for Christmas orders. A downfall of this place is its steep prices, the last time I came here I bought a BBQ chicken for around $14. Overall though, it is convenient, tasty food!

I have recently become addicted to chips and gravy. Golden Chicken is my local fix. To be…read morecompletely honest it isn't the best chips and gravy I have ever had. The gravy is a bit too runny and the chips definitely aren't salty enough. However, the serving sizes are massive. The first time I went in there I was put off by the fact that one serve cost $5.80. When I received my meal it was gigantic. I literally went into a food coma after demolishing it all. A few of my friends have had their beef schnitzels and they said that they are amazing. On a not so bright note, the service definitely isn't fast. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes for your food. Apart from the chips and gravy, they have a massive selection. Everything you would expect from a fish and chip shop and more. They also advertise that they use cholesterol free oil to cook, but I don't know how important this is when you have shoveled down half a kilogram of chips. The shop is also open for great hours. Hungover on boxing day it was one of the only shops open in my area.
