The highlight of the menu was the tomato broth mussels. A huge pot came out and we proceeded to suck all the juices and meat from each well cooked shell. All meals were perfect for sharing and it was all complemented well by a simple SA wine list. The service was nice, but a little busy at the time and overall we were impressed with the cost of our meal for the quality of the dishes - good seafood ain't cheap people! On a side note, I don't quite understand why all seafood restaurants look the same - white tiles, white tables, white kitchen/bar? One of the waiters seemed quite reluctant to serve us, like he hated his job, but the other one was friendly, attentive, and joked around with us quite a bit. I quite enjoyed her as our server. There isn't much more I can say about this place other than how I felt it was completely average. The prices were a little on the higher end (which is, of course, to be expected), the servers are 50/50 (you may get one who hates their job and seems reluctant to serve you, but you also may get one who loves interacting with people), and the food is pretty average. Overall, I wouldn't complain about this place, but I don't know if I would recommend it.

The crab meat was like a paste. I was embarrassed to have started serving them. 3 of them were opened and discarded, the rest were put in the freezer to be returned. Upon returning to Samtass to ask for a refund, they would only refund the weight of the remaining crabs instead of refunding the amount shown on the receipt. They then told me to call the office to speak to Tony, the manager, which I did. I left a message with the office for Tony to call back and have received no response. I now regret spending over $1k with them this Christmas and will be taking my business elsewhere and sharing this experience with others.

A lot of the other menu items here are also delicious. I absolutely love their fish and chips, and yiros! It's no Estia at Henley Square, but it's pretty close. The fish is nicely battered, the chips are thick yet crunchy with just the right amount of chicken salt, no more, no less. The yiros also has nice fresh fillings and the meat is cooked nicely. Their trading hours are also good, 11am till 8pm which allows enough time to grab food if you're feeling like a later dinner. They also recently updated their menu, which now includes chicken wings marinated in BBQ sauce, various meal deals, and they cater for Christmas orders. A downfall of this place is its steep prices, the last time I came here I bought a BBQ chicken for around $14. Overall though, it is convenient, tasty food!

On a not so bright note, the service definitely isn't fast. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes for your food. Apart from the chips and gravy, they have a massive selection. Everything you would expect from a fish and chip shop and more. They also advertise that they use cholesterol free oil to cook, but I don't know how important this is when you have shoveled down half a kilogram of chips. The shop is also open for great hours. Hungover on boxing day it was one of the only shops open in my area.
