Thankfully for the Vinyl Music Vault, nothing that I write will stop a music lover from stopping in, if they're visiting Oneonta - that's just the nature of loving music stores, you always need to see for yourself. The owner is straight out of central casting...assuming your making a movie about an out of touch record store owner from a bygone era. Talking non-stop nonsense about how much each of his records is worth...and if you don't buy it RIGHT NOW, it's going to cost you $100 in just a few months. That literally came out of his mouth a few times. It was amusing to overhear but after a few minutes it became a tired routine. As for prices. His vinyl was a little higher than what I would expect on a few things that I looked out. Nothing too crazy but I didn't spot any deals. His CD prices were bizarre. Someone needs to break it to him about Napster, MP3s and everything that's happened in the last 20 years. $15 for used CD's that can be found at any Goodwill for $1 is just dumb. At first I thought it was just an "antique" shop but it was really a singularly owned shop where the owner sells all kinds of locally made products from soaps, clothing and household goods/accessories. The items were labeled with the contact info of the local vendors that made the products which I thought was really neat. I like supporting local vendors and if you like that concept as well then you just may find some of the items in this shop appealing to you. Really cute shop that I'd encourage even a quick peek even if you don't buy anything.

I still have the great Woolrich jacket (red plaid) I purchased here over a decade ago and have worn constantly--and last weekend, I got a cool hat to match it.
