European, German, and Old World style brews. If that's your thing, then this is the place for you! The female bartender was very nice and cool. The flights come in 5 and are served on a little sword plank. Return the sword or you'll be fined $100, according to their signs. One last detail is they share a space with another brewery with more modern beers (Seek Brew Company). Barley Sword is the 1st one you see when you walk in so make sure to check them both out before deciding which one you want

What a lovely surprise! This was tucked away in the middle of a three brewery strip. This brewery is based on British themed pub. Good array of non-IPA beers. They even have a few cask options. It's a good spot to have between the other two breweries. Beers I tried: Liberation!: Nice bite Fiddler's Green: Slightly malty Berliner Woodruff: Woodruff version. Tastes like almonds and vanilla Really nice people inside!

The Best Tavern style experience in San Diego. Be transported back in time to a medieval inspired setting, with a modern day patio that doesn't clash in the slightest, but rather shares ground with a fellow brewery! Winner of COUNTLESS awards and ribbons decorating the area, with a delightful and merry staff who brings it all together. Barley and Sword Stands and Delivers!!!

Great atmosphere, great people (especially Erin), and even better brews. Highly recommend the Diamond Wit or Bier von Bayern.

More beer options is never a bad thing. Barley and Sword offers up some old world beer classics with a decidedly UK-medieval based in America vibe. Think Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner. Good movie..I should watch that again. I digress. They're new, and have like six beers on the menu. Yours truly had the red ale and it was great; nice balance of hoppy and malty. The tasting room is nestled between Seek and Goal X on El Cajon Blvd and makes for a fun evening out. Friendly staff and good vibes.

We were just out checking out the neighborhood and stumbled upon this place, so we stopped for a beer. I had the hefeweizen which was banana and clove heaven. One of my friends had the kolsch which was also very delicious. The bar maiden was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. We enjoyed our beers on the patio.

This was my first time here. It's a very welcoming brewery with both indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a taco stand set up outside to make sure you can enjoy a meal as well. There is parking which makes it super convenient in this area.

Hefeweizen beer with the taco caterers. Love the outdoor seating here. Tasty beer and very cheesy birria tacos.

I will say I am probably biased, as I love most European styles, but they also make great IPAs and lagers.

I had to leave a review right away bc I was so impressed by this place. First of all, they are…read moreextremely dog friendly. The inside is gorgeous and there's a spot especially for dogs outside. Their outdoor seating with patio is beautiful! This place is absolutely divine! At this point, I dont really care about how the food tastes. Lol! Let's start off with the one problem i had with this place. The parking!!! It took me 20m to find parking and im not about to park my car on the street. I have precious dogs! Lol kidding. I just couldn't find any parking on the street or in the block! I suppose i came during lunch which is probably really busy. When I left, there were quite a few opened parking spots. This place is connected to an apartment complex surrounding retail stores. The leasing building is right next to Gravity Heights. I used to rent a 4k+ a month apartment in a retail area and let me tell you, its a hassle to find parking and not take a retail parking spot without having your complex email you everyday about your car potentially being towed lol! I understand this pain. Now that we are past that, let's get to why this place deserves 5 stars. The service is excellent! My server came around at the perfect times and they seem to really care if I enjoyed my meal! The stellar atmosphere with attentive service is enough for me! I got a gravity burger protein style which I dont think did the burger justice. I was going to eat with my husband later at a Vietnamese restaurant and I can only choose one carb for the day. My diabetic life is tough! Lol. I chose the Cesar salad to go with my burger. My burger was delicious bc of the caramelized onions. I didn't really taste a sauce in the burger but the excellent bacon with the much needed caramelized onions made the burger fantastic! The IPA hazy beer i had with my meal was also light and mellow. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and meal. My babies also enjoyed their burger! The weather was perfect today and it was a nice time and to think I was not going to eat here bc the parking definitely was a huge deterrent. Next time ill bring human company!

Air-headed and possibly racist hostess. We arrived at 4:45 today, and on our way to the bar, we…read morewere abruptly stopped by a rude blonde girl that looked like she was 13. She told us we could not walk into the bar while we counted 14 people walking past us. Apparently the entire place was reserved for the night, but it never got more than 2/3 full. Literally dozens of open tables the entire time, and we were there for 3 hours. Why? Why power trip when your restaurant has plenty of space to seat us? You let a group of 12 walk in front of us and they crowded the bar in right front of us, but you didn't say a word. 5 minutes before this, you told us that corporate didn't allow people to drink at the bar without a seat, but you allowed them to do as they pleased and you stopped our group? Was it because my friends were Asian? Or was it because we said we had children coming to join us? Even the bartender realized you were crazy and sat our group of 11. We spent over $1000, but apparently we weren't good enough for the hostess. I hope the owner reads this and fires that bimbo. I'm sure you have plenty of cameras and can talk to the rest of the employees to hear what happened. She was the only rude person we encountered. Food was amazing. The shrimp ceviche had a lot of flavor, a generous amount of shrimp, and the perfect amount of kick. The pepperoni pizza was epic and from the way the pepperonis were cupped, you could tell it was a really hot oven which is ideal. My kids loved the cheeseburgers, and I really enjoyed the chicken tacos. Every drink looks to be handcrafted, and I thought the margaritas were delicious. 5 stars if it wasn't for the hostess.
