Since it used the same key as the lock in the front door, I thought I would be changing both locks, plus the deadbolt on the front door, so I wouldn't have to carry two keys to the house and wouldn't have to remember which one to use on a dark, cold, rainy night when I had my arms full of packages. I wanted to go to a brick-and-mortar store, not just call somebody who had a listing in the phone book or was carpet-bombing Yelp with spam. Well, Big D Lock City has been in this spot for at least 30 years, according to the guys behind the counter. The same guys also said that they could simply sell me one new lock and key it to the locks I already had, thus saving me a couple hundred dollars and a load of aggravation. (I have a couple friends and family members who have keys to my house, and they would all need to be notified and resupplied.) The locksmith came out the next day as scheduled, finished the job quickly and took my credit card without a hassle. I thought the price was reasonable, but it's not like I called three other shops and compared. I just felt good about the place when I walked in and saw a place that had a timeworn feel to it, a place where they were honest and old-school about their work. If I need a locksmith again, I know who I'll call.
