My dog Willow (1 year old Aussie doodle) has genetic disabilities causing complete deafness and partial blindness. On 3/15/24 Ash was informed of Willow's (8 months old at this point) impairments and her anxiety during grooming by another groomer who referred me to Ash. In addition, I spoke to Ash about Willow's challenges. It also noted that since Willow is young, she needed to get used to training and grooming was understood to be imperfect. Ash stated disabled dogs were often anxious and require patience. Ash suggested Willow attend weekly doggie daycare to acclimate to the staff and facility so when she is groomed once a month it would not frighten Willow. 3/8/24 Willow has routine eye exam. Willow's left eye pressure was 11mmHg, within normal range. 3/21/24 Willow starts grooming with Ash. 7/12/24 Willow has routine eye exam. Willow's left eye pressure was 18mmHg, within normal range. 7/19/24 Willow was grabbed by Ash on the scruff of the neck and shook Willow while Ash yelled. It is reported that an employee intervened to stop the action. I was not informed of this incident until 8/19/24. 7/26/24 Willow's left eye presented as red, swollen, and cloudy 7/28/24 Willow was no longer opening her eye and was holding her head sideways indicating pain. 7/29/24 Willow taken to Eye Care for Animals and saw Dr. Rowley. Left eye pressure was 46 mmHg, almost double normal limit. It was advised to remove the left eye for Willow's long-term comfort. 7/31/24 Willow's left eye was removed. Dr. Violette did state that shaking Willow could've caused a blood vessel to rupture that leaked into her faulty drainage and that would cause swelling. However, he cannot prove that this was the cause through the pathology of the removed eye.
