Slowly overcrowding in some of the pens, dehydrated dogs, but the staff is not bad. It's just they don't have enough hydration stations. Seems like they could use some doggy treadmills for some of the animals that may be a tune to a higher level of being. It's not a joke you can't treat animals all the same. read more

Just an updated review since first time I reviewed this business! I have been going here for three years and recently started bringing my newly rescued mini Bernedoodle here for grooming too. Robert - the owner - and his team of groomers always do a fantastic job. Charlie is a little anxious and went 8 months without ever getting groomed before we adopted her so she wasn't used to being groomed. That said, they did a fantastic job with her and despite her not loving the grooming process, she came out looking beautiful. I've recommended Barking Broadway to many of my friends (shoutout to Moose Krest & Moose Jeffery Mucci who both come here for grooming). read more

Will NEVER return. 10+ yr customer with senior dog. The groomer REMOVED my 1 y/o toy poodle's beautiful fan tail. Shaved it to a little "nub" then lied as to the reason stating "he cried when I tried to brush it out". My dog gets groomed every 5 weeks and has never had a problem. The groomer was inpatient and LAZY. At 60 bucks a clip I will take my boy anywhere but Barking Broadway! read more

Megan made a house call to trim my cat's claws. Buster is a long, slippery 17-lb Tuxedo ninja with anxiety. He is highly intelligent and won't let me near his claws. The negative reviews on here make me SO sad. I have been using Natasha for years - even before she was in her new space. My previous scottie dog was a handful. He was a snippy, grouchy old man... who no one had much luck with. When I found Natasha, he turned into a little baby with her. She could do anything with Hector... and his cuts always looked PERFECT. I now have a 1-year old scott, Abita. She LOVES, LOVES Natasha. When I drop her off, she's excited and wagging her tail. Again, her cut is always perfect. They don't drug your dogs here (did you know some groomers do that?!), they don't stick them in a cage with a high-powered blower on them (how sad). She loves her dogs and does such a terrific job. I live on the West Side now and make the drive ~once a month because I know that no one could cut Abita's hair this well. Rather rude receptionist who got snippy with me because they only take cash or checks. It was my first time there, who carries cash anymore? It will be my last time, cash only businesses are putting the banking costs on the consumer. As I have to go pay a fee at the ATM and then my bank fee. They got me in the same day, which was noteworthy because I have 2 dogs. Both of my dogs are very small and one of them is a brand new puppy. I gave 3 stars because my older dog was shaved neatly, smelled nicely, and didn't seem upset (granted he's used to the experience by now). When I got there, my dog was in a cage stacked on top of another cage which made me uneasy as he was pacing and shifting the weight of the top cage. His cut was $50, pricey for a 7 lb guy but it was same-day so that makes sense. However, my puppy...$30 and I don't believe anything was actually done to her besides a trim around her eyes. She's just as shaggy as before so I took her to another groomer the next day to get a real grooming. I was asked if she was allergic to any shampoos, which she is not. She was definitely not bathed, so I was disappointed in her service. She didn't seem upset though, I know they treated them both well..I just feel that I've had far better results for less than $100 elsewhere. read more

They even fitted him in to help me when he had an encounter with a skunk recently. 167lb dog is not easy to squeeze in but they did. Very nice and professional grooming salon. I actually had them groom my guinea pig, which sounds strange but she needed a little help... I will always take my dogs to Megan, she is the best. My dogs get really anxious about bathing/grooming, but they behave so well for her. She has the magic touch! My parents take their dog to her too, and she is always very respectful of their specific requests (she's a long haired dachshund and they like to keep her ears and tail long). This is my second time around having my dog bathed, nails trimmed and ears cleaned. First time they asked if she had any allergies, which she has none but has very dry skin so they said they would accommodate that with a certain shampoo and conditioner. Second time they did not ask and I figured it was because they had noted it on her chart. She had a vet appointment following the grooming appointment, I dropped her off at 940 and requested I picked her up at 1115, they said no at first, that they needed more time but then after taking to technician said they could do it in that time frame. After picking her up second time around she looked fine, smelled good but it was very very pungent. That evening she was up all night itching and biting, in the morning I found her skin/ fur looking like this- so inflamed and dry that her hair was standing up. I thought at first flees but after giving another bath it seems the shampoo just did not agree with her at all- if it even was shampoo that they used. It smelled so strong i wouldn't put it past that they just sprayed her with a perfume or an air freshener or just barley rinsed off the shampoo because of the "time crunch".... if you can even call 1 hour and 25 min a time crunch. I will not be taking my dog back here ever again and I would not recommended it to anyone else. Also, all the dogs look terrified in the stacked crates. read more

Decent groomer although pretty unfriendly. No appointment reminders, follow up or anything for returning customers. Everything is rushed- talking, getting in and out whatever! I'm juggling as most people a lot of things- I love my dog but his grooming sometimes slips my mind. No flexibility in scheduling. In this day and age everyone at least text or sends some sort of reminder or even calls to see if you are coming... Honestly, I don't feel they wanted our business, which is okay too. read more

I have no idea which Barking Broadway the negative reviewers have been to, but it's not the one that has done haircuts for our three dogs. They always do a marvelous job in grooming them, and they do not hate going there. They are also willing to work around my busy schedule. They also groom my Maine Coon cat (BONUS!). He's an indoor-outdoor cat, and always manages to find the bushes with burrs, which are really uncomfortable for him. He also has a tendency to get quite dirty. They bathe him and cut out the burrs, and he always looks better and is more comfortable after a visit. I'm not saying he likes it (he's a cat after all), but they do help him be more comfortable). I would highly recommend Barking Broadway to anyone who asked. read more

My experience was horrible it was a first time and last time. The staff was unfriendly to me and mediocre to my mini schnauzer. His cut was too close and he was burned in different spots. They used clippers without guards which were too hot and caused the burns and scars. Instead of being honest they covered it up and never apologized. Whoever grooms my dogs does a good job whenever I bring them in and I am always very pleased with the cut. They usually get cocker spaniel cuts and they always look amazing, however this last time, they were matted and quite a site for sore eyes (owner at fault, yes that's me.), and Barking Broadway worked their MAGIC, Viola, my dogs looked like dogs again. They cut them down, Sweetie had a bit of hair hanging down and Ginnie's tail is so long and beautiful. I love the service, however, it is a bit impersonal, but at this rate, I'm ok with that. The price is very competitive, my dogs never seem traumatized like at some places, I could tell my dogs were super anxious, never at Barking Broadway. They are always happy when they leave. One suggestion, is front desk should make follow-up appt. for next 6 weeks so it's on calendar, yes I know that I'm being lazy, but that's what accounted for them not coming for some months (yes, my fault again) it would be very helpful. Absolute WORST haircut my dog has ever had!! I spoke to the woman who cut my dogs hair and told her exactly what I wanted, and I think she did it the exact opposite on purpose!! The haircut was wayyyy longer than it was supposed to be, extremely choppy, and there is even a bald spot on her chest! The staff was the farthest thing from friendly and I even heard them yelling at the dogs! We will never go back and I advise everyone else to go somewhere else, too! I didn't feel like the employees were really dog people and there was a lack of interest and enthusiasm when we met our groomer. While it was very clean and organized, offering a lot of retail products for purchase, for me it was missing a personal touch. My dog felt and smelled clean but his private area seemed to be neglected. His nails were trimmed, but not dremmelled how we expected. Nice people; fair price; good job! I read the other reviewers and just had to say that sometimes the dog does have to be shaved down if there are extreme tangles in the fur. I don't comb my dog as much as I should and we ended up in that situation once. They do the best thing for the dog and the tangled fur. When I keep up with her groomings, she always comes out looking super cute. They put adorable bows or hankerchiefs on her. read more

I've been taking our dog to Barking Broadway Pet Grooming Salon ever since we got him for his hair cuts. I have never had a problem until today. Today I went to go pick him up and we got in the car and I immediately smelled something awful. As soon as I walked in to the door I noticed that his leash was wet and had brown spots on it. I smelled it and it was absolutely terrible smelling. I called to let them know and they apologized and looked in the cage he was in and said that he pooped in the cage. I said okay and hung up the phone. I took him for a walk minutes after the conversation and he pooped a significant amount outside. I know my dog and I know that there is absolutely no way that if he pooped in the cage at Barking Broadway that he would poop again (a significant amount) outside at my house. When I got inside I gave him a treat and he laid down. I started looking at his legs, tail, and butt and he was wet and had brown spots all over the place. I smelled again and it smelled terrible. Even if my some chance it was Wheaton that peed and pooped in the cage (Which is mind blowing because he never EVER goes to the bathroom in cages) I just paid $48 + tip and you give him to me covered and pee & poop?! You let him sit in that cage covered in pee & poop?! I had to immediately give him another bath and now I have to go buy a new leash. Very mad about what just happened. read more
