I hear all about his daily adventures and Thea lets me know right away if anything seems a little off. I can't express what a relief it is not to worry about my dog or my apartment. I trust Thea. Mat and The Well Heeled Dog have been taking care of my 5 year old Boston Terrier Andy Warhol since…read moreshe was a pup. The original recommendation to try Mat was through a friend that had used him for many years for his Boxer, so I knew I was in good hands. The love affair my dog developed with Mat is sort of sublime. Maybe it's his gentle caring nature, or maybe he really is a dog whisperer-- but she completely melts around him. Totally bonkers. I've never witnessed her act that way with any other human (not even me). I've always liked that The Well Heeled Dog is a small, nimble business that's been in operation for a very long time. Mat is still very much IN his business, so that difference is felt. And call me crazy, but the fact that he was Lou Reed's trusted dog walker (Yes, THAT Lou Reed) for many years is kind of amazing? (He's pretty humble so would never mention it). I can't say enough good. Whether it's walks or long global travels, I've simply never had to worry about Andy in his care. And as a dog owner who loves her girl (in possibly excessive proportions), that's worth its weight in gold.

Mat is a true dog lover and Zeke took to him and Caroline immediately. They're both not only super nice and loving with our dog but it's also lovely when I get to see both of them! They're always on time and their walk timeframe window is much smaller than the other dog walkers we encountered. Zeke is always SO excited to see them and comes back from his walks in a fantastic mood. I really trust both of them and this has been a great experience for us! We are moving out of the city and can't imagine finding new walkers we will like and trust as much.

When I got my pup (Ollie), he was a little scared of other dogs. He would bark at them and go crazy, he will also see certain people and go nuts as well. If you got into an elevator with me and him, he would bark at you. Not in an aggressive way, more like who are you give me love kinda of way. He also loved to pull and drag me or whoever walked him around. I had already trained him with potty training, but was concerned that his behavior kept getting worse. My neighbor also has a German Shepherd and her dog is insane. She can barely control him and he's also super aggressive. My fear was that Ollie would wind up like that and that I'd have to give him up because I wouldn't be able to control him). After reading a lot of reviews, I contacted Abcs of Dog Training, and spoke to Michael. I was interested in the three week training. Michael was very clear and honest from the start. Seemed to know what he was doing. He agreed to come pick up Ollie. While away, Michael sent me updates. He taught him commands and socialized Ollie. Now when I take him for walks, Ollie never barks at anyone, not even at other dogs. The only time when he barks is when we are inside the home and there's someone approaching the door from the outside. He walks great on the leash, and listens to me. You have to keep on practicing the commands (heel, sit, leave it, lay down, stay, drop it, measure walk, and a few more). I'm extremely grateful for Michael and his training. Training was a bit expensive but so worth it. Michael also offers the two week follow up and is there for any questions you may have before and after the process.

My experience with Mary Ellen at A Dog Walk in the Park NYC has been outstanding. She walks my dog…read moretwice a day and takes her to the dog run...a little about my pooch. She is a shy, fussy Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who takes a while getting used to new people. Knowing how nervous she is around anyone but me; it is such a joy to see her completely relaxed and happy whenever Mary Ellen rings the bell to take her for walkies! It really is a relief to know that there is someone I can fully trust to take care of my dog and that the dog is also having a fun time. Also, I know that the same person will be walking my dog everyday so walker and dog can build a relationship and the walker can get to know my dog's habits. For example, my dog will prefers to do her business on concrete than grass! I highly recommend Mary Ellen's 'Emergency Relief Breaks'. Basically, if you are stuck working late or don't want to leave a party early, then she will walk your dog late at night (I think this service is for regular customers)...such a life saver for the times I have had to work late to meet a deadline. Overall, my experience with A Dog Walk In the Park has been great. Mary Ellen is punctual, professional, courteous and, most importantly, loves and respects dogs (she even has doggie CPR training!!!) and really seems to understand the strong bond that we each have with our pooch.

Grant was the first walker he ever had and was a life saver for us! At the time Rye was a 4-month old puppy struggling with puppy problems (mouthing, potty training, leash walking) and Grant was a hero, patiently working through all that side by side with us. Grant not only helped us with walking Rye but was big part of the reason Rye learned everything so quickly! Grant has good calm energy, Rye responds so well to him, very reliable and very knowledgeable about dogs and dog behavior. I feel totally at ease when Rye is with Grant. The emails after the walk are great. It lets me know Rye is back and safe at home, but also lightens up my day with a little glimpse of their adventures out in the neighborhood. Highly recommend.
