Carla is seriously a God send and if your dog is lucky enough to get along with the regulars and able to join the "pack" don't hesitate to do so. We adopted our not so little girl Ellis back in August and being on the streets for almost 4 years have left her with some puppy behavior. We did a meet and greet with Carla prior to joining her pack and it was nice that she wants to see how our dog got along with the other dogs before she decided if it was a good fit. Ellis made the cut and we were happy campers! Carla is all around amazing! The germaphobe in me has to wipe down Ellis' feet after an outting and so I relayed that info to Carla to keep her on the same routine as us. Then in addition we had to start crate training Ellis because she started destructive chewing all our furniture. Carla was happy to help put Ellis in the crate after their outtings and even on the occasions when I forgot to leave a Kong for her to give Ellis in the crate she took it upon herself to fill a kong and/or provide her with chewing bones from the closet. We have a dog cam and I'm able to leave it running while at work so I can watch Ellis and keep track of her behavior and sometimes Carla comes in and picks up things that Ellis had been chewing on or destroyed and she fills her water and I get to watch Ellis and her excitement everytime Carla opens the door. Ellis' pure joy and love for Carla is undeniable. Carla really cares for the dogs she watches and sometimes have the dogs out way past 1 hour (which I totally don't mind) because it was a really nice day out or the doggos were having too much fun. I definitely love that about her, that she isn't just tracking the time and being like "ok 1 hr at the park, let's go!" Because Ellis was on the street she had a lot of anxiety. Carla would text me to check in on how Ellis is doing with being in the crate, or on the chewing, or playing rough with puppies or just her adjustment. That really showed us that she cares about each individual dog and their wellbeing even at home. Now the flexibility of schedule is important to both my fiance and I. We work varying days/hours and Carla has always been flexible with our ever changing work schedule. I like that she doesn't just say we have to have the same days of dog group every week and that we can choose the days based on what our work schedule was that week. She also does dog boarding and has a place in the Sunset with a nice grassy backyard. We haven't gone on vacation since getting Ellis but we are looking forward to boarding her in the future. Carla has been a dream, a hero, and a lifesaver all bundled up in to one. Xander loves being picked up everyday. She is very methodical. She has morning and afternoon playgroups. One group is full of what she calls "high energy teenagers". That group goes to the beach everyday and runs free. She plays fetch nonstop with the group and send videos and photos of what the dogs are up to. The other group goes to a gated dog park where she also plays fetch nonstop with them. We have a 1.5 year old chow/husky/GSD/terrier mix who can be weary of people and is extremely loyal to her own family. We moved back to the city late last year and went from having a house with a backyard where Stella can roam to a small space where I'm sure she feels confined in all day while we're at work. With my commute, I'm no longer able to go home during lunch or come back home within a reasonable hour to let her out, so we looked to find a dog walker. I could not have been more excited when I found Carla! I love that she takes all the dogs on adventures every day, rather than just a standard 30 minute walk around the block. Keeping in mind all the breeds that Stella is mixed with, she makes a ferocious (well not really, she's all bark no bite) guard dog. The first two days that Carla came to take her out, Stella refused to let her come near. Any other dog walker would have either given up after the first attempt, or forced the poor thing to go with them, ultimately putting them in an uncomfortable situation where they're terrified and lead to behavioral issues down the line (this also showed great respect for the other dogs that were in her care, because you don't want to put a terrified dog in a car with 7 other dogs). Carla was very gracious in her willingness to work with us, first trying to come and take her when we were home to show Stella that it was ok to go with her. When even that didn't work, Carla was willing to work with us to board Stella overnight. We figured that the problem resided in Stella's guard-dog mentality. Her thoughts were "who is this random person coming into my house and trying to take me away?". We've never had any problems with leaving her somewhere, so this was a hopeful hail mary. And it worked PERFECTLY! Stella was able to get used to Carla's scent, understand that she's a friend and learned that she will have fun when she's with her. Now Stella excitedly waits by the door for Carla to come. Every time I come home, even if it's later than I planned, I can rest easy knowing that Stella had a couple of hours of amazing fun and exercise with Carla. She's always very happy and exhausted after her adventures and I could not be more grateful! Not only has this helped Stella socialize with other dogs on a daily basis and learn to trust other humans, it's also given us time back to our days and has alleviated some of the stress of feeling bad leaving her alone at home all day. We have a 4 month old mini bernedoodle and had to go to London for a 10 day business trip, so we did a lot of research to make sure we found the best place for our pup. You know she's great with dogs the first time you meet her and the dogs that's in her regular dog walk pack - you've got dogs of all sizes, ages, activity levels and backgrounds, from rescues to designer breeds - and they are all so well-behaved around her and with each other. When you board with Carla, your dog gets to join her daily, long, off-leash beach walks (weather permitting), and she sends you at least one video and image every day - our pup was having so much fun every single day with other dogs. She pays attention to any specific needs you have and your puppy has, whether its dietary restrictions, medications, or allergies. She uses only positive reinforcement, ensures that dogs have good recall and heeling, and strongly discourages jumping. Her house is in the Sunset and it's has multiple floors with plenty of dog beds and a large outdoor grassy yard for all the dogs to play in. We went through practically every single Yelp listing for boarding in San Francisco and visited quite a few, and you start getting a sense of what's out there. National franchises. Warehouses that smell like bleach. Solitary confinement rooms with 24/7 cameras unless you pay premium for for an hour of playtime. For a city like San Francisco full of dog lovers, there's no reason to go to these places - especially when you've got Carla. We cannot recommend Carla enough! P.S. I let her know what we were looking for, what type of accommodations my puppy needed and expressed my concerns. Carla is like a responsible fun aunt meets summer camp with all your favorite friends. We first contacted her to watch our 4mo old petite Goldendoodle for two nights. She invited us over to see her place and immediately upon entering her home, Prince was clearly comfortable and was having fun exploring all the fun toys there- he clearly felt like he could make himself at home. We felt very safe with Carla's experience, demeanor and knowledge of dogs and knew we had found our sitter. Prince has stayed with Carla twice and is getting ready for his third overnight stay with her soon. When our trip is over, he is always happy to be home but clearly also is sad to see Carla go (again- fun aunt meets summer camp!). Love Carla!!! We first heard of Carla from a friend when we were looking to board our pup this past summer. Carla is super engaged with all the pups, understands each individual dogs' needs and has such a great command of each of them. I was so worried about our little mutt, Frisco, never learning to be off leash. But under Carla's direction and work, together we were able to get there. Our first experience was with her as a boarder but Frisco made it clear that he wanted to see more of Carla, not just once a year for vacation ;-) We now have arranged for Carla to take Frisco out once a week for socialization and I'm pretty sure he knows what day is his day with Carla; he is always happy to see her, and his friends, and can't get out of the house fast enough with her.
