Mike took care of our senior cat for a week and was excellent, highly organized, and communicative. Our cat has lots of GI and bowel issues and medications to take, which Mike handled with no issue. I can't say enough good things about Mike, and my cats agree. If you normally will round up friends or neighbors to watch your cats, treat yourself -- hiring a professional is definitely worth the money, and Mike is definitely the right professional for the job. From first contact, Mike is immediately responsive. You start by filling out a questionnaire that is well thought out and clearly indicates that when he is watching your cats he'll be prepared for anything, from secondary contacts to where a carrier is located. After the form, Mike comes for a house visit. One of my boys is fairly shy with new people, but immediately took to Mike, and Mike did a great job of paying attention to them and not just going over where food and everything is located. While gone, Mike will send an update every few days -- you are gone, and part of that is a little vacation from pet responsibilities, so it is nice to not have an update every day but reassuring to have one every few. When you get home, you'll find your house has been well taken care of, is neat and tidy, the litter box clean. If you need anything else, just ask! Things like, "there is food that may expire while I'm gone so if you want anything please use it" and you'll arrive to find he's made sure there is nothing expired in you fridge even if he didn't use it. My only issue was once that Mike was getting married and wasn't available to watch my cats. Sadness ensued! :-) Happily he's married now so that inconvenience won't repeat! Also, mention Dr Who or Burning Man and you'll have some great conversations with Mike. read more

We hired Mike for 3 weeks while we were vacationing in Europe. Not only did Mike feed our two cats, but he played with them, made sure both were okay on every visit (one of our cats has a tendency to hide under the bed). He changed their litter box and took out the garbage. He also brought in our mail, watered our backyard plants, AND cleaned our kitchen and wiped down the counters! Amazing! I booked Mike rather last minute to check in on my two cats during my vacation, after a neighbor's commitment fell through. Mike responded to my request immediately, and was able to come over for an orientation within 24 hours. His initial response to me included a thorough list of relevant questions which anticipated any unlikely crises, such as the vet info, whether they had any allergies etc. He was so well prepared he even asked what cleaning product I preferred should there be any "accidents". After every visit, he sent me an email (with pictures!) just to keep me in the loop and let me know they were okay. Generally, when I go on vacation, I am accosted by my cats when I return. That they barely noticed my presence shows me that they were well loved in my absence. I have had a handful of cat sitters over the years, and none have shown the commitment or care of Sparkle.
