Update: I am ordering for a third time this year. I am astonished by so many reviews at one or two stars that have unfairly put this company at an overall rating of 3.5. Some are exceedingly critical of a product and company that produces cabinets and doors exactly to specs provided. Some of the complaints about delivery time is baffling. I do not work for this company but I have ordered from them twice and received exceptional quality materials. Everybody knows that delays occur for home renovations or construction. To give a one star rating because of a delivery delay due to the company remaking a door so you don't receive a defective one is truly beyond me. If you don't understand cabinet making, you can't appreciate just how good this product is. Ordering custom is usually because you need something you can't find prefab, or you want to save money with unfinished materials for your own stains or paints. I went back to find my review and realized I had only reviewed on Google. Barker doors was a project saver for me. I did not want to replace my cabinets, just change color. The contractor wanted $6000 just to paint them. On a 70k project that's a chunk. I found Barker and instead replaced the door with European doors, hiding the ugly frames. They turned out perfect. We had almost 40 year old drawers with the 80's style drawer slides that make the nostalgic sound of plastic rubbing against metal gliding on creaking plastic wheels. You know the ones you don't want to pull out too far for fear of dropping everything, drawer included, on your feet. Once we decided to resurface our existing cabinets I could not have beautifully surfaced cabinets with old drawer slides so my guests, i.e. close family and friends, claim Im a cheap b@$!d. I had to change the drawer HW to soft close. Seriously I HAD too!!! However the existing drawer boxes were incompatible with current HW. Since I'm pretty handy with wood working I was going to build new drawer boxes myself and purchase new sliders. However my back had different plans and while I was laid up I had time to contemplate life decisions like "should I have ripped the drawer face plates off before building new drawer boxes?" Of course the answer is yes because that would have never brought me in contact with this amazing company, Barker Door who would save my reputation with my family and friends. I researched several options and when I came across their website I viewed the reviews and YouTube videos they made on measuring and assembly. They were so well done I not only felt confident I could still do most of the work myself, I felt good about there product. I ordered one drawer box and slide rails at first to test the quality and ease of assembly. About two weeks later it was at my door step. The wood and cuts were perfect. I assembled, finished and notched the drawers myself however this is not something I would recommend if you haven't worked with wood and woodworking tools before. Go ahead and let them do it for the extra cost. It will be worth it to guarantee fit and avoid damage. After measuring and installing I can say with confidence the drawers and slides are better than expected. I ordered the remaining drawer boxes, sliders and rear mounts right away. On May 23, 2023 I ordered 16 new painted shaker cabinet doors and 9 new painted plain drawer fronts in bright white along with a variety of 1 1/4", 1 1/2", and 1 3/8" overlay hinges to reface all of the cabinets in my kitchen and bathroom. I did all of the measuring myself following the Barker video instructions allowing for a 1/4" reveal all around. In the interim, I removed all of the existing Thermofoil doors and drawer fronts. I ordered a paint sample from Barker and purchased a cabinet paint in a satin finish from Benjamin Moore. I cleaned the Thermofoil coated base cabinets with TSP to remove any grease or grime. I lightly sanded all of the existing base cabinet Thermofoil facing with a 220 grit sanding sponge, filling all the old hinge mounting holes, and then painted them with Stix primer prior to applying 2 coats of the matching finish satin cabinet paint. The finished new cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and hardware were shipped via freight carrier on 7/24/2023, from Oregon, and arrived on 8/1/2023 in Miami Florida. Everything was on schedule in line with what Barker had projected from the time of the initial order. The order was shipped on a pallet with amazing attention to detail and protection of the merchandise far exceeding my expectations. I spent the next 10 days installing everything, during my free time. The installation was relatively simple with the drawer fronts being the most difficult. I used Velcro on the face of the existing drawer boxes and back of the new drawer fronts to position them. The hinge adjustments for the new doors was a relatively smooth process. I will point out that when the hinges are to the left or right side of the door the adjustment screws have to be turned in the opposite direction to move the doors in or out and left or right. To adjust the doors up or down required loosening the single cabinet mounting screws in each hinge and retightening them. It is best to mount the doors by tightening the upper hinge screw first. The hinges are first mounted to the doors which is an easy process as all of the hinge mounting holes and hinge mounting screw holes were pre-drilled. I have yet to install the neoprene closing silencers to the back of the doors or drawer fronts and as such may have to make some minor alignment adjustments afterwards. Once that is all done I will install the handles. I am waiting for a jig, which I ordered, to line up the mounting holes for the handles. The handles and neoprene silencers were ordered from Home Depot and Amazon respectively. The two problems I ran into were as follows: In the bathroom the drawer fronts were next to the wall with the bathroom door and I did not allow for the door jamb, when measuring, for opening the drawers. Fortunately, I have a portable table saw and had to trim 1" off the end of those drawer fronts to clear the jamb when opening the drawers. I had to prime and paint the ends of those drawer fronts. No one will notice, that I couldn't achieve the same finish quality as Barker's sprayed finish, since those ends are only visible when the drawers are opened and then only if the bathroom door is not closed. The two bottom kitchen cabinet doors next to the wall which extend to within a 1/4" inch of the bottom front of the cabinet were interacting with the 6" wall baseboard molding requiring me to cut notches in the baseboard molding to mount those two doors. I would have to either change or remove a full inch from the top of the baseboard molding to allow those doors to open fully but have not made that decision yet as those two cabinets are not crucial at this time and are rarely accessed. In the final analysis, I couldn't be more pleased with the quality and performance of Barker Door and would highly recommend them!!! read more

I'm not sure how providing a better quality 1/8" piece of veneer plywood that is 24x15 could add 40% to the cost of a drawer box, I guess your wood must be laced with gold between the flaws. Check out these other photos that show the poor quality of the product you sent me last time. Your attitude in our correspondence and your comments to my response show the poor level of customer service you must preach to your employees. You don't have to worry about me wasting my time writing another review of your products as it's not worth the time or the effort. I also won't ever recommend your products for obvious reasons. Overall it's a decent door, but about 95% of the doors & faces I ordered (23 in total) have raised ridges and divets on the wood inside the frame. I didn't realize it at first and started spraying them which showed just how bad the ridges were on the inside which you can see in a picture. They've been an absolute PAIN to sand down. The product description for the doors and drawer faces says "Ready for finish" . They are far from that. Having to meticulously sand the inside frame on 23 pieces to remove these ridges while at the same time not damaging the thin MDF panel or rounding the edge has lost me so much time and added so much effort to the project. read more

I had an atypical measurement for a shelf drawer I wanted to install in my RV, and after spending literally HOURS on the internet searching for a pre-made drawer (that matched my specifications,) I gave up. Then I found Barker Door, and am glad I did. Input your exact measurements online and they take it from there. My drawer arrived in time for me to install it prior to a long trip, so it was a double win for me. And most important: they are VERY reasonable, as you can choose to put the 4 sides (and base) together yourself with a little wood glue. Great Cabinets, liikely the best RTA option available. I am fairly handy at basic carpentry, and have constructed 3 or 4 different types of RTA cabinets, and I am very impressed with the quality of the cabinets from Barker. No glues, clamps of for that matter frustration. The cabinets went together easily, with sturdy and secure screws, square, on dimension. The quality of the woods, hardware, and finish were excellent. The drawers are especially nice, with excellent slides. The finished product was beautiful, fit together nicely, and very solid. Cabinets arrived on time, in good condition. FedEx did damage a couple boxes, but due to great packing by Barker, the cabinets were not significantly damaged. Clayton at Barker was responsive to my inquiries, they are responsive to customer inquiries. For the "not absolutely perfect" comments, since the cabinets are constructed with screws, occasionally the edges wouldn't line up perfectly, (I am a bit of a perfectionist). However, I found if I loosened up the screws and played around a bit with which one to tighten first, I got everything to line up. This is still way easier than using clamps and rubber mallets required with other RTA lines. The filler pieces for the base cabinets, while nicely made, are the height of the cabinet less the toe kick. Therefore if you want to drop the filler to the floor, it will not reach the height of the cabinet. I think this could easily be remedied by Barker, however a longer filler would need to be cut if you don't want to extend it to the floor. The drawer fronts use only 2 thin screws to secure them, which seemed minimal to me, however they seem to be holding firm. This does allow adjustment, although very little of that was necessary in my build. In short, I'll be using Barker on my next cabinet project. read more

I had some water damage that warped the wood on my bathroom drawer to the point where I could not close it anymore. I looked around locally but places were charging close to $80-90 for a simple replacement drawer box. I don't have a ton of tools and Home Depot and Lowes both told me the best way was to make one or hire a handyman. I found Barkerdoor online and took measurements myself. The drawer box (the face was salvageable) was simple and well made. It was the bare bones basic drawer without any extra frills. I was able to put it together with just some wood glue and a mallet. Overall the spend was about $60 including shipping as the box itself was only $20. While I did have to wait 3-4 weeks for it, they clearly tell you that upfront and on their website. It delivered to me as scheduled on the website. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a replacement drawer box. read more

My wife and I wanted to remodel our kitchen but we didn't want the chaos created by using a contractor. The installation would be done by myself so I could control that process. I decided on RTA cabinets but wanted high quality. As luck would have it, the internet led me to Barker Cabinets. We obtained color samples first, then a sample cabinet in our chosen premium maple, shaker inset panel style. Literally took me weeks to fine tune our order and I learned a lot from reading everything on Barker's website, viewing every helpful video as well as having MANY email conversations with Clayton Brooks, Customer Relations Director. Clayton was always quick with a reply to my many questions and offered suggestions as well. His help was invaluable and made me feel very confident when placing my order. The order was delivered very well packaged and in line with stated lead times. These came from Oregon to Florida in one week. I'm in the process of installing the cabinets, with 9 of 17 cabinets currently installed. It's been a very rewarding experience so far, just me at 70 years old and a cabinet lift as my helper! The cabinets are relatively easy to put together and look fantastic. My wife could not be more pleased. We ordered everything, including trim pieces, in premium maple, sealed and clea rcoated and they look beautiful. Kudos to the paint shop for the extremely professional finishing job. Not one flaw anywhere in the finish. I figure I'll be done with the installation in 2 weeks, having spent 2 weeks on the install so far. BUYER BEWARE!!! Worth the read. Keynotes: They make MANY mistakes, have long lead times, and have AWFUL customer service. Unable to reach by phone, and respond via email every couple days with smart *** comments after taking months to deliver incorrect parts. Barker door had awful customer service and many mistakes, barker modern made many mistakes but had friendlier customer service-that's their star! Barker doors is one of the very worst vendors that I have worked with in my many years in the construction industry. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars mistakingly putting their cabinets in a couple million+ dollar houses that I have built and have been consistently disappointed. I have experienced so many delaminations of laminated doors, and recieved many damaged cabinets/doors as well as unacceptable lead times for corrections. The latest order I had with barker doors was for 8 items on 1/17/22. Out of the 8 items I received 2 came correct, and 4 came incorrectly produced on 3/12. The 2 additional items took nearly 3 months ALSO ARRIVING INCORRECTLY on 4/16! We are now 3 months after the order and I still don't have the correct parts. For the 4 incorrect doors that were first delivered I contacted the company, and they suggesting drilling the hinge cups myself to save the month+ it would take to remake the doors correctly. They assured me that they would credit me for the mistake. In a crunch to close on the 1.36 million dollar home I agreed, and purchased the tools needed, and spent the day fixing their mistakes. We are now nearly 4 months after this was promised and after expecting the doors to be refunded for them not delivering as ordered I have finally got a credit for a measly $30 which is what they charged to drill the holes. It didn't even cover the cost of the tools much less the days labor to correct their mistake! The additional two doors that were finally received on 4/16 were also not drilled, and had obvious damage to the doors! At this point I am so embarrassed by the mistakes as my client has purchased the home, and it may take another 1-3+ months to get them their cabinet doors. I judge my vendors based on how they respond when things go wrong, and not only do they miss the mark; but they also screw up ALOT! Unless you have months to spare and unlimited patience I would recommend steering clear of Barker Modern, and Barker Door. Adding due to reply from owner... the majority of the broken pieces were offered to be replaced with additional lead time that was not possible to work with. It is 100% false that the doors were not drilled due to a layout error, and there was at no point contact by email to "explain" that. It was a mistake on their end that they feel the $30 drilling fee makes up for it. Poor service similar to posting false information to make the company look better or less at fault. I was a bit nervous ordering something like this online, especially from the shipper across the country, but they arrived very well packed and in solid condition. my cheap MDF doors took the paint very well and cabinet ended up looking fantastic. I just wish the turnaround was quicker (I waited little bit over 3 weeks, which is pretty much what they told me when I ordered). I would probably utilize their service more if the leadtime was shortened to 1~2 weeks, but I understand this is custom product so I couldn't complain too much. Would definitely use again. We ordered a pair of overlay maple paint-grade shaker style doors. Both doors were the wrong dimensions by a 1/16" at the top and an 1/8" at the bottom. Plus, after a weekend of hot humid weather, it became apparent that they used a sheet of maple plywood with a 14" flaw in the veneer. Our experience with Barker Doors was very positive, up until we received the product. Their order form is easy to use, the doors arrived within the estimated lead time, well-packaged and undamaged. Customer service has been very responsive, and the company offered to send new doors. But, the success rate on the first batch was 0%? Why would we try again? Thankfully, we are no strangers to the cabinet industry and we were able to modify the doors (and fix the veneer) to make them work. If the doors had not been paint-grade, we would have had no choice but to wait another four weeks for the replacement doors. Is that really a good business model? We ordered doors at a dimension, they should have been built to that dimension. There really is no excuse. EDIT: We updated our Google review in response to the owner's reply. The owner blamed our tape measure. Please see the Google review for the full scope of the petty reply. Bottom line, the doors did not fit the cabinet. It is troubling that the owner claims the only issue covered under warranty would be the flawed veneer. So an incorrect size is not covered under warranty? The estimate for my order was 4-6 weeks. My doors were not stained or finished. It took 10 weeks. Ordered: 5/13 Paint grade quality I was lied to in 3 different emails on when my order was shipping: 6/29 your order will ship at the end of the week. 7/10 your order will ship later today. 7/21 your order will ship the following day. 7/23 order finally shipped and I received 7/25. The quality is good but not great. The areas that had wood fill needed further patching and overall they were not sanded well enough to be primed/painted. I would order again but their lack of communication is horrible. Estimates on when a job will be completed is one thing but to be told "it's shipping" and it's not... is a lie. read more

3-4 week lead time, regardless of order size. Received the drawer: the dimensions were perfect: exact to my specifications. The dovetail joints fit very well; however there were small bits of wood that required a light rasp to remove some shavings that didn't fully detach, look over the joints as closely as if you made them yourself, a little splinter stuck in the joint can make a big problem after you already glued it up! I believe they have directions online: if you're ordering a dovetail joint drawer to assemble yourself, and need the YouTube video, good for you. That's a bold move! The video will guide you well, it's a simple thing to assemble. The quality is very good, the price is perhaps 5-10% more than I would like, so I'll call it fair. I'd certainly buy from them again, however it's good to know you're 3-4 weeks out to get even a small order. read more

Drawer boxes were perfect fit well made, heads up though when ordering hardware, I ordered Blum blumotion self closing drawer slides, they do not come with the rear hanger to install them, nor do they mention on their web site that they are not included, something I would have liked to have known. We invested in cabinet door fronts for a wall of cabinets in our laundry room. It was definitely an investment, as cabinet doors aren't cheap... I was especially scared of my measuring job, which I quadruple checked! It was simple to order the doors on the website, and it took around 5 weeks to receive them. But they are perfect!! I couldn't find a single defect in the workmanship of the doors. I don't regret the investment at all! I would also like to add that the customer service is great. I sent in an email to check in on the status of our order, and received a response 7 minutes later.. Ordered raw wood shaker style door fronts and drawer fronts to install. They were helpful in helping me with measurements for things like overlay. Although priming and painting them was a pain in the a$$, once they were finally installed, they looked absolutely gorgeous. One thing to note, even though we ordered our doors predrilled with holes for soft close inserts, we had to drill the smaller screw holes that hold the insert in place. Didn't realize this on the first one and split the wood a bit. Fixed it with putty and pre-drilled the rest of them before installing. read more

Had some issues getting responses to questions in beginning, but eventually company owner Chad replied and took care of everything. Really really nice paint grade solid maple doors throughout. plywood was 3/4 prefinished, and looked to be high quality American made. I thought I would have to sand the unfinished doors. they had already been hit with 220grit, even corners and edges. as could be expected, a few issues (damaged panel, missing door), and a panel that I forgot. These were very rapidly corrected (1 week Fedex instead of 14 weeks). some panels misdrilled, but on a hassle scale of 1-10, this is a 1. (who doesn't have a drill) decent amount of extra hardware, which was good Blum stuff (not their top line, but their good stuff). for the more expensive things like hinges, etc, there was usually an extra one in the pack. drawer system was good. needed a little fiddling, but blum undermounts on dovetailed drawers. drawers were prefinished very nicely and all almost perfect. panels all assembled with good confirmats. PZ3 head. rock solid after tightening. Only one Pozidrive#3 bit (Barker, please include more....you don't know how hard it is to find one in BFE....even in lake tahoe area that uses them for ski screws). or better yet, convert all screws to Torx. Also, they're not 100% committed to standard 32mm....my Canadian friend and I noted that the hinges were drilled as 32mm, 35mm back from edge like normal, but shelf holes were drilled in another line. some other things were on custom drilling. but overall, very very happy with everything. My Canadian friend now wants to order kitchen, but the 14weeks is hard. read more

Exceptional value. We renovated our kitchen and laundry using Barker cabinets, have also purchase 6 doors to reface linen and adjacent bath. In every instance the product and customer service truly have been exceptional. Word of caution - you'll do well to verify your measurements and plans with an experienced carpenter. read more
