I scheduled an appointment through the GMC app (as heavily promoted by GMC through sales, posters, and phone messages) for an oil change and multipoint inspection. My confirmed appointment was for 8:00 AM, and I arrived early at 7:45 AM. Upon arrival, the service advisor could not locate my appointment in the system, even after I showed her the confirmation within the app. She advised to never book an appointment online or through the app, as there are always reoccurring issues. She took my information manually and checked me in. There were no other vehicles in the pull-up area or waiting customers inside at that time. As time passed, a few others arrived and were also waiting. By 9:30 AM, an elderly couple who had been there since 8:00 AM inquired about their vehicle and were told it had not yet been started. Frustrated, they decided to leave. At 10:15 AM, after nearly three hours of waiting with no visible progress and no one checking out at the counter, I asked about my vehicle and was told it also hadn't been started. At that point, I decided to take my truck and leave as well. What made this experience even more disappointing was the lack of concern or communication from the service manager. A manger never came out to update or apologize to any of us waiting, even after multiple customers left due to delays. A service advisor did come out and say they were "accidentally overbooked" at one point in passing. However I question that as there was literally not ONE person who checked-out from 7:45am -10:15am, nor were their any phone calls made to anyone advising their vehicles were finished. The lack of being respectful of customers time is disheartening, as making appointments should ensure smooth flow and operations to stay on time and keep customers satisfied. I used to be a consistent Barker GMC customer but had switched to Dantin Chevrolet years ago due to similar issues. Dantin has always provided quick, efficient service. I decided to give Barker GMC another try today, but after this experience, I will not be returning or recommending their service department to anyone. read more

Purchased a brand new 2024 GMC Acadia from GMC Barker in Houma in October 2024 and have had ongoing issues since. Within three days, I discovered I had signed paperwork for the wrong vehicle and had remote access to another customer's car. We had to redo all paperwork, and the dealership offered only a free oil change for the mistake. Since then, my vehicle has had multiple problems -- including Apple CarPlay malfunctions, a peeling steering wheel (repaired multiple times), squeaky brakes, and a rear window that repeatedly stops working. Many of these issues remain unresolved despite numerous service visits and calls. I've also had major administrative errors, such as being without valid car insurance for six months due to the original vehicle paperwork mix-up. The response from staff and management has consistently been dismissive, and scheduling service appointments has been extremely difficult. I paid full price, purchased all extended warranties, and expected a reliable family vehicle. Unfortunately, this experience has been very disappointing, and I cannot recommend GMC Barker based on the lack of accountability and ongoing vehicle issues. read more

My experience at BARKER BUICK GMC dealership in HOUMA was nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. As a new resident in the area, I was excited to have a local dealership for servicing my 2022 GMC 2500 HD Sierra Denali. However, that excitement quickly turned into disappointment during my recent visit. When I called to schedule the service appointment, the service adviser seemed friendly and asked me about my previous visits and whether I had an extended warranty. I mentioned that I had purchased the vehicle from Legacy GMC Slidell and had an extended warranty agreement. Despite this information, I was informed that they were booked for the next two weeks before they could take a look at my truck. Understandably, I waited patiently for the scheduled appointment day, hoping for a smooth and efficient service process. However, things took an unexpected turn when I arrived at the dealership this morning. I was greeted with surprising news - my service agreement (PORTFOLIO) was not welcomed there. I was taken aback and confused by this revelation, as I had specifically mentioned my extended warranty during the appointment scheduling. The reason they provided for rejecting my warranty was rather disheartening. They claimed that the warranty company (PORTFOLIO) takes too long to approve repair claims, and consequently, the dealership ends up waiting up to 48 hours or more for payment on warranty repairs. As a result, they advised they would refused to release my truck until they received payment from the warranty company. (Basically would had held my truck HOSTAGE, until they would have gotten paid by warranty service co) Feeling frustrated and concerned about the whole situation, I requested to speak to a manager to understand the matter better and see if any resolution was possible. However, my encounter with the individual who identified himself only as "BOBBY" , assuming he is the manager, he was far from being pleasant and arrogant. He was dismissive of my concerns and exhibited an unhelpful attitude throughout the conversation. When I asked for his last name, he outright refused to provide it, which left me feeling even more uneasy. I expressed my disappointment, explaining that the dealership should have informed me about their policy beforehand, during the initial appointment scheduling process. If they had taken the time to ask about the name of my extended warranty service at that point, it would have saved me the trouble of waiting for two weeks and prevented this unnecessary waste of time. However, the manager's response was anything but understanding. He stated that they don't have time to ask such questions during appointment scheduling and shifted the blame to me as the one who should ask, which only added to my frustration. This entire experience has left me with a negative perception of the dealership's customer service and handling of warranty claims and appointments. As a potential customer, I was seriously considering buying two additional vehicles from this dealership, but after this ordeal, I have lost all confidence in their commitment to providing satisfactory customer experiences. In conclusion, the GMC dealership in Houma needs to improve its customer service and communication. The lack of consideration for my warranty, the manager's dismissive attitude, and refusal to provide essential information have led me to lose trust in their ability to meet customer expectations. As a result, I have made the decision to take my business elsewhere, where I hope to find a more customer-centric approach to not only "selling me a vehicle, but to also provide with professional and respectful service-customer service. read more

I received a notice from OnStar about a failing battery or starter. I called the dealership I've been with for more than 4 decades and was told i could have an appointment on 2/25, and if it died have it towed to them and they would look at it on 2/25. So disappointing and dismissive. i wound up at another GMC dealer where I was treated with respect and care and have a new battery this evening. read more

Brought my 2019 GMC Truck in for service at 8am. on a Friday. I never heard anything from their Service Department all day. I called at around 3pm. to find out about the progress on my truck. I was told that the service person who wrote me up left for the weekend and someone would call me back. When I was called back, I was informed that my truck has not yet been assigned to a Service Tech. I just picked up my truck with no service performed. I sent a message to the Service Manager Randy Talbot about what happened and never got a call back or at least an apology! On another note, I had some minor body damage on my truck from FEMA 18 Wheeler catching some low lying power lines and dropping a power pole on my bed. Barker's Body Shop has put me on hold month after month since September 2021. It's now August 2022 and was put on hold again! Almost a year later and nothing! It's a 3 day job! Don't waste your time at Barker Buick GMC. They are the most incompetent dealership I've ever delt with! Save yourself a lot of grief and go elsewhere! read more

I do not recommend this business! I was working a deal on a vehicle and received an email that said I was approved for financing then the salesman said I wasn't approved. When I asked why not he said he didn't know. I forwarded the email to him then he said oh well you are good then. I never heard back from anyone for several days then I called and was told they sold the vehicle to someone else. I asked why did they run my credit when they had no intention on selling the vehicle to me and their reply was we don't hold vehicles. I never asked them to hold a vehicle I was approved for financing according to their email but they never called me to tell me anything. They are crooked people and will run your credit with no intentions on selling you anything and lack communication really bad. They lost my business! I went to another dealership and bought a brand new 2022 vehicle and didn't have any problems at all so I guess they didn't want to earn my business here. It's their lost and my gain because I was looking at a used 2018 here and ended up with a brand new 2022 at another dealership. They need to learn communication skills, customer service skills, and learn to be transparent with people. read more

I was recently involved in a truck purchase, via internet, and text. After making a deal with a person named Quinton (Crook), and confirming the deal. I drive 120 miles one way, to have Micah meet me with a different deal, that was not agreed apon. Then I ask to speak with GM, who tells me the that I was mistaken, because he was in the room, per my conversation with Quinton. (I never had a verbal discussion with Quinton, or anyone else. Needless to say if you gonna do business with Barker, get it in writting, and I'm not sure that will be good enough. Lost a potential repetitive customer. My service advisor went above and beyond assisting me with getting my needs met. My only dissatisfaction was with the Safeguard Company taking so long to respond to the advisors request for approval which I know Barker has no control over. Made an "appointment" to have my AC and idle looked at for 7:00 am on Tuesday. My wife and I took the day off from work (unpaid)- by 3:00 pm, the car hadn't even been looked at. At 4:00 pm I was quoted over $800 for work completed in less than two hours. All in all this cost my family ~$1428 which is ridiculous, unprofessional, and unacceptable in a business that is supposed to be about "service." This will be my first and last visit. read more
