Love this dog park. When I was going to the other dog park for a long time on 157th and 120th by Tamiami a lot of people there told me how bad this one was so I didn't go. One day I went just because I needed to kill a lot of time and it was great not too many dogs on the weekends I prefer to go to this one because it is less crowded than the other ones and has a lot of shade read more

Sometimes I just don't feel like walking my dog the recommended 30 minutes in the morning and 30 in the evening. If you are shocked by the time, I'm just following what the Dog Whisper says and he knows his stuff. So on days like this, Tropical Park is my salvation. I take my little pug who is a fur ball of energy for an hour and he's dead tired when we leave. The doggie park is wonderful as it is gated and sectioned off for big pooches and little ones. There are water fountains for Fido, obstacle courses and plenty of potty bag stations. For pet owners there's benches and picnic tables to sit on and kick it back. read more

I was thrilled to find Tropical Park's "Bark Park" for dogs. I have a friendly, very small, spayed companion dog, and the small-dog section was super nice. Things I loved: Shade, water-fountains for people and dogs, an agility course, and plenty of benches-- even a gazebo. Drawbacks: The inner gate sometimes doesn't close. Also, be wary of some irresponsible owners with unchecked aggressive dogs. But I wouldn't give fewer stars to the park for that, because aggression can be a problem at all dog parks. Maybe you could argue that some dog parks have a stronger community of regulars who help govern dog-owner behavior, but Tropical Park is still a really nice facility! My dog and I had a great time on our first visit. On our last one, which was on a weekend, there was a persistent "mounter" (an intact male about 20 lbs.) who finally caused a bunch of us to leave. I get that mounting behavior is normal, and most of the time dogs work things out on their own. But this dog became so aggressive, it was impossible for anybody to have a good time, and the owner wouldn't respond to our requests for help. I honestly thought intact dogs weren't allowed--not that anyone checks at the door. Meh, these things happen. Bottom line: Some risk is worthwhile in order to give our dogs a chance to socialize, but I would say to be vigilant at the park, leave the dog treats and other food at home, and learn in advance some techniques for warding off aggressive dogs just in case. For example, my friends and I made the mistake of picking up and holding our little dogs as we tried to extricate ourselves from the increasingly aggressive "mounter." But I later learned that was the worst thing to do! Still, if you have small dogs, definitely go and enjoy this dog park. One safety tip might be to watch from outside the gate for a few minutes to read the vibe before entering. I can't really speak to the big-dog side of the park, because we didn't experience it. I did notice some enormous dogs over there, but didn't hear any altercations. Plus I had the pleasure of watching a young lady calmly walking a trio of really large dogs at heel from that side of the park to the exit. You rock, girl!! read more

This place is great for a family day. Therei is a section for the little dogs and a section for the big dogs. I took my golden retriever here and she had a great time! Definitely bring your dogs here, but make sure they have their tags up to date. read more

There's nothing big or fancy to make this dog park stand out. Except that it's located with in the huge Tropical Park. So looking for it is a little confusing! But the only down fault of the dog park was that when I went there was a couple making out. I was annoyed not because they were making out but because they weren't watching their dog. Their dog except begging me for food. Note even my friend's dog begged me for food. So if you do go to the dog park with your dog and friend. I suggest you pay attention to your dog and where it's going because it's bad manners to let someone else watch your dog. What made matters worse, I started feeling bad for the dog. It wanted attention. Plus, the dog was trying to follow me out because I still had food in my hand. read more

Not impressed. Ive been to better parks. Its a shame the entire place isnt dog friendly. There is so much space in this park that dogs could run in. Im talking acres and acres of open land. But they make you stay locked up in the back. We had my nephew with us and we couldnt enjoy a family outting with the dog. Its also next to a lake so mosquitos would be a problem towards the evening. Total bummer. Ended up going to a different park and was much happier. The only good thing about this park was it was nice and shady and there were plenty of benches to sit on. read more

Huge sections for large and small dogs with obstacle course, water fountain and shower. Plenty of seating, shade and plenty of room for your dog to blow off some steam. read more

I have a 12 lb min-pin who is fairly new to dog parks. The park was clean when I went (no poop piles) & we started out with the whole park to ourselves. As other dogs arrived, they all seemed to know their doggie-etiquette, and the owners were all friendly as well! We have been there twice now & plan to return regularly in the future. read more

Terrible, visited this dog park twice in the last month. Both times the dirt was everywhere. There's was feces everywhere, mud from the water being on so long. The gate doesn't work properly. And there's almost absolutely no grass left. Pretty much all dirt. I took my dog to play fetch and ended up leaving. Dont waste your time going here. read more

I try to usually go once a week. NEVER go on weekends to this park, its like voluntary homicide for your dog. I have a 9 month old American Bulldog and he loves going, the only problem is when owners bring aggressive dogs that have no social skills. If you know your dog has the capability to hurt another dog for no reason, PLEASE DON'T TAKE HIM TO THE PARK.Then they say "he's just playing rough, that's all". I don't think so. That's the only downside I see with the park. One positive side is that my dog gets amazingly well with other small breeds so i switch sections. read more

Tropical Park is a beautiful, huge park that we are lucky to have here in Miami. The dog park is a great feature. The separate areas for small vs big dogs is nice and the fact that the dogs can swim in the water is a bonus. We hang in the small dog area. It's usually pretty bustling and our dogs like making new friends. My only complaint would be about the owners who aren't careful about keeping the gates closed. We watched someone's kid swing open both gates and two dogs got out. Also parking can be crowded on the weekends. read more

This really is the best dog park in Miami. With that said, it definitely could be better maintained. The areas where the dogs run tends to be very dirty/muddy. It has all of the amenities you would expect a dogs park to have: water fountains, benches, picnic tables, shaded areas and more: separate areas for large and small dogs, a concrete walking path, and an obstacle course. The obstacle course is a really great feature that a lot of other dog parks don't have and it's great to keep your dog occupied on days when there aren't a lot of other dogs. After having been to dog parks with water access, I've found that most dogs love swimming and with the park being right on the lake, I wish there was access to the water. Most of the people are very nice and so are their dogs. Every dog park will have it's irresponsible owners and over-aggressive dogs so I wouldn't let any of those complaints deter you from taking your dog to the park. The benefits to your dog's physical and social health by far outweighs any drawbacks. Going to the dog park really is something that every dog (and dog owner) needs to experience, and there is no better place in Miami than Tropical Park. read more

We went this park for the first time this morning. Our little puppy Sobe loved here. It's Lab Retriever mix but very small, 29lbs. There are two areas for small dogs and for large ones. Under / over 35lbs. We tried small dog area first. There are some little pooches and she loved to meet friends. People were also nice. Next, tried large area, ground was wet and mess. Came back to small area again and spent some more time. Personally, small dog area is much better. You don't need to bring anything but your four leg family. There's everything, water fountain, poop bag. When you get in, please close the gate. I saw it was open by someone. It opens with inside gate handle. We will definitely go here again!! read more

The park is great. My only complaint is the door leading to the lake is usually locked! It would be really beneficial for dogs to take a swim there. They'd really love it. We should make a petition to keep the door unlocked. read more

I absolutely adore this park and the only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars are for the following reasons below. I come with both my pups several times a week with all our friends and their dogs. Not only do my dogs get to have fun with the obstacles but as owners we get to sit back and watch them make new friends. Now there are a few things I wish to fix about the park. 1. The large dog side has way too much dirt and rocks. I have an all white pup, and she does not like leaving the park black, plus I have to shower her and when it's cold it's even worse. 2. People need to seriously pick up after their dogs, there is poop everywhere all the time and I'm sure I'm not the only one who hates stepping on it. Plus it smells bad, and our dogs mistakenly step on it or fall on it too. 3. We have a lake we basically can't use.. it's full of grass everywhere and it's closed off. We all have to jump the fence and carry our dogs over so they can enjoy it. 4. & this goes to myself as well. Your dog deserves to be socialized and taken to the park but if their showing aggression towards other dogs, MUZZLE them! Not only will your dog be safe from getting into fights but YOU as an owner are being responsible! Overall, I love this park and I recommend everyone to go! I've gone to other parks and this park just seems to have it all. It needs to be maintained better and I will be volunteering soon to make the park better for both pets and owners. read more

Nice park in a good location. The only big concern I have is the mud. Every time I visit this location, the big dog side always seems to be filled with mud. read more

Its always a fun time, we enjoy taking jayden here so he can play for a bit and get harrased by girls

Try to go at-least once a month with Bull Terrier, everyone is always friendly just enjoying a nice day out. The park is kept clean and there are plenty of things for dogs to do. I like that there are two separate areas for Large and Smaller dogs that way the peace is somewhat kept...All in all its a great place to go your dog will love it... read more

So... I really can't give this park 5 stars ( maybe about a year ago) but not now. The reason I say this is because even though I do go there a lot and I do have a pleasant time with my baby, it's not as well maintained as it should be and the people that go there sometimes are true Miami people meaning that they are just big jerks. I've encountered too many aggressive dogs there already and it really takes out all the joy of taking my sweet baby there, it's a sad story but unfortunately people here are way too ignorant and can't even control their own dogs. If you have an aggressive dog and can't control it DONT GO TO THE DOG PARK PERIOD! It may seem like I'm doing a whole lot of complaining here but also, there is too much dirt and too little grass... they need to care more about this dog park it's the only one around here that is a decent size for the pups to roam and if its not well maintained, I have no desire in taking my baby there. Oh and another thing, don't go on the weekends unless you want to deal with a million dumb Miami people that have no common sense! lol It's sad but TRUE! read more

This is an excellent dog park. Relatively large in comparison to other dog parks in the area. There is an obstacle course for your dog to complete if you want, a covered picnic area, a "hose down" area to rinse your dogs, and lots of space to run around. There are two separate sections for large and small dogs. The section for large dogs is much bigger. The park runs along the lake, but the dogs are not allowed in the water. That is the only down side. It would be great if the park expanded out to the lake. Doggies like to swim! I go here every weekend. Love it and can't live without it. A must-go for all dog owners within a 20 minute radius. read more

I used to bring my terrier mix to this dog park but I stopped going because I didn't think it was that safe. She was too big for the small dog area but not as big as the large dogs as she's only about 38 pounds. Once in the large dog area she got bit on her hind paw by a German Shepard type dog. Another time she was nipped on the belly while "playing" with another dog. I also found that some of the owners didnt pay attention to their dogs. My trainer also advised not to take her there. So unfortunately we haven't been for nearly a year which is very sad be caused she loved being able to run off leash. But I didn't want to chance her getting bitten or worse. read more

Hello Sabrina, I hope you don't mine if I piggy back off your review, I do agree the with you assessment on the park, its kinda of small, but for small dogs its perfect, I took my dog Puqui to the small dog section and right away he took to the others dogs playfulness, the place has a water fountain, poop bags, small obstacles for them to play on and for the humans few picnic benches and a lot of shade... :-) Overall I feel a tad better paying taxes...;-) ... So take your pup have a nice time. read more

I love this dog park. It was clean and fenced. There were trees that provided shade also had a water fountain. People were super friendly. I loved that the park is divided into a large dog area and a small dog area. read more

Watch out for Veronika and her 4 dogs!!! I brought my 1 year old Vizsla there a year ago and I've never been back. Her dog, Charlie has territorial aggression. Charlie doesn't like other dogs to play with his ball toy. So when my happy go lucky dog went to take the ball from Charlie we ended up in the ER. Yes, Veronika reluctantly paid for the bill, but I'm sure she didn't learn her lesson. She told me she even stayed at the dog park 1 hour more after my dog was Charlie's chow. When will stupid, irresponsible dog owners realize that their dog is not for the dog park. By the way, I disgaree with a review...there are plenty of people that don't pick up their dog poop. I had to leave twice because a Weimaraner had a bright red color in his poop and another time there was a English bulldog that had diarrhea. If the owner doesn't pick, then what wait til a curious dog tries to figure out what it is. There's also a Bull Terrier that is aggressive and I've had to tell the owner twice to come get his dog while he sits and plays with his IPhone. read more
